Das Stoney Bay Beach House ist ein Steinhaus mit einem Schlafzimmer und einem Bad und einer 60 Fuß langen, überdachten Galerie. Es befindet sich in einer privaten Bucht, eingebettet in einen eigenen Privatstrand. Das Haus liegt in der Nähe des Ozeans und ist direkt nach Osten ausgerichtet, wobei die Passatwinde genutzt werden, um das Haus schön und kühl zu halten. Es ist eine der am wenigsten "fehlerhaften" Lagen auf St. John. Das Haus ist das einzige in Stony Bay, einem Teil von Privateer Bay. Die einzigen Nachbarn, die Sie sehen können, sind also auf dem BVI!
Sie werden keinen Lärm von Autos, Lastwagen, Bauarbeiten, Hunden, Hähnen oder Menschen von diesem unglaublichen Ort haben.
Das Wohn- / Esszimmer hat schöne 18-Zoll-Zypressen-Decken mit komfortablen, hochwertigen Möbeln. Sie können den Sonnenaufgang über Norman Island (auch bekannt als Treasure Island) und das karibische Meer bequem von Ihrem Pillow-Top-Bett aus beobachten. Die Galerie befindet sich ganz in der Nähe des Wassers und verfügt über eine Hängematte, Liegestühle, Adirondack-Stühle und einen Tisch mit 4 Stühlen für Mahlzeiten im Freien. Die Küche verfügt über alle Annehmlichkeiten wie einen Geschirrspüler und eine Frontlader-Waschmaschine und einen Trockner. Direkt vor dem Haus befindet sich ein Korallenriff zur Privateer Bay, wo Sie endlose Unterwasser-Erkundungen unternehmen können.

We had a wonderful stay! The home is peaceful and secluded—exactly what we were looking for. We especially enjoyed relaxing on the porch, accompanied by our friendly gecko visitor, and watching goats wander along the hillside.

Great home. The beach was pretty rocky and unfortunately that part of the ocean was mostly waves and seaweed when we were there in late September.Unfortunately, there was no water when we got there and we had to move to a different house for a night. That was very inconvenient. But, Whitni, the property manager was communicative and helped out the best she could given the circumstances.The home is at the east end of the island. It was a very nice home and wonderfully private. But if we went to st john again we would probably get something a little less far from things.St john itself is beautiful, but also lacks many easy resources if things go wrong.

Secluded Paradise

The house makes you feel like you have the island to yourself. Very private and beautiful. We spent the days hiking and snorkeling and enjoyed being at the house in the evenings to relax. We liked it so much that we never went out to dinner and opted to stay in and wind down from a busy day. I would definitely stay here again, it’s worth every penny. Thank you for sharing your slice of paradise with us.

Very Private

If your looking for seclusion and privacy, this is your house! Well maintained home with everything we needed. Loved relaxing on the deck, listening to the waves hit the rocky beach and watching the boats cruise by. Beautiful sunrises every morning. After visiting all three US Virgin Islands, St John is our favorite.

perfect rental for a perfect vacation

Our family of four spent 14 days at Stoney Bay Beach house. The house and property far exceeded our expectations. Most of our time was spent outside on the wraparound porch. There are many items available at the house to use at the beach including coolers, umbrellas, and beach chairs. The views on the drive to the far East End of the island from Coral Bay are spectacular. The privacy and tranquility of the property are truly special. What an incredible place to vacation on St. John!

Second Stay As Great as The First

We returned to the East End to stay at Stony Bay and are so glad we did. This place is ideal for those who enjoy privacy, sea breezes, insanely gorgeous island/ocean views, shell collecting, spectacular sunrises, magnificent stargazing. We enjoyed watching the hermit crabs and goats travel back and forth each morning and evening. The home has everything needed for cooking, laundry, beach hopping (chairs, coolers, snorkel equipment) or just resting either on the deck or right on the beach. The bed, furniture, towels, and dishes are all high quality so you'll feel right at home. Thanks to the owner, Bob, and the property manager, Whitni, for their support. We had a great time!

Paradise

House and location were perfect. Everything you could need was at the house. The house only has ac in the bedroom as stated but this is not a problem because the porch was a beautiful place to sit and enjoy the breeze off the water. Bed was very comfortable. Snorkel gear including fins and a cooler are provided. Owner and house manager were qucik to respond when contacted. Definitely get a 2 door jeep as suggested. The driveway was a little scary the 1st time down but after that it was no problem. The only neighbors we saw were the daily visits by the goat herd and the iguana.

Peaceful & Quiet Paradise Vacation Spot

If you are looking for a private, peaceful, beautiful St. John spot this is it. Comfortable and perfect if you want to spend the day lazing at the house and snorkeling out front or a great launch from which to explore the island. Sound of the surf, sunrises and sunsets. Rent a jeep and you will be all set. My only note is that the driveway is very steep with some tricky turns. Not impossible but I chose to park my car at the top and walk the driveway. The property managers, Bob and Betsy were terrific and were a part of what made it such a great place to rent. I want very much to return to this house. I see no reason to stay anywhere else.

