Lissadell on the Sea
Lissadell on the Sea: Exclusive Holiday Rental on the Lissadell Estate, Sligo, Ireland:ââLissadell on the Seaââ
Holiday/Short term Rental available on the Lissadell Estate;
where â Peace comes dropping slowâŠ.â
Fantastic Privacy, Unrivalled views;
Welcome to âLissadell on the Seaâ, the beautifully renovated historic Stewartâs House on the Lissadell Estate,
Ballinful, County Sligo, Ireland, on the Wild Atlantic way.
Prepare to be entranced.
This is perhaps the most spectacular setting on the Atlantic Sea Shore that you could experience. When stepping out the front door of the property you step straight out onto the golden sands of Lissadell Beach, with the most enchanting ocean views against the dramatic backdrop of Knocknarea and Ben Bulben mountains.
âLissadell on the Seaâ has been extensively restored to capture all the drama and beauty of the Wild Atlantic Way, yet elegantly designed and furnished with all modern conveniences to ensure your comfort. The house and furnishings have been specially designed to make the most of the spectacular ocean frontage and views.
All windows are picture windows except the magnificent porthole from the SS Laurentic on the second floor.
Art Deco Celtic Design stained glass windows in every door allow natural light to illuminate the entire house. The rooms are furnished with an abundance of Irish Art from the Lissadell Collection including paintings by David Overend, Douglas Alexander, Wycliffe Egginton and Bingham Mc Guinness.
The plinth in front of the house, with its adjoining lawn, stretches over 140 ft. There are five seating areas surrounding the house, all of which are available for whatever mood suits you:
seclusion by the sea to write your memoirs, compose poetry, gather your thoughts, or simply relax.
You have views across Drumcliffe Bay to Knocknarea, burial place of the legendary Queen Medb of Connaught, famous warrior Queen, and to Rosses Point and Strand Hill.
Our visitors have pedestrian access to all the grounds across the Estate, including the Alpine Gardens.
The views from every single room in âLissadell on the Seaâ are spectacular.
A grass slope leads up to a woodland setting behind and to the West of the house, and will take you to the old lookout Tower from which the Gamekeeper in Lissadell maintained a watch over the rabbits bred in the Burrows, and which were a valuable part of the Estate in the 18th and 19th Centuries.
Behind âLissadell on the Seaâ is the historic Agentâs House, now in the course of restoration.
A special viewing area measuring over 1,000 sq ft has been constructed to the rear of the house providing an elevated view of sea and mountains on all sides.
Raised Breakfast Patio overlooking Drumcliff Bay and adjacent to the Secret Garden.
There is a delightful sunspot, created from specially selected Kilkenny flamed limestone flags. Kilkenny Limestone is a tradition at Lissadell, as the floors in the Mansion House entrance Hall, and the imperial Staircase, are constructed from Kilkenny Marble (polished limestone).
The windows, which were specially commissioned from Breffini Heritage in Leitrim, are made of mahogany, specifically treated to withstand Atlantic gales. Each window is a picture window, which allows for spectacular views from every room. You will feel like you are living in an Oil painting.
The Living Room fronts the Atlantic, and boasts an ornate mahogany fireplace for cosy evenings reading by the fire. The adjoining Study, with its fine Victorian fireplace, as well as LG 55 in Smart TV, can be converted to extra accommodation.
The main Bathroom, painted a Stiffkey Blue, has a massive Victorian roll top bath, state of the art rain shower, and heated mirror. The second Bathroom, upstairs, is also painted a Stiffkey blue, also has a state of the art rain shower and heated mirror.
There are two double bedrooms upstairs, with Victorian fireplaces and fitted wardrobes. The Master Bedroom boasts a special lookout area, with a porthole from the Cunard SS Laurentic, and a window with stunning views of Knocknarea, Rosses Point and the Blackrock Lighthouse.
