The house is 1 1/2 story with a relaxing atmosphere located in Houston MN. This is the perfect house weather you are wanting to enjoy some time away, hunting, fishing,or just a fun filled weekend enjoying the beauty of the bluff country in the driftless region. A perfect setting to step back from the fast pace of life and enjoy some peace and quiet.
Cook in our modern kitchen or head downtown Houston (6 blocks) to the businesses.
Houston is the home of the eastern bike trailhead of the Root River State Trail and the International Owl Center. Enjoy biking, cross country skiing, or walking on the trail taking in the scenic views of the Root River. You can also enjoy canoeing, kayaking and tubing on the river.
There are two queen bedroom on the main floor. Upstairs there are two bedrooms ( one queen and one full).
The kitchen is furnished with basic supplies such as pots and pans, tableware, basic seasonings, snacks,etc.
Upon arrival the bedroom comes with fresh linens for each stay along with clean towels, wash clothes and hand soap. There are extra blankets in the closet.
Whole house with keyless entry, personalized code upon confirmation.
Please respect the privacy of the neighbors next door on both sides.

This was a great location. The neighborhood was quiet and friendly. We were in the area for a long weekend of exploring the bluff country on bicycles and motorcycles and Houston is a good central point to take off from. The house itself was spotless, and the beds were very comfortable. It could use a little more seating but is overall a great place to stay.

We really like the house but wished they would have said the 2nd bathroom was on the basement and not upstairs with the bedrooms. It was great having a bowl of goodies to snack on.

It was clean. The entrance door handle on the porch appeared to be falling off. The toilet on the main floor could be taller. Air conditioner worked great. Home was odor free. Could have used a second couch in living room or couple of recliners. Window in living provided NO privacy from the street or neighbors. Could use a new blind. Kitchen had what was needed for a comfortable stay. Privacy / room darkening shades / curtains in front main floor bedroom would have been good. Bed was comfortable.

Welcome to Grandma’s house

The nostalgia was great it felt like visiting grandma’s house. The cleanliness was not as described my husband ended up putting his foot under the living room rug and what came out was not pleasant, it appeared that the cleaning staff had not cleaned under it for quite some time. Also that same rug appeared in vacuumed again for quite some time, as I did pick up several hair balls from pets that had staged.

Relaxing Home in the Bluff area

Our stay was wonderful and everything was in place for a relaxing weekend. Houston is a nice town to stay and visit. Highly recommend a stop to International Owl Center that is right on mainstreet. Thank you we hope to return next year.

Quaint, relaxing reunion stay

The house is cozy and comfortable. We had a four-night stay while visiting the area. My mom needed some quiet downtime between activities and this was the perfect spot for it while allowing me room to move about and relax. While it's not the most modern home (it's not meant to be), it still provided everything we needed. I prefer the classic over the modern. The owner was a peach. Very responsive to our needs. The rental is new to the market and the owner is making changes constantly to create a pleasant experience. I'm hoping to go back next year and see what has changed, while keeping the classic charm.
