Discover the nostalgic Almanor A-Frame, a charming mid-century a-frame cabin with the ambiance of a treehouse and a view of the lake. The cabin is designed to comfortably sleep 4 adults and 3 children. The cabin has three levels, each with a bedroom and two full bathrooms. This retreat is part of the exclusive Lake Almanor Country Club; as our guest, you’ll enjoy complete access to private beaches and recreational areas within the club.

The space

Built in 1966, our 1280 square foot cabin is 20’ wide by 36’ length and features Scandinavian design wood work, exposed beams and nostalgic wood paneling classic to the mid-century era. The a-frame has been recently remodeled top to bottom with guests comfort and safety in mind. A mix of mid-century modern and rustic Scandinavian design gives guests a cozy “hygge” vibe.

The cabin interior

The main floor of the cabin features a bedroom, a full bathroom, the kitchen, dining table and family room with a pellet stove and 55” TV. The a-frame was perfectly built to offer the most privacy possible on the back deck while soaking in the view of the lake. The floor to ceiling triangle windows and back deck face east to capture the sunrises. The main floor cabin features real hardwood floors, original green GE vintage stove and newer red SMEG appliances. We have both drip coffee and a Keurig, whatever your preference may be. Our kitchen is fully stocked with all the basic spices, oils, cooking ware, utensils and serving ware. Note: Our fridge does not have an automatic ice maker but we do provide trays for making your own ice. We do not have any window coverings on the living room or kitchen windows, so the sun may be bright in early morning hours. The main floor bedroom features a queen bed, night stands with USB ports in the back of bedside lamps, a dresser and full size closet.

Head upstairs to the upstairs bedroom with the classic vaulted “A” ceiling. This is the largest of the bedrooms and has a queen bed, bedside charging station, dresser, pack-n-play and coat rack. The loft upstairs is perfect for getting cozy with your favorite book, playing a record, practicing yoga or making a drink from the bar. We also have a dedicated work from cabin desk (high speed WiFi provided).

Take the spiral staircase down to the walkout basement where you’ll find another full bathroom, a laundry closet with a full size washer/dryer and three twin beds (one is a pull-out trundle). We’ve designed this lower bedroom with the kids in mind to connect with nature. The wallpaper mural features a photograph from local artist Jake Edwards. We provide plenty of books, toys and board games for kids (and adults) of all ages. The back door will take you underneath the deck to our backyard and horseshoe pit. Please note our walkout basement is open to the living room via the spiral staircase, so noise may carry from living room down to this bedroom area.

All of our bathrooms are equipped with plush spa-like towels, soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion for guests. Theres a first aid kit available in the ceiling cubby above the stairs landing.

Exterior

Enjoy BBQing in front of the quintessential “A” with our provided propane grill. Or sit on the back deck soaking in the views. Guests can also lounge under the deck and play a round of horse shoes or relax on the hammock. We provide a variety of outdoor games including giant Jenga, connect four and cornhole. We do provide beach towels, beach chairs and beach toys during the summer months.

Other things to note

We do not have central Heat or Air Conditioning. Most of the cabins in the area do not have central AC. During the summer months (July-September or when outdoor temps start averaging 80+ degrees) we do provide two portable AC units for the main floor bedroom and upstairs bedroom. These are not to be moved or disconnected if they are installed during your stay. The heat source in the cabin are automatic electric wall heaters which are located in every room and the pellet stove in the family room. Pellet stove is disconnected during summer months and only to be used during winter months. Refer to our Guide Book on how to operate these things.

We do not have an automatic ice maker, but we do provide ice trays for making your own ice. Please note our retro inspired SMEG fridge is not a full size fridge and has limited freezer space.

We do provide high speed WiFi, but service is not guaranteed. We do not have cable but guests are free to stream their own accounts on the smart TV. We only have one TV in the cabin, in the living room. We also provide a DVD player and an assortment of family friendly movies.

Our cabin has multiple sets of stairs, is not child proofed and may not be suitable for small children. We can provide baby gates upon request.

This is a smoke free property. No open flames, fire pits, candles, fireworks or other BBQs are allowed on our property. Per LACC rules and health concerns, we do not allow any pets.

LACC requires all guests to register their vehicles and read/sign the renter handbook. LACC also charges an additional $125 for boat ramp use (“boat fee”/boat sticker required).

Please note dangerous wildlife is common in the area including (but not limited to) bears, mountain lions, foxes, coyotes and raccoons. Please do not leave any kind of trash outside. Bats are also common sighting at night and fly in close proximity to the cabin and garage. Although we make all efforts possible through on going pest control efforts, we may have the occasional spider, insect or even a mouse in the cabin. This does not reflect on the cleanliness of the cabin and is just a normal occurrence for being in the woods.

We have a Ring camera on the front of the cabin facing the front courtyard and driveway area. This camera captures live video and audio but is not continuously monitored during your stay. This camera helps alert us to our guests arrival and departure and the safety of our property. There is also a game camera on a tree below the horseshoe pit facing the back of the cabin that captures still photos only.


Where you’ll be

Almanor A-Frame is located on the Lake Almanor peninsula within the Lake Almanor Country Club (LACC). The country club is a gated and guarded community. Guests have full access to all the country club amenities including boat ramps, numerous recreational areas, beach access, playgrounds, sports complex, golfing and live seasonal entertainment. The recreational areas also have tables and charcoal BBQs. LACC requires all guests to register their vehicles and read/sign the renter handbook. LACC also charges an additional $125 for boat ramp use (“boat fee”/boat sticker required).

The cabin is minutes from restaurants and activities on the peninsula and a quick drive to downtown Chester. Lake Almanor is a four-season recreational community and offers tons of actives including fishing, boating, water sports, hiking, trails, horseback riding as well as winter sports like snowshoeing, snowmobiling and skiing. The entrance to Lassen Volcanic National Park is 40 miles away (50 minute car ride).

Rules:

We offer full refunds for the following conditions: road closures within a 30-mile radius of the cabin that prohibit travel in the area, hazardous air quality, active forest fires within a 30-mile radius of the cabin, or any other natural disasters/weather conditions that pose a health and safety risk to guests.

We kindly ask you to read our house rules carefully. Should a guest break any of the rules, the host will immediately ask guest to leave the property and impose a $500 fine.
- Absolutely no smoking of any kind (including vaping) is allowed anywhere on the property.
- No parties and no unregistered guests are allowed.
- No pets allowed on property. Due to health reasons and LACC rules, we do not allow any kind of animals or pets on the property.
- Quiet time is from 10:00pm-7:00am.
- No professional filming, film crews, photography, or recording content without prior contractual agreement with the host.
- No open flames, fireworks, candles, fire pits or other BBQs allowed on premises.

Guests agree to immediately notify host of any problems that occur during their stay. We will do our best to accommodate reasonable requests within 24 hour of initial notice. Guests agree to allow trades people access to the property (with prior notification of arrival time) so that the problem can be corrected.
