great space for a family vacation

We rented both suites and really enjoyed our stay. The Sun Suite was our base with the lovely veranda overlooking the beach. The property was so fun with the pool and beach access. And we appreciated the shady coverings as it was very sunny. Alberto and Damian took great care of us and Cristina was a jewel to work with on arrangements. We highly recommend this place!

A Mixed Experience

We stayed here from March 16-23, 2019 and had a mixed experience. THE PROS - access to a perfect beach, and I genuinely do mean perfect, with gorgeous turquoise water and a fantastic outdoor space including a pool, lots of places to lounge outside, plus two kayaks and a paddle board to use freely. We always felt safe in our rental and had a great time in nearby Puerto Morales for lunch and dinner. THE CONS - upon arrival the penthouse had many fruit flies (30-40) probably because both sets of patio doors don’t fully close, leaving slightly less than a centimeter gap (a tiny lizard even got through when the doors were closed), the bathrooms had an unpleasant odor all week, the beds weren’t very comfy and the two common-area AC units were not functioning. A cleaning service is supposed to come 3 times a week; they only came once which was plenty for us, yet the kitchen was a little grimy even after being cleaned. One of our main reasons for renting here versus a resort was for privacy. There weren’t any other renters the week we were visiting, so the only people there were the property manager, and one day, ten of his friends. Overall, we really enjoyed the beach, the ocean and the nearby town but we probably wouldn’t stay in this particular rental again. That said, we like to be home-bodies, or rather, beach-bodies on vacation so having a really nice place could be more important to us than it might be if you’ll be spending more time out and about.

Hello Marco I apologize for the delay of my answer for some reason this review had escaped my attention difficult to comment on the problems you have reported because you really mention the gnats and the sliding windows There are some times of the year unfortunately where there is an absence of wind and in that case it does not matter to be close to the ocean or not because the breeze is totally missing our Caribbean-style house with natural wood typical of the place can have only and exclusively in the two French doors of the terrace of the small slits from where maybe the midges entered But I assure you that this is a very rare thing that probably happens once a year in particular situations and that is probably why you have smelled the smell of the bathroom Because in the absence of air and in that particular period you may have smelled the sulfur smell typical of these areas of the Caribbean in terms of mattresses I assure you that they have been promptly replaced replaced and the air conditioning works as well as the fans have been changed it is a matter of maintenance and when it happens that an air conditioner stops working we replace it the same day so far we have never had these problems and we are always present to solve any type of problem may occurr in real time in the property. Beautiful, secluded

This house is amazing! It is right on the beach and the view is spectacular! Every morning you wake up to the turquoise blue waters of the ocean. We had a group of 6 adults and we had a great time! The space is definitely large enough although the room layout is a little difficult for 3 couples. There are 3 bedrooms and a loft. Two of the three bedrooms have queen size beds and the other bedroom has two twin beds. If we had kids this might be great, but one of the couples had to keep all of their clothes and personal items in the twin bedroom and sleep upstairs in the loft (which has a queen bed). The loft is a cool space, but there is no privacy up there, so if they wanted to change or anything, everyone would be able to see them from the common area. Pros: Private beach area. No huge resort feel. Very relaxing. Big kitchen, we had all of our meals together. Amazing view, the pictures do not do justice. Plenty of bathrooms (there are three, all with showers). Plenty of space. The layout and architecture is beautiful. Secluded. Not a lot of people around. Cons: Secluded. Don't for get anything while you are out shopping. The nearest town is 20 min drive away. Hot water. There isn't really enough to go around (try to take showers an hour or two apart from each other). Noise. The floors are very thin. We didn't have a problem hearing the people below us, but they had a BIG problem hearing us. Simple things like talking and walking make a lot of noise for the neighbors below. Kitchen utensils are not very good. All in all Casa Chanty is amazing! You will need a rental car for the week, but that also allows you to go to places tourists can't. If you stay at Casa Chanty you will not forget its beauty for a long time. Thank you Casa Chanty for a wonderful vacation!

