The Woodbury Cottage

This is an 1880s Cottage in Woodbury, NY. Mostly original nanny house for the Guggenheim estate. This is an older home in the mountains, an hour from NYC. It's well maintained, clean and rustic. The cottage has two bedrooms, one full bath, and a galley kitchen. The bathroom is on the second floor. The living room has a wood burning stove. Rooms are freshly painted and the original hardwood floors have been refinished. All appliances and mattresses are new. This house is for guests who can appreciate a vintage property. Enjoy the amenities and outdoor activities that Central Valley has to offer, including hiking, canoeing, bike trails, skiing etc. The home is two miles from the Woodbury Commons Outlets. Please note: VRBO shows the US Military Acadamy as a 6 minute walk. However, this indicates land owned by the military and not the actual Westpoint Campus. The campus is a twenty minute drive.

The cottage was super cozy in a quiet area plenty of nature had deer lees then 10 feet from me and watched ducks swimming in the pond across the street its close to alpt of realy good resturants. Plenty of stiff to do inside and out i was realy impressed with my whole stay and the owner was super responsive when i messaged him and he was very accomodating and easy to talk too

Very convenient location, close to the Bus stop to NYC, lots of dining options, Woodbury Commons and West Point. Frank is an excellent host - he is very prompt and extremely courteous. We enjoyed our time with our West Point Cadet visiting us when she could - it is within the 20 miles radius and about 25 minutes away

Quaint off the main road staycation location that is just the right distance from most major areas. Owner was very timely in getting back to us about any questions we had with the house. People have mentioned the multiple extension cords and connecting wires and older setup; consider the location like a Catskill cabin but closer down the Hudson Valley with some modernized upgrades to fit the house size particularly in the kitchen. All necessary amenities were included: cooking supplies, basic seasoning, coffee, cleaning supplies, etc. The heat was a little rough this week, but the multiple air conditioner setups helped keep us cool indoors; yes it was a little antiquated, but anticipated not having central air given owner's description and we were very comfortable. No issues with the washer/dryer, prior stay individuals might not have realized you need to leave the switch on when running the laundry until cycles complete. Plenty of outdoor seating spots for the 2 of us to play board games, enjoy the sunset, and just read.

I was in Woodbury a week for work and the location of this property was close to a vast variety of amenities. Clean, charming, park-like setting with lots of inviting outdoor spaces to sit and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings. Loved the character of this renovated old house! In terms of accessibility, be aware that the front entrance steps have no handrail and the one bathroom in the house is upstairs. Appreciated having washer and dryer onsite. The host was very responsive in communications. Would definitely stay here again when in the area.

I booked the location based on the description which stated it was 5 minutes from West Point. There is a small West Point satellite location 5 minutes from the house, not the real campus. The main campus is a 30 minute drive from the house. I felt that was deceiving. As other's have mentioned, electrical outlets proved to be challenging at times, especially in the kitchen. Lots of extension cords are being used. Owner was nice. House was clean.

Quiet stay

We were visiting family at West Point. The Cottage was clean and quiet. We didnt spend much time there as we were with family during the day. It was perfect for the two of us. One thing I would change is the some information on the listing. West Point is not a 6 minute walk. It’s a twenty minute drive.

Comfy Cottage

Really enjoyed our stay at this comfy cottage. Easily slept a family of 3 with plenty of room to lounge around. It's an older cottage, but the owner has added a lot of neat touches that make this a nice place to stay in this area.

Not for a winter stay

The house has tons of animal hair. I realize it’s pet friendly but it didn’t look the the place was cleaned before we arrived. The driveway was snow covered and there was no salt to put down. There are extension cords everywhere running the lights. There were no baking pans and no steak knives. The bedrooms had no heat. When we spoke to him he asked us what we wanted him to do. We said we wanted a heating guy to come out and he said that wasn’t happening and we could run the fireplace all night to supplement the heat. That was not acceptable to us

Cute house with relaxing yard

The yard, hammock and large porch were very comfortable. The wiring of the house made us all rather nervous- so many multi plug outlet splitters, a wires cut on the exterior of the house, some built-in lights not functioning. The kitchen is unevenly stocked: no colander to strain pasta, no veg peeler. But coffee and oil etc on hand, which is nice. A bit tricky to work with.

Electrical Issues were concerning

Property was quaint and clean. Beds comfortable. Property was nice for a short stay. while a microwave was included, it did not heat food. Also, the washer and dryer did not function; the washer shorted before it even began load sensing. The washer was plugged into an outlet adapter which buzzed when electricity was applied. We understand that when the house was built, electricity was non existent, but the retrofit seems a bit haphazard. There were MANY extension cords powering desk lamps & fans around the house. While lighting was plentiful, the house was lit almost exclusively by table lamps.

Great stay! Cottage is perfect this time of year, nice and cozy with everything you need! It was easy to get in and easy to check out. Lots of seating and hang out space both indoors and out. Great linens so I got a great night's sleep. Location is super convenient to Bear Mountain and Harriman State Park as well as the outlets. There is some minimal lighting in some areas, but very easy to deal with.

Absolutely Love!

This property and rental exceeded my expectations by far! The pictures do not do justice. Has everything you need and more to have a perfect stay. Everything was clean and it felt like home. Me and my sister stayed here 3 nights and did not want to leave. The property is beautiful! I read the reviews before coming here and I have to say there were two things said, that there was no microwave and not enough lighting. The host immediately got a microwave and updated the lighting! I found that so cute. Everything you need is here. They even have a toaster over that can air fry.This place was so cozy. We wanted a cottage experience and that’s what we got! A number of blankets and pillows.Host responded right away. I wish I lived there! Will definitely be a regular customer here! 😃. Thank you so much for a great experience!

For Shopping at Woodbury Commons

The property had difficult lighting which was not helpful for someone who doesn't have great vision. Things were difficult to find or reach in terms of lighting m Great property for having a dog friendly environment. However, it is on a very fast traffic street so be careful not to allow a dog or young child out by themselves. If you are looking to shop, great property. If wanting to relax not so much. The house is two stories with 2 bedrooms and one bathroom on the 2nd Floor. Beautiful home and property and great host. The house is a bit cluttered with knock nacks and slightly difficult to find space for your own belongings and bathroom assecories like cosmetics and tooth brush and outlets.
