Perfect location - everything you need for PV!
The house is very cute, right in the heart of PV, 4 blocks from the malecon, and several tiendas and restaurants just a few yards away. The kitchen is well stocked with all types of supplies to make meals at 'home.' There's a fun hanging swing chair in the living room, and a super balcony to hear the fireworks every night and smell the ocean air. The open air concept is pretty cool, with a tree/plants right in the middle of the courtyard. Bring ear plugs however if you're a light sleeper - PV people (and dogs) don't sleep much! Anna and Tere are so nice and helpful as well. We would love to come back soon!

Casa Myito is without a doubt the most amazing, uniquely authentic place I have ever stayed at… anywhere in the world. I’ve been to Puerto Vallarta around 7-8 times at this point, and this is now the only place that I hope to book in the future. I couldn’t believe how beautiful everything was when the lovely Tere (casa manager) first showed me around. The unique architecture, open air, artistic touches, the warmth of the barrio… it was an experience I will never forget. Now I dream of taking an extended stay here someday. That said, this property is not for everyone! If you are looking for a classic sterile, hotel experience, set away from the liveliness of a real, working neighborhood, this is not for you. If you are limited in mobility, you’ll need a taxi to get up the hill. If you are a very light sleeper, it might not be for you (I am a fairly light sleeper myself and earplugs are perfect, I did not have an issue). The neighborhood is alive and beautiful. But if you want to feel like a local, you want to escape from the ordinary travel experience, to immerse yourself in the local culture, and get lost in the beautiful experience of a PV that is disappearing in parts… there is no greater option than Casa Myito. It is a great workout getting up and down the sometimes steep, but incredibly beautiful streets of Centro (again, taxi will do you well if there’s issues). Several very cute cafes/restos are within steps from the Casa. Walkers paradise. ¡Casa Myito, Volveré!

Lovely place but wet and noisy
Location is among a densely populated area so be prepared to sleep with ear plugs as the urban Mexican culture means lots of urban noise, lots of noise.
Try and book a time when rain is not in the forecast as you will be mopping the floors and moving your luggage from the closets to some drier areas of the house, which seemed to be the outdoor covered patio.
Overall the house is extremely quaint, just wished it did not rain during my stay or the neighbourhood was a bit quieter. And remember to put away any fruit or vegetables as the friendly squirrel will be enjoying your food. The house has an open portion and that squirrel will come right in for a visit. Other than the rain and noise this house is a nice place to experience a true urban mexican neighbourhood. Zona Romantica next year, much quieter.

House was nice not good for a disabled person! F
The house was nice! However, my husband looked up on VR Bi-o and he said it’s only five blocks from the Malon. I guess that’s correct but he didn’t say it was 1 million stairs to get down to the Kong and I’m blind so it didn’t work very well. Also, the owner emailed me and said she’s mad because I got locked out the first night because I went out on the porch to smoke And she said there’s no smoking in the property manager gave me a broken glass or broken tray to smoke there is no door knob if you go outside do not shut the door! Also there is no soap there is nothing provided if you need washcloth or bath soap please !

Hello Martina, I am very surprised by your review. I was very honest and transparent in our communication before you rented our house that it would not be recommended for a blind person as the quaint streets in the neighborhood are cobblestone, the house is on a hill overlooking the Bay, and it is not an accessible house for a blind person. Despite my honesty and transparency you chose to rent it anyway. I asked if you would have a helper with you to help you navigate the house and you said you had family there to help, but in fact you were traveling alone. It was very kind of my house manager to offer to help you and spend extra hours on her days, free of charge from the goodness of her heart. The house is clearly stated a non-smoking property, your first night there you broke this house rule and “locked yourself out of the house” to smoke on the eating patio which is part of the house. No other guest in the history of our house renting has ever done this, it would be with great effort to get locked out. We had to call our on-call manager to help you and had to pay her over-time fees which came out of our pocket. The house is fully stocked with towels, linens, shampoo, soap etc… It was all on the bathroom shelf to help yourself. I am hopeful that the readers of your review will be able to read through the lines that this was a guest who knowingly selected a house that would not be a good fit for her.

Excellent Budget Accommodations
The Casa is great! It has a well-stocked kitchen for preparing meals and cooking. A full bathroom with hot water. A shower with good water pressure that worked great once you got the hang of it. All good.
It wasn’t super clear on the website, but part of the inside ceiling is actually open air with a metal grate covering it. So it’s kind of like living outside. To be honest, it’s a bit like glamping, except you have a good kitchen and bathroom, and you don’t have to sleep on the ground or on a cot. The beds were firm but comfy.
I noticed other reviews about the rain, but there was none while we were there so it was not an issue at all. There were no bugs or critters inside.
I felt safe in the neighbourhood even at night. Sure there was traffic noise and music playing, but it was not constant and did not bother us much. When we were there we spent most of our time on the balcony — dining, reading, planning, hanging out — with the cool breezes and views of the neighbourhood.
All in all, a great place for a budget price. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

Charming but Rustic
Casa Myito is a charming, rustic and authentically Mexican. I was happy to come home to this casa at the end of each day. It felt like home. The location is excellent and the neighborhood though noisy (barking dogs, roosters and loud mexican music at night) is safe and the neighbours are friendly and helpful. I really felt I was in Mexico.
The only drawback for me was the state of cleanliness of the casa and its need of some tender loving care. Because of the wonderful design of the casa with its open air concept, it is exposed to all grit that comes in off the street. It did not appear to have been well dusted or cleaned before our arrival. Although everything worked well in the kitchen and bathroom, both rooms are in need of new fixtures and some tender loving care. It is the same case with the linens and towels. There was plenty of linen but they all need to be replaced. The towels for example are a bit threadbare.
However, I would return to Casa Myito in a minute just as it is because it is the real deal and it really is a charming little place. I just would have loved it more if it had been cleaner and lovingly cared for.

