Summer house rental “Ancienne école” in RUSTREL (in the Provence, France)
The Summer rental “ancienne école” is the former elementary school of the little village called RUSTREL in the Luberon Region that is part of the Provence. It has been lovingly renovated and sleeps up to 8 people, offering all of the comfort you might wish for.
The site
The “ancienne école” is located in the village and provides a lot of privacy thanks to its elevated position. The terrace, garden and swimming pool are facing south and offer a panoramic view on the surrounding countryside. You can even see the Colorado Provençal, a small version of the American Colorado that made Rustrel known throughout the region. The garden planted with cypresses and lavender is fully fenced off and the pool has an electrical cover.
The former covered playground from the school is now a comfortable patio with a large sofa and armchairs from where you can hear the water of the nearby fountain and enjoy the shadow.
The house
The house sleeps up to 8 people: entrance is through the hallway into the living area with a fireplace and large television screen. On the other side of the hallway, you enter into a fully equipped kitchen and dining area with a woodstove. The stairs lead you into an open reading room from where you access 2 bedrooms on each side (on one side two double bedrooms and a shared separate shower and on the other side two other bedrooms, one with two individual beds and a en suite shower and one with a queen size bed and a separate bathroom). The house is decorated with antique furniture, art pieces and paintings, design sofas and armchairs.
The surrounding
In our village you have a delicious “boulangerie” (bakery), a grocery store with local products and even a post office! There are also two restaurants and the bakery serves also meals. The next town with all the necessary stores for daily life is Apt, a 10 minutes ride from Rustrel. On Saturday mornings there is the greatest market of the region with local produces (wine, cheese, vegetables, fruits) and arts & craft products. People come from all over the region to see it.
Around Rustrel - in a range of 25 miles - you can see the most fantastic villages of the Luberon like Ménerbes, Gordes ( as seen in “Emily in Paris”), Bonnieux, Lourmarin, Lacoste (there is the Savannah College of Art and Design), Isle sur la Sorgue (famous for its antique shops), Fontaine de Vaucluse.
