Just a 30 minute ride from the original 1969 Woodstock Music Festival site and present day Bethel Woods Center for the Arts, Joe’s Hideaway is made for large group glamping and is well appointed for those larger gatherings.
3 spacious Four-Season cabin tents that are all privately situated away from each other, are surrounding a remote deep pond with large bonfire peninsula at its center. Each individual tent site has its own more intimate fireplace/bbq pit. Each of the 3 permanent safari tents is secured on its own raised post and beam roofed platform, totally suitable for the occasional inclement weather.
Tents are equipped for sleeping:
- 2 in a Queen-size bed
- 2 in a King-size bed
- 4 in Double Queen-size bunk beds
The small recreational cabin for entertaining on rainy days can accommodate 4 on 2 sets of twin-size bunk beds, for a total of 12 campers at $180 per night.
2 additional private tent platforms are nearby but likewise privately set, for bring-your-own instant-up tents.
This could bring the grand total to 16 campers or $240 per night.
A large party gas grill plus 1 conventional grill will make your nightly barbecue easy and quick.
There is a double bath house, each side with sink, shower and toilet, within walking distance, with both hot and cold running water. A commercial 3 bay sink for kitchen use sits right out front.
We expect carry-in / carry-out. We charge a $100 refundable deposit in case carry-out was forgotten.
The several acre “glamorous” camping compound is located at the end of a half mile private road and is on French Woods Farm property. The quaint village of Hancock is a mere 7 miles away. 13 miles to charming Callicoon of the Delaware. The Delaware River and its East and West Branches are within 10 minutes from the site. Enjoy fishing, canoeing, kayaking or tubing. It’s just a mile to French Woods Golf Course and Country Club, and there are hosts of eateries in Hancock, Long Eddy and Callicoon.
Visit the Callicoon Farmer's Market year-round on Sundays, 11-2pm at Callicoon Creek Park and stock up on fresh produce, fruits, breads, pastries, and cheeses. Visit the museum at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. Or play a round of golf at the French Woods Golf Course. Take a ride on The Upper Delaware Scenic Byway, which is Route 97, as it extends from Hancock to Port Jervis, and visit the Roebling Bridge and other historic places and museums along the way. Or spend an afternoon with a river guide and learn how to fly fish. There are nice hiking opportunities nearby. Get ready for the most striking views of the Delaware River Valley from famous Jensen's Ledges.
Summer camps such as French Woods Camp, Camp IHC, Camp Equinunk, Camp Blue Ridge, and others in northern Wayne County, are all within 2-10 miles or less, as is a lovely wedding venue, Handsome Hollow, on quaint Delaware Route 28 outside of Fishs Eddy, NY.
