Remodeled 3 bedroom home located in the SE corner of Minnesota in the small historic Mississippi River town of Brownsville, just off State Hwy 26 in the Driftless Region. The home is a short 13 miles from La Crosse, WI, New Albin, Iowa or Caledonia, MN which makes it centrally located in the region and a convenient place to stay while enjoying local attractions or events. Visitors enjoy fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, boating, biking, entertainment at local establishments, observing swan and eagles at the Brownsville overlook or just hanging out with friends or family. While spending time on the Mississippi river, this property is close to river access points and has plenty of parking space to accommodate your boat and trailer. During winter months, crafting groups enjoy gathering with friends and is also a great place to stay while ice fishing in the area.

There were six of us for a ladies weekend. The house had everything we needed, was clean and comfortable. Sunrises over the river were amazing. Don’t miss the Time Out Tavern in La Crescent, Grandad Bluff and The Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse.

Greatly appreciate the review! Thanks for supporting local businesses during your stay. I'm so glad you were able to see the Shrine. You had a great day for the hike up the hill and everyone must see Grandad Bluff at least once! What a view. Hope you can come back and visit again sometime and take a La Crosse Queen boat ride, visit our marina during summer season or watch the bird migration in the Fall. It's a spectacular site. Lots more to see.

The house was clean and enjoyable. The host was welcoming and communicative. We enjoyed the amenities including movies and games. There were loud trains that passed by several times at night, but the hosts can't control that. We've rarely seen ahouse so well-supplied in terms of kitchen items, towels, etc - much appreciated! Overall, the house was as advertised, and we enjoyed our stay.

Comfortable house and great location!

The beds and living room were very comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, and the view was beautiful. We enjoyed going down to the river/beach, which was just a few minutes away. Wonderful visit and we hope to stay here again!

Nice cabin

Overall, great stay. The noise from the early train and construction in the neighborhood were a bit of a bummer for sleep and sitting out on the deck.

Great Family Stay

We had a great family get together for the Christmas holiday. The house was comfy and cozy. We enjoyed walking through the little town. Excited for the possibility to visit again sometime in the future during the summer months.

We really enjoyed our stay! The house was beautiful with a great view of the river. Great choice of bed layout with a full and a single in all bedrooms. So if you are sharing a room, you don't necessarily need to share a bed. We would definitely recommend!!

Small Town Gem

Nice updated home! We enjoyed the small town feel that came with it too, yet it was very easy to drive into the LaCrosse area in just 15 min. We will definitely look for this property when we’re back in the area.

Very cozy

We loved staying at Dawns rental. She was wonderful to work with. The whole house was stocked with everything you needed. The beds were comfortable and our whole family was very cozy all weekends. We loved the location and really enjoyed the deck with the view. We hope to go back again soon.

State track stay

We rented this property so we could have a place close to LaCrosse to stay so we could watch our son at the State track meet. Very nice place!! We didn’t spend a lot of time there but when we did it was great. It had everything we needed!! Beds were comfy. Dawn was great to work with!! Definitely a nice getaway!!

Great stay in Brownsville with a group of friends coming into town for a fishing tournament. House was clean and well stocked with everything needed. 3 trucks / bass boats fit without issue and a short drive to the ramps used on the river. Check in was smooth and we were walked through everything we needed to know. Would stay here again should events bring us back to the area.

Home away from home

We highly recommend a visit to this property. The view from the deck is fantastic and it provided all of the things that we needed on our stay. This was our sixth vacation home rental and it provided more amenities for the guests than have experienced so far. Brownsville is an awesome little town. Had an absolute ball at Saxons pizza with our waitress, Dawn. Boat ramp at wildcat campground was very close and an easy launch for our boat. 11 family members fit just fine in this home. The owners went above and beyond our expectations. Loved it and will return in the future! Jerry & Lori Rowland

House in Brownsville

View was great. We got in without any issues. The owner wanted us to confirm that we arrived and settled in but we couldn’t because the app was not working during the time we were there. We were able to communicate by telephone adequately. We were surprised by additional added fees and other charges that were added on after we committed to stay there. Ultimately the house was MORE expensive than larger newer houses that other relatives stayed at on the river

Michael - thanks for the feedback. I’m curious as to what additional fees and charges you had to pay? We have a set charge per night and a cleaning fee (which all owners charge), plus sales tax which is required by the State of Minnesota. Any other additional fees are based on the vrbo system usage fees. If you would have chosen a more expensive property, there would have been vrbo fees added there as well. It’s based on a percentage. Damage deposits are required as part of setting up a property with vrbo. I’m sorry you feel you didn’t get value out of our getaway. I wish you the best in booking with other places.

Family getaway

We very much enjoyed our time at this rental property. Everything was very clean, and we’ll kept. The beds were quite comfortable, and there was everything we needed for linens. My kids also really appreciated the games and puzzles that are provided during one of the rainy days we spent there.

Nice views! Comfortable and Relaxing!

Thank you for the enjoyable stay. The home had everything we needed and more. Dawn was very personable, nice touch to be there at check-in to show us around the place! We would highly recommend this property to others coming to this area! Although it is in a small community, nice restaurants, hiking, boating and entertainment are within a 20 minute drive.