Dear Brennan sorry for the delay in my response, I am happy that our guests put their reviews, online, for me everything is constructive and I accept all the tips that are helpful to improve for the future, because what I want is that our guests to enjoy their holidays and return home with good memories but mostly satisfied. However, let me clarify a couple of points that may confuse readers of this review. I just wanted to ensure that the bedrooms are all the 3 "king sized matress" (not queen as you mentioned), there is hot water and that between a shower and the other does not have to wait more than 5 minutes or less, maybe you had to wait a little longer if you have made ??use of jacuzzy which obviously contains a lot of water and in this case, the boiler needs more time to charge. Apart from that, I'm glad you enjoyed the house and the placde that is absolutely beautiful, we also built in the mean time another palapa on the beach! Thank you for the advice to add over the chest of drawers that there was a new closet in the loft (which we just installed). At the end of each season we replace many things in the apartment and many cooking utensils plates cups and cutlery were all changed, that we always do. I just got here, and many works have been performed, including a new ceramic floor , applied over the beautiful wood floors. Casa Chanty...pretty close to perfect!

When you wake up in the morning and walk into the living room you feel like you are sitting on top of the ocean...it's amazing! The view will take your breathe away...it's simply spectacular! At the end of the day you get to fall asleep listening to the waves of the ocean...yes you are that close! We had the upper unit, "the penthouse". Our group was two couples and my 2 grown children. The house was very spacious. Three bathrooms was great for our group of six. Our only complaint about the bathrooms would be the hot water. We complained to Alberto and were told that we needed to let the water run and that it would eventually get hot...this is true...but it takes anywhere between 5-10 minutes for it to get warm/hot. Never once were we able to turn on the water and have it be hot. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and pots and pans. When we arrived we had two refrigerators...which was great because we used one for drinks only. Two days later...the one for drinks was removed because it was leaking into the downstairs unit. Since we were staying there and cooking our meals the second fridge was needed. Once they took it they never brought it back. The blender leaks a black liquid out the bottom every time you use it. The bottled water cooler that they provide was awesome! The beach is beautiful and very private! White sands and not a lot of rocks. We were able to walk into the ocean bare footed...water shoes weren't needed. You'd see maybe 10 people a day walk by. The week of our stay there the was a large amount of seaweed on the shore that you had to walk thru to get to the beach. After we were there for a couple of days...Alberto had his crew come and bury a large amount of it so that you could walk to the water without walking over the seaweed. Alberto did say that normally there is not a problem with seaweed. Even with the seaweed there...the beach was still amazing! Alberto lives in a small house behind the property. He was very helpful! We did not rent a car. So he called cabs for us as well as ordered our pizza on our first night. Very nice man! Overall our stay was awesome! The few minor items of concern did not ruin our vacation...just wanted to give an honest feedback of our experience. The photos they have listed are exactly what the house looks like! So if you are looking for a secluded beach front house...Casa Chanty is for you! Cheers, Amy S.

dearest Amy Thanks for your lovely and honest reviews, we appreciate anything you can tell us after your return in order to always improve what we offer to our customers. I'm sorry for the times it takes the water to reach the water heater is located outside the laundry room on the ground floor of the house and it is for this reason that the path has to make that takes 5 minutes to get hot water. The fridge white you were talking about was a fridge was put provisionally in the penthouse waiting for the new bigger refrigerator (who arrived during the week when you were there) that would replace just the two smaller fridges and I had requested that both small refrigerators was replaced with the new one, probably my husband "Alberto" could not explain well, excuse us. I am very happy that for the rest of you feel great, for me playa del secteto is truly a special place where people feel free and peaceful, is so quiet and safe and I'm glad you and your family have shared this experience, thank you so much for your very kind words and sensations that you have sent, and your helpful advice. Perfect for Us

Absolutely, wonderful. Breath taking view of the ocean. There are no words to accurately describe how awesome it is. Cleaning staff was nice and kept the home in the best condition. We had Chef Beto for the welcome dinner and 3 other days for lunch and dinner. The welcome dinner was delicious and a wide variety of food. Chef Beto was more than we could have ever asked for. He was professional, warm and personable. He educated us on the questions we asked about Mexico. The food he prepared was excellent and way over exceeded our expectations. We will all ways have Chef Beto prepare our food when we return and there were 8 of us. His English is very good. Again, I can not say enough about about the beauty and our experience. Private Beach

We stayed at Casa Chanty for 14 days and loved the privacy of having our beach, pool and enough room for my family of 10 and a month old to all have plenty of room.

