Babich Building – B1 – Upper 2BR
Welcome to the Grape & Grain Haus, a beautifully preserved 1926 Neoclassical building located beside the iconic Kegel’s Inn—a historic 1924 Prohibition-era landmark. This property blends Milwaukee’s Old-World charm with modern comfort and sits in one of West Allis’s most vibrant and walkable neighborhoods.
A Building with Real Milwaukee History
Designed by The Hinckley Co. and originally owned by Paul Babisch, this two-story building once housed the Grape Juice Products Co., a creative part of West Allis’s Prohibition-era beverage culture. Its classic architectural details—brick façade, stone trim, shaped parapet, and ornate entryways—showcase the craftsmanship and bold style of the 1920s.
Today, the building is home to boutique apartments and Still & Oak, a craft distillery taproom on the first floor, making it a living intersection of Milwaukee’s historic grape-and-grain heritage.
The Neighborhood
You’ll be staying in one of West Allis’s most convenient locations:
• Walk to American Family Field (Brewers Stadium)
• 5 minutes to State Fair Park
• 10 minutes to downtown Milwaukee
• 10 minutes to the airport
• Quick access to the Summerfest grounds, lakefront, VA Medical Center, and Froedtert Hospital
• Surrounded by cafés, restaurants, local taverns, Walgreens, gas stations, and major bus routes
With easy freeway access, you’re truly minutes from everything Milwaukee has to offer.
Next to the Legendary Kegel’s Inn
Right beside the Grape & Grain Haus is Kegel’s Inn, one of the region’s most beloved German restaurants. Opened in 1924 and still operated by the Kegel family, it’s cherished for:
