We appreciate your feedback, Kevin. However, I strongly disagree with your assertions. I and my team has combed through our communication and found no signs or tones of condescension. In fact, when you asked for a discount at the start of our exchange, I was more than happy to oblige. So, let's dissect: 1) The reason I asked you to double check the bathroom for the shampoo is because, although I believe I have a strong team of housekeepers, they are only human and sometimes they forget things like humans do and sometimes they leave them in the cabinet or elsewhere. I do not accost them for minor mistakes like this especially, if they have multiple houses to clean in a day. Additionally, this is a vacation rental not a resort, there is no one on call to come over and drop things off at a whim which is why I asked that you double check the bathroom to be sure. 2) "Safety Concern"/ Fencing. As a self-proclaimed traveler, you should know that a travel experience can benefit greatly from basic research, as well as observation. If you look around Hopkins, you will notice that most properties on the beach do not have fencing and the borders are defined by hedges/plants. this is because as per annual criminal reports, Hopkins is one of the safest locations in the country. Also, you can see from the photos on the booking site that there is no fencing on the property. 3) Deadbolts. Upon your checkout- we cleaned up and I personally went over to check the locks and they all worked fine. if you were having issues as some people do with unfamiliar locks, you should have informed your host & maintenance would check in on it. 4)"Vagrant" at backdoor. In such an event, this is considered trespassing, and the police should be notified. if the host is not made aware of this then how are we expected to act? Though this event is very unfortunate, and we are sad that you had to go through that. However, this event is also out of our control and has nothing to do with the accommodation itself and is a matter for the authorities. 5) Sale Solicitation. We do not have any security personnel, and neither can we control who walks the beach. Unlike many other countries, the beaches in Belize are accessible to the public (66ft from water toward inland) as everyone deserves the right to enjoy such a beautiful gift of nature. There are many handlers who walk the beach to sell their crafts, snacks, etc. This, I'm afraid, is also out of our control. As for the timing I can hypothesize that it was a Mayan couple as they are known to leave their district/villages very early in order to sell their crafts in the tourist areas. If you do not wish to buy you can just ask them to leave. You cannot feign interest and be shocked that they stick around. Some 6) "leaking ac". Again, simply asking questions or doing a little research would have been beneficial here. We are in the beginning of our hurricane season= heat+humidity. This often causes a bit of condensation on warmer days. 7) Bedding. Our bedding is not polyester. Also, there is Ac in the house to deter the heat and humidity. Though we wish we had the dial to alter the climate to fit our needs and those of our guests, nature does not work that way. 8) No light/ hood over stove. In Belize, most houses no not have hoods over the stove. We open windows and/or doors while cooking to get...fresh air? And again, you can see in photos that there is no hood over stove and neither was this listed in the amenities. 9) WIFI/ Electricity. Research/asking questions is very beneficial in different countries. The entire country has been having sporadic outages due to our main power provider. As a domino effect it affects the Wi-Fi at times. These outages are out of our control and the entire country has been subjected to them the past few months as a method of "energy saving". But they do not last the entire day (approximately an hour at a time). After which power, water and Wi-Fi are restored. even buying generators is virtually impossible because they have been flying off the shelves since this issue began. 10) Public Access. The culvert was designed by the road committee of the development and since it is public property we need permission to alter and have not had any complaints about it until now. 11) Bugs/ Mosquitoes. the next time you travel here I will send the bugs and mosquitoes on a vacation elsewhere ;) But on a serious note we use and recommend bug spray or mosquito coils when the flies are out (usually on less windy days) because the chemicals sprayed around properties for bugs only work for a very short period but the damage that it does to the ground water is long lasting and very detrimental to the environment. But I apologize that no one briefed you about tropical countries having bugs and mosquitos. Lastly, as it relates to the google map link, our agent simply relayed to you that the link worked on our end as well as for other guests. He also offered to screen shot the satellite location. the thing about messaging is that it is almost impossible to fully grasp tone because there is no oration or body language involved. So, before you assume someone is being condescending, keep that in mind. And considering the type of "traveler" you are, I would recommend staying in a resort next time. I strongly believe this would be much more suitable for your needs.