Awesome!!! Perfect Beach

This place is truely a hidden gem. We loved the beach. The views are spectacular from every point. You can watch the sun rise while sitting on the couch. I would highly recommend this place.We had 10 in our group and didn’t feel crowded. We loved that it is secluded from all the craziness of resort crowds and noise. Perfect beach!! Perfect location!! Perfect house. It is what you see in online photos. Albuerto and Damian are more than gracious to help in any way they can. We will definitely be back:)

Great Location, Fabulous View

There are many reasons to appreciate this property. We were a group of 7 adults - family and friends - who wanted to relax, enjoy one another's company in a location removed from the more usual activities and crowds of this part of the world. We walked the beach, swam in the surf, tried the kayaks and soaked up the sun. We cooked, read our books, played lots of scrabble and card games and took the occasional trip for groceries or a restaurant meal. The penthouse and loft accommodated us well. The design of the apartment allows for exceptional sea and sand views and the feel of the place is comfortable and unpretentious. Damien dealt quickly with any minor problems and looked after the housekeeping and Alberto's three dogs kept us entertained. A great two week break from a Canadian winter. Highly recommend.

Great stay at Casa Chanty

Casa Chanty was the perfect place to spend a family vacation. The beach is beautiful and the house had everything we needed. Alberto was always there when we needed him and he was extremely helpful with everything. We would definitely stay here again!

Dear mark good morning and thank you for the review that I always find very helpful to make us improve. I answer in general to the points you mentioned. First of all we talk about mosquitoes or small gnats, in March in Mexico we often wind from the North, or rather we have cooler air that comes from the forest from (behind) and not from the sea front, this sometimes allows small insects to be able to fly in front beach where instead they usually do not succeed, besides for the same reason probably the smell that came from the baths, even if I must tell you the truth in 14 years that we rent Casa Chanty this is the first review that mentions smell in the baths, this means that it is really unusual, and as I think certainly due to an atmospheric event that is unfortunately not controllable by us. regarding the not comfortable beds, I would like to know which beds or mattress you are referring to because the 3 bedrooms have new mattresses from June 2019, only in the loft, there were mattresses that we consider to replace in summer 2020 because they are still in excellent condition, in the loft we have model standart mattresses hotel. Every year we do a replacement of everything that is necessary because I first want to find everything perfect in the house I rent, and I have a personal experience of what a badly kept house is, etc. because it happened to me, and I guarantee you that Casa Chanty is an excellent, well-maintained property. with regards to cleaning, it often happens that the customers don't want them because they prefer to run the house, or it often happens that they prefer to sleep late and do not want to be disturbed, as a rule we always do the cleaning as expected. and in any case we also do them in addition if the guests needs it. even if we have to replace sheets or towels in advance, we have never denied anything and we have always tried to satisfy our guests. thanks again I am happy that anyway you liked the location with the beach and I wish to you and family best things. kind regards Cristina

So much to do in the area, the house is in a great location. We hope to come back next year. The staff is very friendly and work hard to keep place in great condition!

Awesome family vacation!!!

THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! We recently got back from Casa Chanty we spent a wonderful week with my children at this beautiful house!! the pictures in your web site are exactly how the house is! We enjoyed the Beautiful beach with the kayak and love dipping in the swimming pool. We enjoyed nightly card games at the table outside and loved having Wally the dog around to play with!! A big thank you to Alberto who helped us when we needed to order out!! What a great guy!! If your thinking about visiting Casa Chanty, I say YES!! We will definetly be back!!!

Wonderful house, beautiful beach

It really lives up to the description and photos. The ocean water is clear and this property has some of the best beach front in the area. The house is lovely and has great views. We were two families who split the penthouse and it was plenty of room for all seven of us.

Breathtaking!

