South Beach Penthouse is one of the most distinctive large-group vacation rentals on the San Diego coast — two full oceanfront residences combined into a single private home, occupying the entire third floor of an exclusive five-unit building directly on the Mission Beach boardwalk.

Each unit brings its own fully equipped gourmet kitchen, living room, oceanfront dining, and two bedrooms with en suite baths, giving groups of 10 to 12 genuine space to spread out while staying connected. We had a couple issues about the various lock codes when we arrived, however Bluewater were prompt in helping us. One bedroom had a window blind missing, and they were there within 20 minutes. We were staying here the week after Christmas so there were some rainy days, but it didn’t dampen our spirits, particularly our granddaughters. The boogie boards and wet suits were a huge asset. Would stay again.

Mission beach family trip

We really enjoyed our stay at this VRBO. We do a family trip every year for a week & this house couldn’t have been better. Location is great!! We plan to book this house for next year because we loved it!

Great location but very thin walls

The location was perfect for our family Thanksgiving gathering. It’s a short walk to Belmont park, steps away from the beach, walking distance to playgrounds for the kids and close proximity to restaurants. There is a place to wash off sand on the side of the building, which was very convenient. Parking was a little tricky with our bigger party, as each unit only came with one parking space. Street parking wasn’t easy to find and street sweeping was between 8am-10am Mon-Thu, meaning we had to figure out where to move our cars in the morning. Bedrooms were a good size and showers were really a treat. Sound insulation was quite terrible though. We were staying on the very top bedroom and could still hear kids running around two stories below us. There was also some kind of construction going on during our stay so it was hard to get the kids to nap. The condo is also situated directly below a flight path, so it was hard for everyone to sleep past 6am. Management was easy to reach, even though we stayed during Thanksgiving where most people were on holiday. We had issues with our place not having running water and also having the smoke detectors going off, but management was able to fix the issues fast. Overall I would recommend this place for adult gatherings and maybe not for family with small kids.
