Newly built country house in Kjósarhreppur, Hvalfjörður only 40 minutes from Reykjavík surrounded by beautiful nature and ocean view.

The house comes with all modern amenities to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Television in every bedroom, Wi-Fi, washing machine/dryer, towels included. The sundeck overlooks the sea and has a hot tub along with a sauna, also there is an outside fireplace to relax on a calm summer night.

The surrounding area is filled with activities. Great for hiking and fishing. With Iceland's National Park Þingvellir 25 minutes away.

Das Haus hat alle Annehmlichkeiten. Whirlpool und Sauna sind einfach zu bedienen. Die Küche ist wie beschrieben sehr gut ausgestattet. Man fühlt sich einfach sofort wie zu Hause. Die Aussicht ist unbeschreiblich und man kann an guten Tagen sogar die Polarlichter vom Wohnzimmer aus betrachten. Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt und der Gastgeber war immer erreichbar!

Beautiful home for our Iceland adventure. This place was awesome! Comfortable rooms and an incredible kitchen. We could not have asked for a better home base during our stay. Oh, and the Northern Lights really pop out here! The hot tub and sauna made for a wonderful end of the day treat.

This house and host exceed all expectations! The house is immaculate the view is extraordinary the neighborhood is peaceful. See saw Northern lights all 6 nights we were there. Nov2025. This house was amazing. Incredible views. It was very clean with an updated kitchen and bathrooms. Our teenage kids loved the sauna, cold bath, hot tub and fitness gym. We all loved the incredible coffee maker. This is one of those rentals that is even nicer than the pictures make it appear. We stayed here for the first two nights of our week-long trip in Iceland and we used this to visit Reykjavik. The drive to/from Reykjavik was an easy 40 minutes, but we didn't mind it at all because the views were so amazing. One day, we saw whales playing in the fjord. The host was very responsive and helpful. We can tell that he takes a lot of pride in providing an amazing rental experience for his guests. Thank you for everything.

Awesome House

We stayed at this property for 3 nights, wish we could have stayed longer! Amazing views, kids loved the video games, sauna and hot tub were nice after a long day of sightseeing. Host was super responsive to check in questions and showed us around and had manuals for operating hot tub and sauna. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in this area!

Amazing Views & A Beautiful Home

We had an amazing visit. Gretar’s house is fully equipped and amazingly designed. The views are unimaginable.We were traveling as a family (me, my wife, 2 children (ages 2 & 6), my mother-in-law, and my mom) and had a great stay. Gretar has everything you need at the house for little kids, which was super helpful. The kitchen has everything you need. The house itself is really nicely designed. The deck is great and the hot tub and sauna were really nice. Again, I can’t say enough about the views. The house may seem remote but there is a great hot springs and restaurant a few minutes down the road. We have been to Iceland a few times to visit and this by far was our best trip. It was nice to be outside of Reykjavik and get relax away from the tour buses. Also, Gretar was great to work with and very responsive. Our original flights from the States were cancelled, which pushed back our arrival a few days. Luckily, the place was still available and Gretar helped make things seamless. Overall, I highly recommend staying here.

Great quiet and convenient

I highly recommend this place to stay if you are planning anything in the northwest areas of Iceland. It was clean well stocked and convenient too many destinations north west of Reykjavík. The hosts met us with the key and make sure that we were informed of all the amenities the property had to offer

Incredible northern lights

We stayed for about a week over new year for a friends reunion and the not so secret hope of catching the northern lights. The property is lovely, the views are incredible, and the host was very kind and communicative. We cooked in the lovely kitchen each day and took small trips to local sites (waterfalls, hot springs). New year's eve at about 10:30/11 we had a spectacular view of the northern lights from inside and all around the property. Highly, highly recommend if you're looking for a similar experience.

Wonderful stay and the northern lights too!

The house was as described. Very well appointed. Spotless. Quiet with a relaxing view out the window. We saw the northern lights right off the back deck- amazing! Check in process was very easy. Great location for heading to the north, the Golden Circle, Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Multiple locations for natural soaking baths, one just a few minutes down the road. The house has bedrooms on both sides with the living area in the middle so great for multiple couples or several adults ( my party) wanting a little privacy. We didn’t want to leave, and would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful modern home with great layout

My husband and I with 4 young adults (family and partners) thoroughly enjoyed staying at this quiet, comfortable home. The hot tub, cold plunge and the sauna added to the enjoyment especially with few nights of northern light displays and the beautiful night sky. I liked that the bedrooms were divided into 2 wings and the common area including the kitchen was in the center of the house plan. We could get up early and not disturb the kids who stayed up much later than us. Everyone loved the fancy coffee machine and the owner was quick to replace the filter when the machine called for it. The kitchen was well equipped with pots and pans as well as various dishes and cups that made our dinner settings fun!

Stunning views are just the beginning!

We loved our stay here. In July the midnight sun has been beyond spectacular. The house has huge windows in the living room. It’s beautifully appointed with cutting edge appliances. The hosts were quick to respond to questions. A first-rate experience!
