Welcome to your stylish sanctuary in the heart of Atlanta, just steps from the Southside Trail of the Beltline. Recently renovated, our downstairs apartment blends comfort with modern design, featuring an open-concept living area, bedroom with privacy curtain, spacious bathroom, and private patio overlooking a dog-lover’s dream—a huge, fully fenced backyard that’s practically a mini dog park!

Amenities Galore:
Relax on the plush couch with ultra-fast internet. Enjoy a touch of nostalgia with our retro Super Nintendo system, perfect for some classic gaming. The kitchenette is equipped with essentials, including a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and hot plate.

Outdoor Luxuries:
Step out onto your private patio with views of the expansive backyard—a secure, perfect space for your dog to roam freely.

Accessibility & Privacy:
The apartment entrance is at the back, accessed through a shared storage room with a separate door for guest privacy. A shared laundry room is also available.

Host & Pets:
I live upstairs with my dog Cece. I’m often available to greet you and offer a personal tour, or you can check in easily via lockbox if needed.

Prime Location:
Our home is in a peaceful, forested neighborhood near Grant Park and Zoo Atlanta. Explore urban farms and green spaces nearby, or take a quick bike or Uber ride to Atlanta’s vibrant neighborhoods and entertainment venues.

Transport:
We’re a $10-15, 15-20 minute Uber ride from the airport, and just 10 minutes/$5-10 to downtown. The closest MARTA station (MLK JR) is about a mile away.

Please Note:

***When renovating we did install soundproofing, however we feel it’s necessary to note that the house was built in the 1940s and will never be completely soundproof. We do our best to be mindful when we have guests, but you may occasionally hear footsteps or other sounds upstairs. We provide earplugs for light sleepers, as we do get up early for work. Never hesitate to reach out if the upstairs noise is too loud.

The location was perfect for our needs. We loved the yard. Parking was easy to find. The basement apartment was very spacious for two adults and two dogs. We saw many families walking their dogs and felt very safe taking our dogs for a walk in the neighborhood. We would stay again the next time we visit the area.

There was an impressionable lack of communication to the point where I had to have someone from Vrbo’s customer service call the host for check-in instructions. There was dog feces in front of the property that attracted flies around and into the property (the hose did pick it up after I asked). The unit also had an unpleasant smell throughout and could possibly benefit from a good deep clean. The neighborhood was nice to walk through and the location is easy to find with lots of restaurants and businesses close by.

Thank you for your feedback. To clarify for future guests, check-in instructions are only released once a reservation is paid in full—unfortunately this step was not completed on time despite multiple messages we sent through VRBO and to the phone number on file. This created delays and confusion at check-in that were outside of our control. As for the comments about odor, there is no odor in our home. We have been hosting this basement apartment for almost a decade, and in that time the vast majority of guests have really enjoyed their stay. We have not received any similar complaints from the many guests who stayed before you or from the many guests who have stayed after. Our property is professionally cleaned between each reservation. We’re glad you enjoyed the neighborhood and its convenient location, and we will continue working hard to provide a comfortable and welcoming space for our guests.

Great Stay!

Our stay at the Vrbo property exceeded all expectations! It had everything we could have asked for and more. The home was not only clean and comfortable but also had a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. We were pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness and how comfortable the furniture was. The vinyl player was my favorite touch, which we used it a lot. :) Michael was a fantastic host—friendly and accommodating, making the entire experience seamless. The only minor issue was that the cleaning service was still there when we arrived, but Michael had given us a heads-up in advance, so it wasn't a problem at all."

Good house, good location

This is a great place for someone with a dog. The rental unit is downstairs in the fenced back yard. It has coffee, a microwave and a refrigerator. It has a large living room area and dining room. The hosts communicated information in a timely way and were quite helpful. The house is in a great location, 5 minutes from East Atlanta Village and about the same to Grant Park. It is a block from the beltline although the access is a little steep. The price was quite reasonable.

Beyond Sketchy

From the onset, communication was lacking to the point we had to get VRBO to call host twice for check in details which wasn’t received until an hour before check in. We drove 6hrs to find this property with an access down a slippery, poorly maintained flagstone pathway going downhill to a basement door that enters into a TOOL SHED with tools all over the floor to step over with no lights on with two other doors. Upon opening the door to rental unit again no lights on...just enough from outside door to see the unit was completely disheveled. This felt disgusting, terrifying and we chose to not even step inside but instead flee! How this until has several good reviews is astounding, because our experience from A-Z was unprofessional, gross, odd, scary, and nothing was like pictured including the outside patio furniture that should be in the dumpster. Don’t just walk..run away from this listing Silenceof the Lambs vibe! walkway

We take all feedback seriously, but comparing your stay to a 90s thriller like Silence of the Lambs is simply not accurate and unfair. To clarify for future guests, check-in instructions are only released once a reservation is paid in full. In this case, payment was not completed on time despite multiple reminders through VRBO and to the phone number on file, and we even had to get in contact directly to remind you before releasing check-in details. Over the past decade, literally thousands of guests have stayed with us, and the overwhelming majority have enjoyed their experience in both our home and neighborhood. Your comments are so far removed from the experiences of other guests that they say more about the intent behind them than about our property. We remain committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and comfortable stay for every guest who chooses our home.

Hi, I’m Michael! I’m a proud University of Georgia grad (Go Dawgs!!!) and also studied Finance and Accounting at the University of Virginia. After school, I moved to Atlanta and worked in finance for several years before discovering my true passion: hosting.
I started back in 2015 by renting out a spare bedroom, which quickly grew into remodeling a basement and eventually helping friends and family design their own vacation homes. What began as a side project turned into Host This Home in 2018, where I now get to focus full-time on creating comfortable, memorable spaces for travelers.

I also serve as Treasurer for the Atlanta Metro Short-Term Rental Association, where I work with other hosts to keep Atlanta’s short-term rental community strong and welcoming.

When you stay with me, my goal is simple: to make you feel right at home while enjoying everything our city has to offer.