We are sorry that you did not have a positive experience but more than that, we are deeply saddened that you could not fully appreciate what our house and our neighborhood has to offer. Casa Myito is in a authentic neighborhood in the hills of "Old Town" Puerto Vallarta. Our hacienda was built by a famous Mexican architect on a very old cobblestone street, just 5 blocks up the hill from the oceanfront Malecon. It is nestled between the millionaires and the locals; Europeans, Americans and Mexicans live here year round. Old Town is a diverse urban environment with a distinctive local soundscape. Unlike a resort, Casa Myito is quaint and unique. See the photos. The tiles in our bathroom and kitchen are of a typical style. Our roof is made of traditional terra-cotta tiles. The furniture is authentic traditional Mexican style made locally. It's an open floor plan with a tree growing in the middle of the house. Casa Myito is not insulated from the typical street noises you'll find all over Mexican cities and towns, where real Mexican people live. You will hear the water truck announcing its advertising as it drives through the tiny streets. You will hear the Sunday evening family parties, the children laughing and playing late into the night. You will hear the nightly pirate ship on the bay shooting off it's cannon. You will hear the locals arriving home on their motorcycles. You may even hear roosters at all times of the day. When we visit, we find these sounds to be very charming and part of the experience of being in a 'real' part of Mexico. A typical feature of a small city in Mexico is that trash is collected on the street corner. This is the way they do it. Old Town is famous for it's Hollywood history. Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor each built their own homes 3 blocks from ours. The director John Huston, built his home, 1 block from ours. In the neighborhood there are small hotels with rooftop bars featuring 360 degree views of the ocean, city and surrounding hills. There are gourmet restaurants and tiny family Mexican restaurants. The corner bodegas are convenient for necessities. There is even a wonderful yoga studio with rooftop yoga. Old Town is truly a gem. If you are looking for an authentic hacienda, you will love Casa Myito

What a Dump.
My wife and I rented this supposed "Charming Water View Vacation Home" for the month of January 2017. Our first mistake was even stepping foot in this complete dump. We left after 10 days of misery and are still trying to recover from the experience. Let start with the neighborhood. If you enjoy having garbage stacked on every corner, dogs barking and people yelling at all hours of the night your in luck. The young lady who met us at the house informed us not talk to or engage the 5 or so men alway hanging around the building across the street. She informed us that they may try to get in the house. Very comforting. Upon entering this "perfect Mexican house" you will find a dirty barely livable structure filled with old worn out everything. The kitchen and bathroom are disgusting. The bed is basically a board. The bedding is old and just disgusting as is all the linen. This is a Mexican peasants house. You cannot drink the water in the house nor can you flush toilet paper. You must put it in the trash can and everyday throw it and your trash on the stack on the corner. Forget about leaving any food out on the counter as the rodents will eat everything. The bed and all the furniture is filthy and would not be accepted by any charity in this country. Did I mention that a street runs just below the bedroom window, forget about sleeping with the cars and motorcycles racing up and down all night. I don't know where the other reviewer stayed but they must either be friends of the owner or this is a step up from the trailer park they live in here. I could go on but no one should stay here it should be demolished. We have not asked for or received a refund nor do we expect one. This was our mistake "Caveat Emptor"

All of Puerto Vallarta has older plumbing and even many hotels ask that toilet paper is disposed in the trash can. If the water is not filtered, it is not safe to drink.

The perfect place to enjoy Puerto Vallarta!
We loved this little house in a local neighbourhood of Puerto Vallarta. While it is only 3 blocks from the malacon, it feels like you are miles away from the tourist crowds. The little "tiendas" on almost every corner have almost everything you need and the local veg and meat market is a 15 minute walk. Don't bother going to a supermarket, everything you need is within walking distance, and exploring the neighbourhood is great fun!
I will definitely stay here again on our next trip to P.V.

Stay here!
This charming place is my idea of the perfect Mexican house with indoor outdoor living full of charm and plants. It's a steep walk down the hill to the beach (6 blocks), but that's called built in free exercise. If you'd rather not, taxis for $4 are easy to come by. There is a bodega around the corner with everything you need, including cooked delicious Mexican beans, Tequila, fruit, toothbrushes...everything we asked for she had.

casita myito
It was a charming house in a charming area of cobblestone streets. It was very convenient and not far from everything. It was really special to have a cute place with a garden instead of a condo. But we had the bad luck to have a chilly day with big rain and we didn't enjoy the central open area in the house that day. I am only giving it a 4 because roof leaked but owner is fixing it, some other minor things too. We enjoyed eating at chez Elana.