Tranquility by the sea!

You couldn’t ask for a more private and exclusive cottage right on your own secluded beach. The host and his property manager were excellent communicators and the property was even better than described. The house was well equipped with everything you could need to enjoy St John. Coolers, beach towels and chairs came in very handy as my husband and I like to get up early and find new places to explore. We especially loved the surrounding grounds. The beautiful plants and greenery attracted humming birds by the dozens and the little sugar birds were all over the flowering plants. We are big on wildlife and never needed an alarm to wake us up as the goats (lots of babies) woke us up right on time. Happened to meet a few neighbors up the hill who were just lovely. If you are looking for a quiet retreat away from the hustle of everyday life this is the place to stay for sure. We just can’t say enough good things about our stay! We will be back!!

Stony Bay Beach House

The house and property are beautiful. Maybe some of the best views I have ever seen. The beach is very rocky. Not a good beach to paddle board on. This house is VERY remote. The internet access is spotty at best, non existent at worst. You will not be able to do any work from this property if you were planning to do zoom calls, or any online classes. Most people would not be affected by this ( you're on vacation) but my son was taking a college class over the summer and that was a problem. You will also not be able to stream from this property either. Again, that's fine for most people except that the home has a very tricky driveway and we felt like we needed to get back before dark. It gets dark at 7 and that's a lot of time for a teenager to get bored before bed. The property manager, Whitni, was very responsive to problems we had. Although, we had to get international roaming to make a call to her even with AT&T. I would highly recommend this property for a couple without kids. It was a little more remote than my teenager appreciated. It was nearly an hour to get to Cruz Bay from the house.

Stoney Bay Beach house was a beautiful house with a view that was unbelievable. I just loved sitting on the porch reading a book. The stars at night are a sweet treat. The moon was just past full the first night we arrived and was shining on the ocean in the backyard. I couldn't stop saying wow. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and there was a window air conditioner in the bedroom if you need it. The kitchen had everything we needed. We made breakfast there everyday and a few dinners. There was a tv/dvd with some movies, the majority were kids movies. But most nights we just read our books. The drive out there was farther than I anticipated. I knew it was 20 minutes past Skinny Legs, but it really is up and down over and over. If you are prone to car sickness (as I am) this might not be the best choice. The driveway is a doozy. This is my 9th visit to the island, so I am familiar with some steep driveways, but this one scared me. But if you like rollercoasters like my husband, this thrill will be just right for you. Our visit was May of 2018, post-Irma. The house and property was repaired by the time we arrived and was in pristine condition. The rest of the island was in progress in it's Irma/Maria clean up. About 1/2 of our favorite restaurants were back up and running. The beaches were all open (except Caneel) and beautiful, but definitely missing the sea grape trees for shade. Umbrellas just blow away. Consider bringing something that can provide you shade that's easily packable.

Beware

I read all the reviews and felt I was aware of all the possibilities. If you choose to stay here, there are some additional things you will want to be aware of: 1. If you choose to go to St. John in June/July/ August there is a high likelihood the beach at this location will have Sargassum (red seaweed). We were there in August and there was 10 feet of dead Sargassum on shore and additional 10 feet floating. The dead on shore is alive with bugs and smells terrible. 2. This was the absolute dirtiest beach I have ever seen. In addition to the Sargassum there was garbage everywhere- shoes, socks, glass, a bean bag, part of a boat, beanie, and the list goes on. 3. The beach is rock- large ankle breaking rock that makes walking difficult, especially if you are older and a little less agile. 4. The location is remote (as advertised). What isn't said is that it is remote enough that there are rodents (large ones from the looks of the feces they leave and the holes in the screens). When you arrive you will be instructed to keep all food in the microwave and the fridge. 5. We experienced power outages while we were there. The power was out 12 of the first 36 hours we were there. The heat was unbearable. While I understand power outages cannot be controlled, when we asked the owner if he was willing to work with us with some kind of reimbursement so we could go somewhere else, he was very rude and told us we should just roll with it and adapt. No smoke detectors-BEWARE

Beautiful solitude

Stony Bay beach cottage is a small gem tucked away in remote beauty. The house is built to withstand the worst of mother natures fury, yet quaint and cozy for endless relaxation. Of the two weeks we were there, two full days were dedicated to exploring the beach and enjoying the many moods of the bay and its wildlife. Truly a wonderful and secluded home that you will not want to leave. Whitni, the property manager was very attentive and helpful with all aspects of our stay. I want to thank Bob, the owner, for sharing his vacation home and creating such a lovely cottage amidst the raw beauty of Privateer Bay. I'd like to say otherwise to keep this place all to myself but, that wouldn't be fair to Bob. We will absolutely be back!!!

Back to Paradise!

We have stayed at this property several times and it never disappoints! Incredible views from the porch and beach! Snorkeling is excellent on calm days. The driveway is a challenge but also fun in a 4wheel drive jeep. We will definitely be back
