The house and the location were lovely and fit our needs very well. Being able to walk to the beach was great as were the many beaches close by. Restaurants and a local market were also within 5-10 minutes and were very reasonable. The backyard was very nice and being right next to the preserve was beautiful.

Very welcoming concierge who helped us in a couple of ways (dining recommendations, locating the unit in the dark, and when we had to mail back one of the keys we accidental took home with us). Good space in the house - more than enough for the 4 of us. We got to see a great show by the iguana one morning from the back deck - so cool. Walking to the nature preserve was so convenient.

Yes everything was as stated. The yard truly backs up to the nature reserve. Just a lovely back yard which add so much to our stay. And the pool as well as the ocean is quite rough and not swimable at this point.

After the tropical storm season, the blue green waters of the Caribbean calm down with swimming and Kayaking, footsteps away, a memorable experience. Our pool overlooking the Nature Reserve is always calm, clean and relaxing! Our photos say it all!

fantastic location and helpful owner

This home is in a fantastic location. If you are looking for peace and quiet, close to nature and access to the beach this is the place. The owner and property manager were easy to reach and very responsive. Check in was easy. If you stay here make sure to go to Marejadas (right outside the entrance) for breakfast or brunch and Daniel's for dinner.

We had a wonderful stay. Luckily Julius was there to give us advice if places to visit and great restaurants. The house was very nice and the yard beautiful and relaxing. We enjoyed watching the wild life and a beautiful peaceful beach.

Clean, quiet, private. Sylvia was very easy to deal with. The location is fabulous. A short walk to a quiet pristine beach. Numerous local restaurants with awesome Puerto Rican cuisine within a short drive. Would love to stay again.

Excellent accommodations

The property was very well taken care of and so much to do and see within walking distance. Take the paddle over to monkey island and make sure you walk to the nature preserve from the house. Only complaint would be the comfort of the beds, should consider upgrading mattresses.

Def for nature lovers. I liked the back yard more than the rest of the place.

The owner was super nice and ready to accommodate - didn’t have a hair dryer - so bring your own if that’s important. It’s kind of reminiscent of indoor camping. We didn’t use the kayaks we drove to the rainforest instead. I’d say if you want an authentic trip and feel for the southeast side of PR it’s a good first stop. There’s a Walmart close by and a few local little bars.

Indoor camping? Perhaps in a $300,000 motor home in one of our Nation's great NATURAL TREASURES! A newly painted and fully air conditioned home, a fully equipped kitchen, two full bathrooms, game and family room, your own personal concierge, and a well-maintained landscape abutting a 3500 acre NATURE SANCTUARY. This was no small accomplishment to bring back this property to its current condition after the damage sustained when Hurricane Maria blew her way right past our doorstep. Our photos speak for themselves and are a true representation of the indoor as well as the outdoor environment-- We welcome everyone to come and see for yourselves.

Great family vacation

We really enjoyed staying at this property. The house had all we needed! It was a bit different than our impression from the listing as it was in a subdivision with houses right next to it on both sides. Not that this was so bad but for some reason I had thought it was gonna be a bit more secluded. My children really enjoyed the pool and my wife and I enjoyed drinking coffee in the mornings under the gazebo in the backyard and walking down to the beach and watching the sunrise over the bay. The house keeper was very easy to message and responded quickly for the things we needed.

Our Nature Lovers Paradise has homes on lots adjacent to our rental, however one is my winter getaway used infrequently. As the owner of the two largest properties, over an acre, in this small gated & safe community with a 3500 acre Sanctuary as your back yard, offering privacy and security like this, is hard to find.

Nature lover’s paradise

Perfect place for families! Very private and peaceful gated neighborhood. We didn’t see more than 6 people in a week! The back yard is amazing and directly boarders the Humacao nature preserve. The pool was absolutely wonderful, especially since there were riptide warnings for the entire week. We walked the beach every morning and watched the sunrises and pelicans diving for fish and relaxed in hammocks under the palm trees in the afternoon. Hiked the trails in the nature preserve and fished in the lagoons. This is truly the place for nature lovers! I would highly recommend this property.

Nice location near the beach

The property manage sent driving directions early, but not the directions/code to get into the property. Those were sent the day of travel, but we traveled from 2AM until 10P, so we didn’t get them. The owner was very responsive when I called. He connected me with the manager & eventually she let us in, explained the property & addressed our questions. The next day some of our group left. 2 hours later the property’s electricity was turned off. (Our member at the house was making dinner.) After a quick text, it was turned back on. The home is a block from a very lovely beach and a nice hiking area. There are restaurants within walking distance. It is convenient to shopping/groceries & the freeway.

