Hi! We're Mike and Amy, and The Lakeman represents something really special to us - it's a story of family, connection, and second chances.
Amy and have called Cincinnati home for more than 3 decades and we are passionate about sharing Cincinnati with visitors and helping guests experience the vibrant culture, amazing restaurants, and unique neighborhoods that make this city so special.
But the heart of The Lakeman's story is about me (Mike) and my son Evan. Like many fathers and sons, we went through a really rough patch during Evan's early teen years - the kind where you wonder if you'll ever connect again. I hoped that building and renovating houses together could became our bridge back to each other. So I asked Evan if he'd help me renovate homes including this 1895 Northside home.
Taking this house down to the studs and rebuilding it together changed everything. Working side-by-side, problem-solving, learning new skills, seeing something beautiful emerge from hard work - it gave us a way to communicate when words didn't come easily. Every wall we opened up, every system we replaced, every detail we got right brought us closer together.
Evan is now "retired" from renovation work - he's graduated from university and started his career - but what we built together goes far beyond this house. The Lakeman represents the relationship we rebuilt, the lessons we learned, and the second chance we got to really know each other.
When you stay here, you're staying in a home that was literally built with love, patience, and the determination to bridge a gap that once felt impossible to cross. We preserved the historic character because we believe in honoring what came before while building something better for the future - that's true for both old houses and family relationships.

I hoped that building and renovating houses together could became our bridge back to each other. So I asked Evan if he'd help me renovate homes including this 1895 Northside home.
Taking this house down to the studs and rebuilding it together changed everything. Working side-by-side, problem-solving, learning new skills, seeing something beautiful emerge from hard work - it gave us a way to communicate when words didn't come easily. Evan is now "retired" from renovation work - he's graduated from university and started his career - but what we built together goes far beyond this house. The Lakeman represents the relationship we rebuilt, the lessons we learned, and the second chance we got to really know each other.
