If you like the Ahwahnee hotel in Yosemite, you'll love our little Ahwahnee-be cabin. Decorated with mission oak furniture and Indian themed fabrics and Pendletons, this 1953 vintage cabin is just a 10 minute walk into town.
The space:
Walk to county and state parks, hiking trails, bouldering and skate park. A beautiful real river rock fireplace is at the heart of this unique cabin. Large 1/2 acre lot with a badminton court. Downstairs is a game room/theater and large screen TV with surround sound, DVD, and PS2 game console. We have lots of Xbox 360 games, so bring your own Xbox.
Super Fast Gigabit WiFi.
Another nice feature of this cabin is the real plaster ceiling. Many of the cabins in Idyllwild have the same wood paneling on the ceiling as the walls. This makes for a rather dark room, and a feeling as though one is living in a crate.
Some reviewers have mentioned the word "loft" for the upstairs bedroom. To be clear, it is a large finished attic room with it's own door to the stairs. The ceiling, however, is 6 feet high, so us tall ones have to stoop a little!
We are on a corner large lot at a 3-way stop three blocks from town. Like any property that close to town, we have occasional cars pass by our cabin. Evenings and nights are mostly dead quiet.
This is a cabin, there is a fireplace, and it is used. There may be a faint smell of smoke when you arrive. We do our best to clean the fireplace every time, but it is not perfect.
$50 pet fee per week or portion thereof.
Other things to note:
We have a window air conditioner in the living room during the summer. There are fans in every room to move that cool air around. Usually we open the windows at night and close them in the mornings on hot days and the place will stay cool most of the day, even without the air conditioner on.
The downstairs space (where the half bath is also) is normally unheated, so it may take a while to warm up with the space heater in the winter. Also, the stairs are a bit steep (up to code in 1953!). There is a handrail, but not recommended for toddlers and the elderly. Please keep the door locked when not in use.
The attic room stairs are also steeper than you may be use to, but they are carpeted with a handrail, and are behind a lockable door. On the hottest summer days, the attic room will get warm, but is well ventilated and always cools off at night considerably.
Sorry, no wood is provided for the fireplace. One can purchase boxes of wood from both markets in town, and there is usually kindling in the box. If not, we may have kindling in boxes at the rear of the property.