We just returned from an amazing week at Casa Chanty. The home is just as it shows with the living area having a stunning wrap around view of the ocean. The sand is incredibly soft and white and the ocean is crystal clear and warm. I have to say that the beach is one of the best we have seen. We did rent a car, which I highly suggest, because it is a little ways away from shopping, restaurants, etc. Puerto Morelos is about a 10 minute drive and has everything you need including grocery stores, restaurants on the beach, souvenier shops, fishing and snorkeling. The home is situated between Cancun and Playa del Carmen so it was easy getting around to all of the areas. We enjoyed Tulum and cenotes which were only about an hour away but there are closer ones as well. The home has everything you need including coffee pot, blender, pots and pans, dishes. It is important to keep food off the counters to prevent ants but that is to be expected anywhere. There were 7 of us and there was plenty of room in this 3 bed/3ba plus loft home. We were very comfortable in the beds and enjoyed the individual a/c in each room. The bathrooms were great and there was plenty of hot water. Yes, you do need to wait a few minutes to get the water hot as per other reviews, but, who cares! We are looking forward to returning some day and renting the entire home instead of only the top Penthouse. The boys used the kayaks to go further out into the ocean and the girls enjoyed the outdoor beds and pool area for relaxing. Alberto lives in the back house and was there whenever we needed him for fresh towels, toilet paper, taxis, or whatever. My girls fell in love with Perla, his dog, and wanted to take her home with us. Be sure to book this home...you will be so happy you did!

The most amazing beach holiday we have been on!

We are not long back from mexico where we stayed at casa chanty "Playa Del Secreto" and absolutely loved every minute of it.The location of the villa was exactly what we were looking for,direct on the beach and peaceful!Its exactly how you would imagine it and the view from the penthouse 360 degree window was breath taking.Watching the sunrise from the balcony every morning was a luxury.My two young sons were with us and they loved living right on the beach and having a little pool to play in aswell!We hired a car which is pretty necessary there and it was only 5min drive into Puerto Morelos where we could get food shopping etc but was an amazing little ccarribean fishing village.There,s plenty to do as you are in between cancun and playa del carmen.We would definately go back....Leianne from scotland

Perfection!

We stayed at this wonderland for 8 nights with a group of 8. The house was perfect. The kitchen was well stocked, with the usual minor problems of bad knives and such but that is to be expected and encountered in every vacation rental I've ever stayed at. The view was spectacular, the place was very roomy. Having three bathrooms was a godsend! It was nice to have such a private beach with no vendors hasseling us and just a few other vacationers walking the beach. Every day the view and the ocean just took my breath away with how gorgeous it was. Because there is SO much to do in the area, we didn't spend a ton of time at the house, but the time we did spend was blissful. We really enjoyed the ocean, the small swimming pool, the outside shower, the hammock and all of the places to lounge. We felt very safe there and appreciated having the guards and the gate so that not just anyone could drive to the house. The house looked amazing at night lit up when we looked up from the beach. When we walked the beach looking at all of the other houses we by far preferred Casa Chanty. It is unique and tropical looking and just perfection really. We rented cars which made it easy to get around and take day trips to Tulum, Coba, Xplor, Chitzen Itza, Isla Mujeres, and Cozumel. We ate dinner in Puerto Morales a few times and I totally recommend La Tarraza. It was a short five minute drive away. I definitely plan to be back, hopefully for a longer trip so I can spend more time at this amazing house. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful home with us.

Absolutely Amazing

I cannot believe what a slice of paradise this property is. The house is exactly what I was expecting and the views and courtyard were better than expected. The property is very well maintained and I saw someone there each day making sure everything was in order. I spent most of my time at the house in the courtyard (vs the beach itself) and I SO appreciated the care of the pool and the beach chairs, etc. The house itself is so great. We had 8 people with us and not too many more towels than we had people so that was a bit of a challenge, but nothing hindering. The breeze swept through the main living areas and the back three bedrooms each had an A/C unit in it which was a wonderful relief from the daily heat and humidity. The kitchen was also very well stocked (although the bottom of the blender oozed strange black liquid and the coffee pot was cracked so leaked as well. There are ants in the tropics but they weren't too bad here and we tried to keep things very tidy so as to avoid major infestation. Lots of pots and pans... knives weren't that sharp, but they were useable. LOTS of space for dried food and two refrigerators also made a huge difference for 8 people. Having the filtered tap water and the bottled drinking water was unexpected and absolutely wonderful! I have only 2 criticisms, both of which don't hinder my giving this property a no-hesitation 5 star review. 1. It is advertised that we would have maid service 3x per week. We we there 8 nights and had someone come only one time. I wouldn't have expected someone to make our beds each time, but having the trash taken out, the bottled water replaced and the floors swept would have made a huge difference. 2. Check out time is listed as 11:00 am. We asked the manager on site if we could stay a little later and he said "no problem" but then told us at 10:20 am that we had to leave by 10:30am. Which we did not... we were not expecting to leave until 11 or 11:30 so we were not prepared for that change in what we had been told. Overall, I loved this place. I LOVE the privacy and isolation of the beach and home. Dealing with the owner was always pleasant, informative and her replies were timely and helpful. While we didn't make use of the toys, I LOVE that there is a boogie board, floaties and two little kayaks you could use. If I ever make it to this part of Mexico again, I would definitely consider staying here again. :-)

