The Sweet House - a private Antiguan getaway perfect for families close to beach

Sweet House is a private Caribbean getaway ideal for relaxing, loaded with amenities and high-quality furnishings for a perfect vacation. Located on a very private and secure fenced lot set back from the street, surrounded by shaded gardens, the house has a private plunge pool, an outdoor shower, new A/C throughout, and a Miele dishwasher and washing machine. Perfect location, just minutes away from a grocery store, restaurants, and amazing beaches and sunsets!

The house was recently renovated with a new fully equipped kitchen, updated bathrooms, new windows with insect screening/security glass, new air conditioning units and ceiling fans in each room, WIFI with fiber optic internet (the fastest available on the island) and new high quality bed linens and towels. The house can nicely accommodate up to 8 guests, with a maximum of 6 adults.

The house is very private and secure with a lockable gate at the street and a lockable garden gate at the house entrance. Up to 3 cars can easily be parked in the long driveway.

You'll feel nicely comfortable while in the very private and quiet outside spaces, in a peaceful neighborhood location with almost total privacy from neighboring villas,

The house is eco-friendly, with a PV solar generation system, a solar hot water heater, energy star appliances, LED lighting, organic linens, a rain-water recovery system, and an under-sink Alkaline UV Reverse Osmosis water filtering system.

The gardens will bring peace of mind to parents as young children can play in a totally fenced area set back from the street, with tremendous shade throughout the day. There are several varieties of palms on the property - including magical Foxtail palms (hi-lighted with special night-time lighting), a Bismarck palm, several Date palms, several Washingtonian palms, several Areca palms, and several varieties of fruit trees including bananas, limes, and lemons. There's also an outdoor shower amidst the palms for rinsing off after a day at the beach.

The terrace offers a high-quality Weber gas barbecue and a plunge pool, while the outdoor covered patio with ceiling fans allows a rest away from the sun, a wonderful place for gathering with friends and family, and an area with table and chairs for outside dining.

The interior of the house is un-cluttered, simple, with pleasing spaces and a clean aesthetic with beautiful large floor tiles and high-quality, comfortable teak, mahogany, and leather furniture.

The open-space kitchen, living, and dining area and high Caribbean style ceiling provide a relaxing, airy feeling for a perfect holiday spirit.

The kitchen is very nicely equipped with a new Miele dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, blender, toaster, utensils, cutting boards, tools, All-Clad pots and pans, and plenty of dishes and glassware.

Sweet House has an under-sink Alkaline UV Reverse Osmosis water filtering system that provides drinking water and ice for your enjoyment. There is a dedicated faucet for the system next to the kitchen sink faucet. The system is also connected to the ice maker within the refrigerator. You will find this system to be very convenient and you’ll be adding fewer plastic bottles to the Antiguan waste stream, all while saving you significantly versus purchasing water. There is also a chilled water dispenser.

The master bedroom has an ensuite bathroom while the 2 other bedrooms share the second bathroom. The house is very kid friendly with a child's desk and a few toys and books available in the children's bedroom. The kids' room has recently been equipped with a twin over full bunk bed aside from another twin bed.

All of the beds are furnished with high-thread count linens, pillows, and lightweight duvets. High quality bath towels are provided, as well as plenty of beach towels, and sand toys for the kids. An iron, ironing board, and hair dryer are also provided.

Guests have full access to the house, the garden, and the laundry room with a Miele washing machine in the small garage.

Sweet House is ideally situated - only 5 minutes walking distance to one of the main grocery stores and numerous fine restaurants featuring both international and local cuisine, car rental, bars, club, spa, golf course and general shopping, while a further 5 minutes afoot gets you to one of the nicest beaches in Antigua with amazing west-facing sunsets over the splendid turquoise Caribbean sea. Four of the best Antiguan beaches are also within 5 minutes driving distance from the house. The main road is a minute's walk and there are bus services to St John's and other destinations.

The Sweet House is a perfect place to spend an amazing vacation with friends and family, or a romantic getaway with someone special, in a very comfortable and private house.

The Sweet House is a registered and certified rental accommodation. It is listed in the ABTA website under the name "Sweet House".

To ensure a comfortable stay for all of our guests, we only accept a maximum of 6 adults and a maximum of 8 total occupants. If there are 7 guests in your booking at least 1 guest must be 8 years old or younger. If there are 8 guests in your booking at least 2 guests must be 8 years old or younger. If occupancy totals are not respected any additional guests will be turned away. This policy is strictly enforced with no exceptions allowed.

In October 2021 the government of Antigua & Barbuda introduced a tourist tax. As per this regulation, all tourists residing in paid accommodations are required to pay $5 USD per night for each guest over the age of 6 years. Regardless of where you stay in Antigua as a tourist (a resort, guest house, Airbnb, etc.) this tax will be due. As a registered guest house in Antigua we are responsible for collecting this tax and submitting a monthly report with taxes due to the government. Since the tax is based on the number of guests and their ages, this charge cannot be added at the time of booking as VRBO does not provide the ability to add this kind of per-occupant levy based on age during the booking process. Shortly after your arrival at the Sweet House we will send you a payment request directly from VRBO for the total tourist tax amount due.
