Best View!

The view off this balcony might be the best view from any hotel we’ve stayed in. It is breathtaking. The host was very helpful and informative. The check in process was great, but you have to go a ways to your room so they drive you in a golf cart. The location is beautiful and the resort pool and hot tub are great. Keep in mind you have to drive 15 mins or so to get to restaurants or grocery unless you’re eating at a hotel restaurant. But it is to be expected in Kauai- lots of driving to get anywhere! The a/c gets nice and cold but only in the living area and one bedroom. The other bedroom got warm at night. The beach is a ways down the hill but if you request a golf cart they will drive you there too.The only big negative for us was the bedding. The sheets and blankets are thin and scratchy and the pillows are flat. The rooms are also pretty dated, the pictures looked nicer. All in all it was a great trip!

Aloha Alisa! I am glad you had a great trip! I wish you had let me know or the front desk about your sheets and pillows. Would have been an easy fix. Also, for next time there is a Foodland grocery store 2 miles from the Resort at Princeville Center. There are also a couple of restaurants there as well as an ice cream shop and a shaved ice stand. Sorry you missed them. Thanks for taking the time to review my property.

Family Vacation

The condo was as depicted. It was spacious and comfortable. The living area had a Murphy bed (which I missed in the description) so each of my 3 kids had their own bed which was nice. The view is spectacular! It rained the day before we arrived and we had the most magical view of waterfalls all over the mountains above hanalei as well as the bay. The kitchen was a bit sparse-as an example there was only 6 plates so as a family of 5 that meant washing dishes after every single meal vs filling up the dishwasher. Laundry in unit was a big plus. The second bedroom does not have ac as described so it did get rather stuffy. There are two mini split units one in the master and one in the living room. I was also not completely clear when I booked it that this is a time share so I don’t think you always will get the same unit maybe just the same style. There was also an additional fee collected upon check in by the time share company that runs the resort. The beach you can access from the resort was lovely. The pillows could use a serious update but the beds were comfortable. One of the big downsides to our trip was how limited restaurants were in general especially right in the area. The few we went to also did not seem super jazzed about accommodating families. It was an overall theme I got in Kauai. I’m not sure if they aren’t in love with tourists or just not fans of little kids as a theme. It was our first trip to Hawaii with kids in tow.

I also appreciate your detailed review to help other travelers with their booking decision. I would like to clarify a few things. I wish you had let me or the front desk know about the pillows and plate situation. It is a very easy fix and we could have sent you more plates and new pillows. Also there are no Timeshare resort fees. There is a $50 check in fee and a daily Hawaii Transient Tax. This tax is charged at all lodging properties in Hawaii. Both fees are detailed in my listing on VRBO. We are proud to have such an amazing resort with so many amenities and not have a daily resort fee. Lastly, I am very sorry to hear that your experience with the local restaurants was not good. I am so surprised to hear that as Kauai is a very family friendly Island, as is Princeville and Hanalei Bay Resort. The two restaurants on property are casual and should welcome children. There are also 3 restaurants next door at Hotel 1. And there are many family friendly places to eat in the Princeville Center 2 miles from the resort. Excellent! Condo is just as pictured. Lovely short walk to the beach. Several restaurants nearby. Short drive to Hanalei. Would gladly stay here again!

The property was nice but there were a few things that could be improved. The oven and the toaster were not working. We did let front desk know but didn’t want them doing a repair in our room during our vacation. The wait for golf cart rides was long.

We had a great stay at this property! Everything was as expected based on the listing and photos. Clean, comfortable, spacious. Amazing views from the lanai! Lovely pools and hot tub. We wanted to space and benefits of a condo, plus resort amenities, such as restaurants and pools, and Hanalei Bay met both needs fully. The owner reached out to me ahead of time with suggestions for restaurants and activities, which we did use and were very happy with. We visited 5 or 6 beaches on Kauai and liked the beach right at the resort the most. We walked there, down and back up the hill, but saw many taking advantage of the free golf cart rides. I would definitely book here again on a future trip to Kauai.
