The house was very clean and comfortable. We ate breakfast on the front covered porch every day of our 7-day stay. For several nights, we built a fire in the outdoor brick BBQ and enjoyed salmon, steak, and tuna we purchased from the nearby grocery store. The grounds of the property are spacious, and we felt as if we were living in a park. The location was central to everything we wanted to do on the island. Quite a memorable vacation!

A Slice of Paradise

A gorgeous 2 bed/2 bath house a short car trip from everything. House is within a gated walled area, beautifully kept with lots of flowers and trees. A great view towards Ponto that's even better from the second floor terrace. Behind the house is a beautiful view of the hills. We will definitely stay again!

Beautiful slice of paradise! Especially if you love the sounds of nature! Waking up to birds and roosters every morning was a delight. Sunsets from the deck were magnificent, the yard and bushes were lush and green. Perfect location, easy access to both sides of the island. The few times we had a question or needed assistance we were responded to promptly. Would love to stay here again some day!

The house is just beautiful and as indicated only about 12 minutes away from downtown Ponta Delgada.Vey nice and kept clean . A bit of a challenge for google map on the first day to find the location BUT it was as easy as it could be after the first try.Very beautiful land scape and security. Fely just like home. Appreciate Armando and Mr Rauls help. Great stay overall and would do it again .

A beautiful home at a beautiful island

We’ve had a wonderful stay at a wonderful place at a wonderful island, what an unbelievable experience! Our home was well furnished, has a calming living, two bedrooms (including bathroom) and a reasonably equipped kitchen. There were some minor maintenance issues but the owner reacted promptly and local people was available to support.

Island paradise

Our stay was amazing- just a perfect get away- so relaxing in every way. The place is even better than advertised- so roomy with lounge chairs to enjoy the morning sun and evening sunsets on an upstairs patio. Awesome get away, lots of space to stretch out

Beautiful property, with wonderful and responsive hosts. Team of local support that provided anything we needed. Washing machine and line for drying worked great for us. Well stocked kitchen. Beautiful top deck to relax and see the city lights in the distance at night and ocean during the day. Would highly recommend a stay at this typical Portuguese home. ❤️

Azores sister adventure

We loved the house and location is central to quickly access north and south coasts of the island. Property plantings were special and having a working gardener planting out the summer crops was fun to watch. Any questions were quickly addressed by owners or the property caregivers. They take pride in the island and in their property. Highly recommend. Abrigado! Armando, Mary, Helena, Pedro and Frederico. We hope to see you again!

Excellent home from home

I (Dave) stayed for 3 weeks to escape the Canadian winter and to get some biking and hiking exercise. My wife, sister and 2 daughters joined me for the last week to tour. The ladies rated the house and extensive grounds excellent, particularly the log fireplace in the living room. The rural location, set in the volcanic hills near the village of Cabouco was very beautiful and I did a lot of interesting bicycling on quiet well surfaced roads. The January weather was great for outdoor activity, daytime highs about 17 to 19 C, overnight about 14 C, very little rain, overnight, and plenty of sun. We had only very minor problems, and the owners, Armando and Mary were only a phone call away, were very helpful and themselves called on neigbours to assist us. We would love to return.

Enjoyed but could be better

We enjoyed our stay, however our realistic feedback: great quiet peaceful location, pretty views, good highway access, 5 min to grocery, property mgr was quick to help with issues (power outage, entrance gate stuck). Inside needs improvements: kitchen needs a thorough cleaning, very poor lighting in all rooms and furniture is dark so inside house is quite gloomy, beds are ok but pillows rock hard, smells musty, bedrooms could use ceiling fans, had a few large roaches inside when we arrived but that's common in this climate. There are cows, roosters and dogs in the area (not on the property) so you will occasionally hear them in the distance (and maybe smell manure), it didn't bother us because we like the country, but it could bother others.

Beautiful Island, Charming House.

Armando's Chateau Country House was the perfect home for my wife and I on our five day visit to the island of Sao Miguel and even better than it looked on the website. It is very nicely furnished with an extremely well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed and very clean throughout. Even though the weather was not great for our stay, we took adavantage of the large covered patio to take our meals and sip our wine while looking at the lovely grounds and views of the hills and Ponta Del Gada. On a couple of occasions we saw beautiful rainbows. The house is in a perfect location for exploring the many wonderful sights to be found on this beautiful island, centrally located outside a very quiet village so that every sight we wanted to see was within easy reach by car, which I believe is essential to be able to fully enjoy this island. All in all it was a wonderful stay for the both of us. Although Armando was not on the island while we were there, his concern for our enjoyment was evident in his keeping in touch by phone and e-mail. Thank you Armando and your cousin Maria for your warm greeting and helpful hints to make this first part of our Portugal vacation a memorable one.

