Zusammen mit meinem Mann und meiner Familie laden wir Sie ein, unser Haus auf Mount Desert Island, dem Heimatland des Acadia Nationalparks, zu teilen. Seaside Cottages teilen sich ein 7 Hektar großes Anwesen mit 500 Fuß kühner Granit- und Steinstrandküste zwischen Mitchell und Duck Cove direkt an der Blue Hill Bay im Küstendorf West Tremont. Die Einstellung bietet eine südwestliche Belichtung mit schönen Sonnenuntergängen.

Unser Standort ist privat, dezidiert unkommerziell und dennoch günstig zu den Einrichtungen der umliegenden Städte. Innerhalb von 10 Minuten erreichen Sie Teile des Acadia Nationalparks und in 30 Minuten Bar Harbour.

Das Aldernest Loft ist die zweite (oberste) Etage eines Cottage, das an unser Haus grenzt und einen Blick auf die Blue Hill Bay bietet. Die felsige Küste von Blue Hill Bay ist nur einen kurzen Spaziergang über den Rasen. Sie können Ihren Kaffee am Morgen auf den Felsen sitzen, während Sie unsere ruhige, friedliche Umgebung genießen. Wenn Sie hier ankommen, werden Sie wissen, dass dies Ihr neues Zuhause ist.

1) Wir vermieten wochenweise von Samstag bis Samstag.
2) Das Aldernest Loft ist rauchfrei. Es ist zu keiner Zeit drinnen erlaubt zu rauchen.
3) Das Aldernest Loft ist frei von Haustieren. Wir haben festgestellt, dass viele unserer wiederkehrenden Mieter allergisch auf Haustiere sind. Daher sind wir zu dem Schluss gekommen, dass wir keine Haustiere erlauben.
4) Das Aldernest Loft bietet Platz für vier Personen. Es gibt ein Queen-Size-Bett und zwei Zwillinge. Wir zählen Kinder, einschließlich Kleinkinder, zur Gesamtbelegung.
5) Kissen und Decken sind ausreichend vorhanden. Wir bitten Mieter, ihre eigene Bett-, Bad- und Küchenwäsche zur Verfügung zu stellen. Wir haben die Möglichkeit, zusätzliche 50 US-Dollar zu zahlen. 00 Gebühr, wenn Sie dies nicht tun können.

Great week!

Our plan was to spend the week exploring Acadia and Bar Harbor, (which we did, only 1/2 hour drive away!) but because we stayed in this cute little loft we also spent time in Southwest Harbor where there are nice shops and restaurants, that along with restful quiet nights.

A lovely cozy nest by the shore

Kathy and Jay were very helpful and accessible. The beds were incredibly comfortable. Internet was excellent for the three weeks we stayed. Both grownups were working fulltime and Zooming all day long and had few WiFi glitches considering the poor WiFi in other areas near by. This place is small, but it was plenty big enough and very comfortable for our family of four. A private shore is a 3 minute walk away. We loved our stay at Aldernest and recommend it highly to others!

Excellent experience

The apartment was immaculate and very comfortable. The kitchen had all of the essentials to make full meals. We made our breakfasts and lunches and then bought carryout for dinners. We found a couple of excellent restaurants in SW Harbor as well as a delicious bakery that also had wonderful pizza. There was a path down to a small rocky beach that was fun to explore. Good hiking within minutes in the quiet part of Acadia NP which was helpful during the more crowded weekend days. Kathleen was easy to communicate with during the whole process.

Aldernest loft

Great location. Helpful and responsive hosts. Adequate facilities. Great and covenient to have laundry on site. Kitchen lacked some things I consider basic. Only one small skillet, no griddle or larger frying pan. No vegetable peeler or small knife. Only small and very large pans. No salt or pepper.

We appreciate your comments on the kitchen equipment. We intend to have our kitchens well equipped during the whole season but somehow we were remiss in double checking before your arrival. The cottage is now fully equipped with missing items.. I do hope you will be able to come back and stay with us again when you visit Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park.

Vacation spot August 2021

Nice bungalow. We stayed in the lofted area on the second story of the house & did have guests below us. There were about 14 stairs to climb up to the apartment. Quaint set up. We ate breakfast in AM & packed lunch, & had access to kitchen supplies to make our dinner meals. It was about 30 min to get to Acadia National Park from our location. Setting was quiet & had a short walk to a rocky beach area, but mosquitoes were prominent as soon as you walked out the door. Shower access is a small 2x2 stall, but doable. Access to laundry facilities in our bathroom which was nice to take care of some loads before we came back home. No AC, but fans available & cross breeze was nice with windows open. We enjoyed our stay!