Dear Lindsay many thanks for the wonderful review, I am very happy that you enjoyed the house and the place, I'm just disappointed because what happened to you with the cleaning service has never happened before and I was told by the manager of the place of why was not done cleaning the house as determined 3 times, because this is the rule to observe that the guy knows very well to cleaning perrchè know that I care much for cleaning, are the first to apologize for this lack , avviserò today and ask why. Amazing and relaxing vacation! Perfect beach!

We had an amazing vacation at Casa Chanty. The house was exactly what we had been looking for. It was private and away from all the other resorts and hustle and bustle of the city. We had 9 in our group in the penthouse and had friends staying the in the lower 2 bedroom unit, so 13 of us total. Our ages ranged from 4 years old to 77 years old. So, quite a group!! By far the best feature of the house is the direct access to the beach. The beach was perfect with soft sand and gradual declining depth in the water. Most days we had wonderful surf to play in and boogie board. There was just a day or so at the end of our week where we were able to kayak on calmer waters. But we loved the waves and spent all day jumping around in them. The water temperature this time of the year was perfect as well, warm and cooling at the same time under the hot sun. The penthouse has a wonderful layout. The kids loved having the loft to themselves while the adults were in the bedrooms downstairs. Its openness was ideal for hanging out and gathering for meals. The balcony facing the ocean was a meeting spot to relax and enjoy a coffee in the morning, or a cocktail after dinner. That breeze off of the water is heaven!! The property is very well maintained and they seem to be working very hard to keep it that way. It was so comfortable, you felt at home right away. Alberto was so wonderful while we were there! He has an apartment on site that he stays in and was available anytime we needed him. He helped us stock the house with food before we arrived as well as mid way thru our trip. He also helped us coordinate an outing (swimming with the dolphins), arrange taxi services, order pizzas and was there to restock anything we needed right away. THANK YOU so much, Alberto!! It was so nice to spend a little time with you and share your piece of heaven on the beach. :) We went into town two times, once as a whole group of 13 and once as a group of 7. The price of a taxi round trip into Playa del Carmen for the big group was $160 USD. For the smaller group it was $110 USD round trip. It does sound like a lot, but we did not want to rent a car, and with that many people...it would have to have been a BIG one! We just budgeted that cost into our trip. Much easier. I would absolutely recommend this house to my friends. Our kids are already asking when we can go back. If you are looking for a private space and want that direct beach access, this is a perfect option!

Casa Chanty was Wonderful!

Choosing this home to stay at while on our vacation was THE best choice! The photos represent the home perfectly, unobstructed views from inside and out of the gorgeous ocean front. I was wondering if wind would be an issue on the beach, but it was actually a fantastic blessing, just perfect! Damian, the onsite caretaker was there for our every need. The location of Playa del Secreto was perfect, as well. close enough to Puerto Morelos, and Playa del Carmen, depending upon the public experience you want, but the home is a private sanctuary that we were happy to stay there all day, walk on the beach, read, and play in the water.Also had the welcome dinner recommended on our first evening, very good! Very comfortable for our party of 5. Highly recommend, and hope to be back soon!

Possibly better than as described

This is a safe bet. The accommodations are spacious. Good for families or couples (although I note the thin walls...). The site-manager is available and friendly. There IS hot water; however, it takes awhile to arrive, and a few of the faucets are reversed (cold is actually hot). The beach is beautiful--gorgeous even. White sand and clear water. This is why we come to places like this. My family and I had a fantastic holiday in this home. If you are a bit adventurous (willing to go to supermarkets), appreciate quiet (there are no bars, no "resort activities"), and actually enjoy spending time with each other (we played a lot of cards in the evenings), this is the rental for you.