An Adventure in the Azores

We had a wonderful vacation on Sao Miguel this June and stayed at this villa. It was a perfect size for our family of 4 with a modern kitchen and 2 roomy bathrooms. The grounds and gardens are gorgeous and well maintained. We rented the owners mini-van through Car Amigo to get us around the island, A car rental is a must. The van was older and we had a few problems with it when we started our week but overcame them. We were picked up at the airport by the owners housekeeper Helena who was lovely. She gave us a quick tour of the area, showed us the supermarket and around the villa. Armando checked on us daily with many suggestions for area attractions and was very helpful when we had questions or issues. There is a washing machine but no dryer so don't do your wash on a rainy day. There are plenty of clotheslines to dry your clothes though ,so plan accordingly. The mattresses are a bit firm, more then we are used to so we had to adjust to that, and play musical beds until we found the right fit. My husband is 6ft 7in so he struggled to fit in the bed, but thats not unusual. The second floor porch is lovely to have your morning coffee! The area is ideal because it's close to the city but in the country. Cows graze on the hillside pasture across the street and the sound of the doves in the morning is so peaceful. The market is a 5 minute drive and very affordable, wine and cheese are amazing and the people are friendly and helpful. The area attractions are fairly close: thermal baths, a waterfall, beaches, markets, botanical gardens, scenic overlooks etc. The roads are well marked and maintained, the island is clean and not many bugs! It's like the Caribbean without the heat. I would recommend the villa to anyone, it's a clean, comfortable home with all the modern conveniences you need. Thanks Armando for a wonderful stay!!!

Nice house with some Unfortunate circumstances

My husband and I planned to stay a week at Vivenda A the second week of June. Armando was very helpful at answering all my questions before we arrived and arranged for his housekeepers to pick us up at the airport and show us around on our way to the property. The grounds and views are spectacular. The house is roomy and clean. Unfortunately it was unusually hot and humid and the house was ver damp. The beds are small so my husband and I slept in separate rooms. We had to open the inside windows( there are shutters and metal grates on the outside, that we were told not to open) to get some air in the rooms. There were many dogs in the area that barked all night. I had to put music on to drown out the barking. There is also a cow pasture next door and although it is very pastoral to look it,it can send smells into the house if the wind is blowing uphill. We left two day early because there were large brown cockroaches in the kitchen and bedroom. I am aware that these are common in hot and humid areas ( my son has them sometimes in NC) but this wasn’t one or two flying in. The screens were closed at all times and we killed 4 on the kitchen counter, 1 in the sink, 3 on the floor and a couple in the bedrooms. When I am on vacation I don’t want to be spraying for bugs. I read all the other reviews before I booked this property and no one mentioned the things I did, so I don’t know if this was unusual but I do believe it needs to be mentioned. Armando was very concerned about us leaving early and wanted to rectify the situation but I just wanted to get home to my own bed.

Schönes Haus in herrlichem Garten

Das Haus liegt sehr ruhig und dennoch sehr zentral, um alle Sehenswürdigkeiten São Miguels anzusteuern. Der „Garten“ ist eigentlich eine wunderschöne, gepflegte Parkanlage mit alten Bäumen, Blumen und toller Vegetation. Wir waren zu zweit im Haus, sodass die zusätzlichen Schlafzimmer im 1. Stock abgeschlossen waren. Dennoch durften wir die Terrasse im oberen Stockwerk nutzen, von der man einen tollen Blick bis zum Meer und Ponta Delgada hat. Im sehr geräumigen Haus, in dem auch zwei große Badezimmer sind, ist alles vorhanden, was man als Urlauber braucht. Das Haus ist sehr ordentlich und sauber. Es lässt sich aber aufgrund des feuchten und relativ warmen Klimas nicht vermeiden, dass Insekten, vor allem Motten, und vereinzelt auch mal eine Kakerlake ins Haus kommen. War aber kein Problem für uns.
