The Neighborhood:
Dining & Drinks within the neighborhood :
Within a short walk you will find 4 restaurants/bars, Zia Marie (Excellent Italian food), Green Parrot (neat Dive bar with a tropical vibe, food is good!), HK on the bay (Excellent American food, frequent live music, busy night spot), Buoy 44 (located right on the water, great for sunsets, reasonably priced, but not my favorite place to eat, however).
A great short walk in the morning to find a newspaper or Coffee is Jr. Market. Turn right out of the driveway, make your first left onto Seaview Ave, Walk down Seaview Ave and you'll see Jr. Market within 1 minute, maybe 2. Jr. Market is the only place within walking distance to find items similar to what a 7-11 would have, and while you're at there, be sure to pick the perfect $1 souvenir to remember your stay--a sticker with the quote "Chicks Beach - No Bad Days".
Something I've found kids love to see is a house built to look like a boat, or a boat turned into a house (i'm not quite sure which!). To check it out walk ...turn right out of the driveway, turn left at Fentress (bouy 44 is on the same corner), then take your first right...the house/boat is on the right side...(5-10 minute walk)
You may hear the sounding of a bugle early in the morning (Reveille), usually lasting about 5 minutes. I lived in the house for 20 years and still to this day I don't know exactly where the bugle call comes from! If you happen to find out, please do let me know. There are no military bases close enough for a bugle to be heard, but the are many retired Military, Navy Seals Etc. in the neighborhood.
If you happen to be looking outside toward the water early on a Tuesday morning, you'll see maybe a hundred swimmers making a long swim along the beach...these are the United States Navy Seals training, from one of their local bases.
Another interesting neighborhood note: The pirate black beard frequented Chicks beach long ago, here is a link for more info;

There is no public transportation serving this neighborhood. Taxi's are also very unreliable. For getting around I suggest Uber.

During winter months water is turned off to outside bathroom and shower to avoid bursting pipes, if you need the water on, just send us a message for instructions!