Cute vacation home

The vacation home met our expectations. There was plenty of space for two adults, one 18-year-old, and two children to comfortably sleep and hang out. The air conditioning was powerful enough to combat the Puerto Rican heat and we were very comfortable. The property was inviting and the pool, once it was topped off to combat evaporation and we bought a skimmer to remove the mosquitoes each morning, was a good size and very enjoyable. The outdoor sitting area overlooking the edge of the nature preserve was lovely, and a great place to observe the large iguana who came out to feed on the mangoes and breadfruit that fell from the trees in the yard. 10am seemed to be iguana breakfast time. For our own meals, there was a delicious restaurant, Las Olas, right outside the main gate that we loved.

Older Concrete Home

You are staying at a concrete home as most of the homes are in Puerto Rico. It is in a gated community about 100yds from Punta Santiago beach. Beautiful subdivision. This house backs up to a nature reserve(As we call it in South MS, a swamp). It has water in it that is extremely muddy.(We did stay in July, so I don't know what the water looks like at other times of the year). We had only 5 people in the house but It can easily sleep 10 people. The home needs a little TLC but was perfect for us. Walmart is about 4 or 5 miles away. From this location you can easily travel to the mountains or other local beaches. The host was very attentive to what ever we needed.. Now the most important question is, Would I stay there again? Yes would love to stay there again and probably will try in the future

Overall, we had a good stay. I feel like the property description is a bit inaccurate. The pool is shared with the property owner next door and can only be used between sunrise and sunset. The laundry facilities are actually at the owners home, which is next-door, and can only be used between sunrise and sunset. That is a bit difficult when a family of six is on vacation and has activities during the daytime hours. I was very disappointed about not having access to laundry facilities when I needed them. The property is older, but was clean with good AC, Wi-Fi, and plenty of warm water. We were very grateful for that. The host was helpful and attentive to our needs.

The pool is not shared by anybody! The pool and property is the largest, and most private in the community, bordering the wilderness of a 3500 acre Nature Sanctuary. The property around the pool was recognized as a “WILDLIFE HAITATE”. The comfortably sized pool and deck straddles two properties I own, one for my use on a winter get a way and one for the rental. My access to the pool is gated, and never used when a guest is present. Sunrise/Sunset, at this time of the year is 5am-9pm, reasonable time of use of the laundry with flexible hours noted on the door when I’m not present in my home.

Our stay was wonderful, it was just myself and my 16 year old son. My son as many teenagers was less into activities and more into hanging out at the house relaxing. The home itself is quite spacious, we wanted a pool and the nature trails and therefore went bigger than needed, this home could easily fit a much larger family. The house was clean, quite comfortable, had everything we needed, the check in process was very easy. I stayed in touch with Sylvia here and there with questions and she was amazing, always sure to respond promptly. The pool was very refreshing on those hot days after wandering around the trails behind the property. The nearby reserve is literally your backyard. I spent a great deal of time hanging out with the lizards and taking photos of all the beauty around me. This is the first vacation in a long time that I felt truly relaxed and this was in big part this beautiful home. Thank you so much for having us!

Nature lovers paradise!

We had a wonderful time. The house was perfect for us. The air conditioning was awesome after long days in the sun. We would sit at the table each night playing cards or monopoly before going to bed. Plenty of out door seating. Having the grill was very nice for dinners. The pool was fun and relaxing. Being from Indiana when we saw lizards or iguanas in the yard we would all run for our cameras every time. I spent every morning sitting on the patio drinking coffee watching the birds and turtles in the lagoon. There is a number of restaurants in the area all with great food. The beech was fun for walks and trying to catch the little crabs that scurry around the rocks. We spent a lot of time in Fajardo, which is just a short drive. This is where we walked the rainforest and swam in the clear and very warm river. There are also great beaches for snorkeling and boogie boarding. We will definitely be back. Thanks Julius!

Not quite as described

The pool is not on the property...and when you get to the rental, there are two different postings about it. One says enjoy the pool dawn to dusk and another Bolder print says pool from 10am to 7pm. I used the pool very little and it was one of the main accommodations I wanted. I enjoy early mornings and night swimming. I am glad that I didnt bring the 3 teenagers I had intended, as i wanted them to be able to play and the area has all older people who probably wouldn't appreciate yelping teens. You have to haul a kayak a quite a ways through the trees to use it..the area right behind the house actually had what looked like human feces floating in it. The grill had no propane..and if there's an outdoor shower..There's no direction to find it, the door to the carport from the inside appears to be sealed. The house is tidy. Mid 80s style, I found a plastic chair to put in the living room, as the furniture is fabric..with wet suit on. It was conveniently located. I'd recommend for over 50, who aren't really pool people. The beach is stunning..but strong current..also not good for the youth..or frail. The app isn't allowing for photos to be uploaded.

