Already in June 2014 we spent some nice days in this wonderful apartment. We came back in December 2015 and had a good time again. We can´t imagine a better way to visit Rome. The apartment is an ideal point to start to discover the city even by feed. The very private interieur offers the feeling not to be a tourist. We felt like guests.
The conversation with Olga was always very direct, short quick answers to all questions we asked, always approachable.
Manuel, the housekeeper, is also a very polite person. He was always in time and gave his best to make our stay comfortable. He waited patiently for us when we were late because of flight delay or traffic jam.
It will not have been our last stay at this wonderful place!
I would've like to have more time just to spend having cocktails on the terrace as that is my style as opposed to eating out . We shared ( Terrace across the courtyard ) a concert with a private club across the way it was very nice . This flat is beautifully decorated with great art and it is just the essence of Rome
We gasped as we entered this wonderful, luxury penthouse. It is more lovely than the pictures! The place is an eclectic mix of home, antiques, books, art and all-around beauty! The location is perfect. This romantic apartment is my favorite VRBO of all. Everything is vintage and wonderful. If you love art and architecture, this is the place for you.
- Location is perfect, besides being walking distance from all the major sites and the night life/restaurants of campo de fiori and trastevere, the street itself is very quiet. The next street over, which runs parallel to the Tiber does generate some traffic noise but that dies down at night and two of the three bedrooms are located on the quiet side of the apt. Over all we did not have any issues sleeping or with the city noise. Stores/shops/restaurants are 5 minutes away. In addition being right next to the Tiber and on the 5th floor meant there was a decent breeze most of the time and this apt. has many windows and doors that open.
-Apt. is as described/pictured. In fact it was bigger than I expected. Our group of 4 included a 4 year old and a 6 year old and they enjoyed ripping and running around the apt.
-Nice outdoor space, one large terrace that we ate dinner on multiple times, one smaller terrace off of one of the bedrooms, and a narrow space on the front side of the apt. which is not big put I popped a chair out there with a bottle of red and enjoyed the view of the ponte sisto and the Tiber.
-The apt has almost everything you need, the kitchen has all the basics (fridge/freezer, gas range, microwave, cutlery/dishes/glasses/pots/pans and dishwasher that we did not use) we cooked multiple meals in the kitchen, there is also a washing machine in the kitchen.
-The living space is more than ample, tv has a bunch of italian cable but also BBC news, AC is available in every room and works fine, that is a snooker table you see in the pics and the felt is a little beat up but that's a minor issue compared to how frustratingly small those snooker table pockets are.
-The apt. is full of paintings, books etc and has a very lived in feel, you also cannot help but notice the many awards for Claudio Angelini whom you can look up on wikipedia
- The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms have low ceilings which really isn't a big deal since you will mostly be sleeping there and there is ample common space elsewhere.
- The 3rd bedroom, which we did not use looks like its a single or double or a pull out bed of some sort since we didn't use it we never really found out
- This apt. is old and shows it in some places like the bathrooms but everything is functional and these little issues are easily overlooked.
- The wifi does not penetrate the entire apt.
- No laundry detergent or paper towels we bought the first but not the second
The location of the apartment is terrific. Walkable to all the major sites. The terrace outside is wonderful in the morning sun. AC worked well, and it was hot when we were in room.
There is an old pool table in the property, but not usable due to torn felt. The shelves are filled with books on many subjects giving it a very lived in feel.
The beds were not adequate for 8 adults. One of the double beds is a fold out couch in a common room. Another is a day bed which would work fine for children. It also helps if 4 of the adults are very short, as 2 of the bedrooms have extremely low ceilings.
The coffee pot carafe was broken, and not replaced. Be prepared to buy or bring dishwashing soap, toilet paper and paper towels.
The elevator worked fine and was helpful with moving luggage.
This apartment is beautifully furnished with antiques, lovely art work, and books all in the old Roman style. It gets very high marks for style and elegance, as well as location on the Via Giulia, one of Romeʻs most elegant Renaissance streets. It is very close to the lovely Piazza Farnese (my favorite Roman Piazza), the Campo dei Fiori, and Piazza Navona, and yet is reasonably quiet. It has two terraces with delightful views over the rooftops of Rome and even has a good view of the River Tiber. Olga and Manuel are delightful to work with, though I personally feel that it would be so much easier for all concerned if payment could be made by Credit Card. There was some confusion and inconvenience having to pay either by cash or Paypal. The apartment is very spacious, but not all the sleeping arrangements are equally comfortable. The kitchen was rather poorly equipped and neither it nor the bathrooms were as clean as we would have liked (old, dirty sponge, no paper towels etc). It was actually quite difficult cooking in the kitchen and I would recommend, instead, enjoying the many lovely restaurants nearby.