Thanks for the encouragement your experience with the mosquitos. August 21, 2021. After more than 50 years of operation, we have decided to begin treating for mosquito and tick control. We believe we are seeing a higher concentration of mosquitos in recent years. That has been unpleasant and for our guests and fo us. The increase could be related to the white nose syndrome that that has sadly decimated the bat population in the northeast. With the increased focus on Lyme disease and other insect borne diseases, we believe pesticide treatment is the responsible course. We recently had the first application by a ME licensed applicator and the initial results are a great relief. I only wish we had found this resolve before your visit with us...sorry!

Memorable family vacation in Acadia National Park

We truly enjoyed our vacation in Aldernest Loft. The place is very clean, close to the shore, and great for nice walks in the neighborhood. We also enjoyed swimming in the nearby lake , which is also suitable for small children. Nice restaurants and bistros were also within reach as we drove to the Acadia National Park. We liked the variety of trails available, of different difficulty grades. We also appreciated Kathleen's kind care.

Lovely little getaway spot in Maine

We loved our stay in Tremont in the cozy top floor of the property. The house was squeaky clean and welcoming, and we also took advantage of being a short walk away from the beautiful coastline (sunset was exquisite!) It was a bit of a drive over to Acadia and Bar Harbor but we appreciated being away from all the crazy tourism and found some really good restaurants and quiet shore walks closer to our area. Would definitely come back again!

Relaxing, cozy cottage loft a short walk to the shore

We really enjoyed our stay and would consider staying here again. Kathleen was very helpful and seemed very responsive to making peoples’ stay enjoyable. The place was very clean when we arrived. The space was efficiently organized for comfortable living. We really enjoyed and made good use of the stackable washer and dryer. The mosquitoes around the cottage and on the short walk to the beach kept us from using the Adirondack chairs and the charcoal grill outside the cottage. Would recommend getting a lobster roll at Archie’s down the street.

We appreciate your kind comments. Very candidly, we agree the mosquitos have been a problem. After more than 50 years of operation, in August 2021, we have decided to treat for mosquito and tick control. Anecdotally, our observation would be that we have a higher concentration of mosquitos in recent years. That could be related to the disease that has sadly decimated the bat population in Maine. With the increased focus on Lyme disease and other insect borne diseases, we believe pesticide treatment iis the responsible course. As I write this review, I am sitting on our deck on a quiet evening and I've only seen two of the little critters! A nice improvement for us and our guests.

Cute but not cozy

I was looking for a quiet area to relax. The area is definitely quiet, but the furnishings were not comfortable. There were no headboards on any of the beds. I needed more pillows too. There was no couch/sofa, just 2 wicker chairs. I could have used an ottoman at least to put my feet up. The table benches were a little rickety and moved every time my husband got up. These are things that you can see in the images, so I’ve learned a lesson about paying more attention and realizing what I need as far as creature comforts. There were no curtains on any of the windows and they are definitely needed in the bedrooms as it starts to get light at 4am! The kitchen was very nice. We had a nice view of the sunset from the windows. Very nice to have washer and dryer too. No water views from the loft, you have to walk across the property but it is beautiful when you get there. Another couple was in the downstairs unit and we could hear them talking all evening. I imagine they could hear us too. But I guess that’s anywhere. It’s a cute loft in great condition but did not provide the comfort I expected for the price point.

Overall Great Stay

We had a lovely experience at Kathleen’s loft cottage. It’s super close to Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse and not far from the bulk of Acadia National Park. The cottage is just a short walk to the coast as well. Kathleen was a great host!

A mellow getaway

The moment I arrived I knew I chose the perfect spot! The loft was cozy and inviting and the perfect size for 2 people. The kitchen was small but equipped with adequate utensils and pans. The bedrooms were clean and cozy. A bonus was the washer/dryer in the bathroom. It was such a lovely cute space. My host, Kathleen, was helpful and most welcoming, giving me a tour of the property and the way to the water. Coffee in the morning on the ocean was very special. The easy vibe of this quiet location made my trip to Maine memorable.
