Wow – I’m very surprised by this guest’s feedback as we were very accommodating; providing chairs, grill, life jackets, grilling utensils, canoe, and allowing extra guests to stay. We accommodated all of their special requests. There was a request for additional cookware which we immediately supplied. We didn’t advertise a fire-pit, but had the guest requested one, we do have one available. High speed internet service is available, has been tested and it works. We showed the guest how to use it and explained if he had any issues to let us know so we could help him. We don’t advertise a beach area….so not sure why one was expected. The dock is wider than most and is as wide as allowed by law. This home has some of the best frontage on the lake; clean, clear with a gradual slope. It is a prime location on the lake. As for sharing the property, there are two homes. One has 2 people and the other is the cottage. There is ample parking for both, as well as two piers, two swim areas and two separate yard spaces for each party to enjoy. Homes in the area are nearby – and one can see that in the photos. It was a holiday weekend, and the lake was busier than usual, which is to be expected. We specifically explained to the guest prior to renting that this cottage is perfect for up to four guests. So, by bringing additional guests beyond the four, it would definitely be tight for them. They seemed to have a great time, spending the majority of the weekend enjoying the perfect weather, and the lake. This property is a great get-away, near Chicago and is very affordable. It is an even better value for boaters who are provided pier parking. For those seeking a more secluded space with more acreage, be prepared to drive about 5-8 hrs further north. Remember a bad day at the lake is better than a good day at work :)

Safety & the comfort of guests has always been our #1 priority. Guests agree to “house rules” prior to booking. Reminders are sent prior to arrival. The property manager provides a handout, reviews rules & walks w/guests showing them guest parking, guest pier & guest areas- contacts are also provided. We have rented our lakefront cottage to many families throughout the years; many returning yr after yr. Nothing makes us happier than seeing smiles & hearing the laughter of our guests & their families enjoying their vacation at the lake. Unfortunately, this guest did not understand that the rules applied to her. This was an experience we will never forget. The rules are put in place so that everyone’s stay is comfortable &safe. We rented to 2 adults & 2 children. But there were 3 unsupervised children, numerous adults &many vehicles throughout the stay. Facts: 1. There’s 2guest parking spots. Even though she was shown where to park, she choose to park where she wanted to park, creating her own spots, using more than the allotted spots& blocking others from parking 2. The guests took it upon themselves to use both piers, the neighbor’s electric, park their waverunners on the owner’s lifts w/out permission. They were on the neighbor’s property & piers & the owner received numerous complaints about guests being on their property 3. The 3 young children just wanted to have fun at the lake, but were left totally unsupervised where they played on the lake piers for hours & into the night w/no lifejackets, no flashlights, no outdoor lights– There was absolutely no supervision & no adults on site. This was completely irresponsible & dangerous 4. Guests were shown the areas for their use-this did not include the owner’s pier, boats, & boat lifts-so when the unsupervised children were running up & down the owner’s pier, jumping up & down on the owner’s boat &crawling on their boat lifts this was a problem- Even after telling the guests to please use the guest pier, they continued to use both piers & do what they wanted to do. Again –safety is our #1 priority 5.. Last day, 6pm, the lady &3 children depart, but her visitor stayed. We have no idea who was in the cottage, but subletting is not allowed We want our guests to have a great experience at the lake. We have a solid track record of families enjoying their stays w/no issues. When rules are followed, everyone can enjoy a safe vacation & make memories that will last a lifetime.
