This Ocean View Estate is perfectly located on one of the most coveted streets in Dana Point's Lantern District. The 1963 mid-century modern home is a stunning example of timeless simplicity. Open, airy, and bright you’ll find a colorful mix of old and new that is a surprise for the senses.
From the very moment you pass through the manicured front yard and up to the geometric glass paneled blue door it is obvious that everything at this property has been painstakingly handpicked to provide a truly one of a kind experience.
Upon entering, warm oak flooring runs throughout the main level of the home which boosts four bedrooms and two full bathrooms. Walk down the sunset mural hallway and find your adventurous side in the tiki style bedroom, complete with a queen bed and jungle wall. The second bedroom has wall to wall closet space and a king bed. The third bedroom has a queen bed set upon a built-in wood mid-century platform. The second living room is located a few steps down from the main floor and has polished concrete floors, large windows, a vaulted ceiling, and a hanging chair for relaxation. It features a pull out sofa bed on a 4 inch foam topper for max comfort. This room also has a sliding glass door which provides outdoor access. The two bathrooms have been tiled and grouted to precision, in throwback fashion. One bath has a shower and the other has a tub/shower combo.
The living room impresses with its large windows, modern glass fireplace with stone facade, and built-in shelving. The decor is 60’s chic with a bamboo bar cart, vintage record collection and player. Perfect for social nights around the fire listening to the warm sounds of vinyl while enjoying a cocktail seated in the leather egg chair.
This space extends seamlessly into the dining area set with an iconic white tulip table and sputnik chandelier. The adjacent kitchen is designed with ample countertop space, a farmhouse sink and rare, highly desirable, retro appliances that will transport you back in time.
Upstairs is the master suite living area with tall ceilings and a magnificent ocean view - photos don’t do it justice. The large accordion door fully opens to reveal the sun-soaked deck complete with fire pit, creating the perfect indoor-outdoor setup. The vintage credenza has even been outfitted with a wet bar and mini fridge for entertaining or relaxing. The adjacent master bedroom features a king bed, wall to wall closet, and one of the most stylish retro bathrooms you will ever see.
In homage to Dana Point’s famous surfing history, several vintage surfboards adorn the walls on both levels.
Additional amenities include abundant storage space, recently updated drainage and electrical panel, newly installed rain barrels and artificial turf. The rare extra-long driveway can fit multiple cars or an RV (with advanced notice), and the garage contains a Samsung washer and dryer for your convenience.
There are a range of year round activities to choose from located just minutes away: whale watching, fishing charters, visits to Catalina, jet-ski, ocean sports, and bike rentals. This home is minutes away from Dana Point's great restaurants, bars, music venues, surf shops, boutiques, parks, beaches and harbor.

Family reunion time
Family gathered for a wedding weekend and enjoyed staying at this house rather than a hotel. It was perfect place for everyone to relax between events and enjoy the local vibe too. House has so much charm and character. It is easily walkable from the house down to the business district of Dana Point to cafes and restaurants. We hope to use this property again for future family reunions.

Family Gathering
Home was the perfect spot for our vacation. House was comfortable for our family to spread out and relax. We made family dinners - loved the retro vibe in the kitchen. Upstairs living room and deck was our gathering place of choice for morning coffee and sunsets. Gas fire pit kept us warm. Multiple TVs and Sonos made it easy for everyone to enjoy their week. We walked to coffee shops, restaurants and the water - although it's a steep hill coming home. Check in and out was easy. Would highly recommend.

Best trip ever!
What a find! This spot was a total gem. Dana Point was our pick for our yearly girls' getaway and boy did it deliver! It was super easy to stroll to all the cool restaurants and shops in town, and hitting the beach wasn't too far either. We also did a hike in Crystal Cove and loved it.
The house was spotless! It felt like we walked right into a mid-century modern dream. And that ocean view? The photos just don't do it justice.
If you're looking for a special escape, Dana Point's where it's at and this place was the perfect home base. A fantastic choice for a memorable trip with the girls. Highly recommend it!

Spacious House, Excellent Location, and Functional Improvements Needed
First the positives:- house was spacious, very comfortable for 7 adults and two very young children.- clean, with alot of living space (2 family rooms, one with a spectacular view and beautiful outdoor patio).- superb check-in and help from property manager, Alex, as needed, especially settling in the first and second day.- very close to two beaches: Baby Beach and Salt Creek Beach, about 5 minute drive to each, both very clean beaches.- AC worked well for comfortable sleeping (once we figured out how to use it effectively)Improvements needed:- basic equipment lacking: no broom in the house, plumbing made showers difficult to manage (one had trouble with regulating cold water, one had difficulty with regulating hot water).- dining area had inadequate seating: four chairs and a smallish table for a house that can comfortably sleep 10; we had to bring in outside chairs, and ask for some folding chairs to be brought.- appliances were quirky, such as an Italian dishwasher that had no accompanying instructions and required a phone call to Alex to figure out how to make it work; same dishwasher is placed two steps away from sink, rather than right next to the sink; a Kurig coffee maker without instructions that we never figured out how to use; a main coffee maker with only 10 cup capacity (for 7 adults, which meant multiple pots of coffee had to be made for AM start).We worked around these inconveniences with much help from Alex, who is responsive and very helpful.

That said, I wanted to address a few of the concerns you raised, as some of the comments may give future guests the wrong impression about the property or our level of service.
Dining & Seating:
The indoor dining table and chairs are exactly as pictured and described in the listing. The home sleeps up to 10 guests, and while your reservation was for 6 adults and 2 children, we were happy to bring over extra chairs right away upon request. Many guests enjoy dining at the larger outdoor table to take advantage of the beautiful weather, but we’re always happy to accommodate different preferences when possible.
Appliances:
The SMEG dishwasher is a high-end European model with straightforward controls. We provide step-by-step instructions in both the digital guide (sent before your arrival) and the printed house manual available in the home. I was also glad to personally walk you through it when you reached out. The Keurig is a standard model widely used in many homes and hotels, and the Ninja coffee maker brews up to 10 cups at a time, which typically meets the needs of most groups. Of course, guests are always welcome to brew a second pot if needed or enjoy one of the great local coffee shops nearby.
Household Items & Requests:
As we discussed before your arrival, the house is not childproof, and we do not provide baby gear such as cribs or baby gates. However, we always try to accommodate reasonable requests and were happy to provide a broom when asked. Most guests find the home well-equipped, and we’re always quick to assist if anything additional is needed.
After Your Stay:
We were more than happy to carefully pack and ship the personal items your group left behind, and we’re always glad to go the extra mile to ensure guests are taken care of, both during and after their visit.
While we understand that every guest has different expectations, we work hard to provide a high-quality experience, as reflected in the many positive reviews we’ve received. We're sorry to hear this stay wasn't a perfect fit for your family, but we stand by the home, the service we provide, and the care we put into every guest's experience.