Caution reading this review. After 20 years of rental experience, I have never seen so many direct and implied mistruths. It is hard to believe we are writing about the same accurately listed property. The reservation was for 7 adults with only one showing up, a lone female guest that made me aware of the abandonment of the guests in her party and a concern about her safety. I reassured her that the area was very safe. I notified my neighbors and staff to look out for her, keep their distance and help if need should arise. I take great care in having my staff immediately answer any questions or concerns a guest may have. ALL A GUEST NEEDS TO DO IS ASK. “ The old people”, not most of my neighbors, embrace my youthful guests, hiking and jogging on the beach and Sanctuary trails. As accurately listed in the photos, the pool is on the rental property. Signs related to pool use are required by law and insurance regulations. The protected and patrolled wetlands directly behind the rental, inaccessible to others from the reserve, has no human waste present. This rental is a nature lover’s escape with uncontrolled fluctuations in the Caribbean and protected wetlands.

Great for Extended family

This house was great for our extended family of 8 adults and 3 children, ages three and under. It was just as pictured, older but exceptionally clean, and the beach REALLY is a short walk. If you want the feel of a resort, driving a golf cart to the beach, sharing a pool with strangers after you've carried all your gear down an elevator, this is NOT the place for you. But if you want a feel of the island, kayaks and beach gear at your disposal in the garage ( and not rented be the 1/2 hour), and a crystal clear pool just steps from the back door and surrounded by a nature preserve ( beware of ant bites) then this IS for you. We had only 2 problems : 1) openers/keys -we had 3 rental cars and needed a second gate opener which Nancy, the terrific concierge, quickly resolved, and we made 2 more sets of keys and 2) internet service via an extender did not work. Nancy came by and checked it, but it was a more technical problem than just resetting. Enjoy your stay!

A true and accurate review that sets us apart from the condo resort style vacation. As said in a previous review on vacationrentals.com “A Tropical Escape...The Name Says It All” swilan (Morristown, TN). The vacationer’s comments are a testimony to the quality of rental we offer and the attentive service we provide. The technical problem, due to region wide power interruptions, has been repaired. Internet up and running!

Disappointed

My family and I enjoyed PR, but were overall disappointed w the property. Beds were very uncomfortable, not enough bed linens- I actually had to go purchase extra blankets and then leave them behind because of suitcase room! We were expected to wash all the dishes, but not given adequate dish soap or papertowels. Also had to purchase more toilet paper and paper towels- things that should have been supplied. Working outlets were hard to find, the yard had dog poo and a broken fence that ultimately fell down during our stay. We made the best of our stay, and appreciated the kayak availability- but more negatives than positives for the money I spent.

The renters have three responsive caretakers maintaining the rental as well as my own home on the adjacent property to provide for needed supplies, cleaning, and landscaping. My customer service representative is six homes away with access to a full stock of supplies that satisfy most renters’ needs. Contact information, including my email and text number, is given to the renter prior to their arrival. All one must do is ask and the caretakers will provide, as they have done for many years. I stand by the multiple five-star reviews accurately detailing our “Nature Lover’s Escape”. A review of “MarketMaker”, VRBO’s comparative pricing tool, indicated my rates were below comparable sized homes, with less property features and no access to beaches and trails where footsteps are few, during that time period.

This was NOT a nice rental.

I have many photographs to show that the posted photos are deceptive. Mildew on awnings--they were black and rotting. Mildew on life preserver for 3 foot deep above ground pool--unsuitable for laps Mildew on outdoor furniture Stains on furniture in living areas...had to put towels down to sit to feel comfortable. Rust stained lamp bases...bugs in the light fixtures... This is not how I live nor how I like to vacation. Owner offered me money to not discuss this further with him or anyone else--I did not take it. It was insulting. I paid (in full) more than I would have to stay in a nice hotel during the lowest season. I have over a dozen photographs that speak volumes.

This renter, over a period of 4 months, attempted to extort monies from me from the discounted rental amount she paid. First it was her initial tale of hardship, then her inconsistent mixed messages of her likes and dislikes about our rental. There was the selective photography, where one outdoor chair, with a saltwater stain was photographed, among all the other outdoor chairs that were new. Her selective photography went as far as removing the custom covers on the futon to photograph a Clorox stain. The pool is a semi in ground pool, specially made to be installed in a slopping hill, shipped from the States, and costing more than traditional cement or fiberglass pools. It is 25 feet long, 15 feet wide and 52 inches deep. I repeatedly asked and offered a reasonable sum of money to resolve this matter to avoid her implied threat of a negative review on all my web advertising sites. Her response was consistent; the amount of additional monies offered was an “insult”. Every comment this disgruntled renter made about our home was petty, picky and often the result of living on the windward side of the Caribbean Sea and at the edge of a tropical wildlife sanctuary. Her comments are disingenuous. I stand by my 22 positive reviews, the quality and service of the rental we offer and the integrity of the photographs that accurately represent our rental. I will not be held hostage to extortion.
