You can take easy day trips to the Florida Botanical Gardens in Largo. The holiday lights run from late November to January 1 and they draw big crowds for a reason. St. John’s Pass Village and Boardwalk offers waterfront restaurants, shops, dolphin cruises, and a classic Florida boardwalk vibe. Clearwater Aquarium brings in families year-round. Tampa Lowry Zoo and the Florida Aquarium are also close enough for a half-day trip without feeling rushed.

Nature lovers will enjoy Sunken Gardens. Kids love Dinosaur World. Food lovers like heading up to Tarpon Springs for authentic Greek food and sponge docks. Hyde Park is great for shopping and people-watching. Downtown St. Pete and the St. Pete Pier stay busy with events, restaurants, and nightlife.

If you want to shop, Ellenton Premium Outlets is an easy drive. If you want sports, you can catch the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field or the Buccaneers in Tampa. Spring training brings several pro baseball teams to the area. And if you are up for a full-day adventure, Disney World and Universal Studios are about two hours away.

Indian Rocks Beach is a small, easygoing beach town, so getting around is simple. Most guests walk or bike. The beach, local restaurants, coffee shops, and parks are all close enough that you rarely need a car once you’re here.

If you want to explore farther, you have options.
• Jolley Trolley runs through the beach communities with stops along Gulf Boulevard. It’s the easiest public transit option for getting up and down the coast.
• PSTA Bus Route 59 connects to Clearwater and Largo for broader access.
• Rideshare (Uber and Lyft) is widely available and usually quick.
• Car rentals are easy to arrange at Tampa or St. Pete airports if you plan day trips or want full flexibility.

Parking around the beaches can get tight in peak season, so walking or taking the trolley often saves the headache.
