Joanne, I’m sorry the cottage was not a good fit for you. I do want to clarify a few points for future guests reading this review. When you chose to leave after the first night, your message to me stated that I had been “nothing but gracious,” described the cottage as “adorable,” and said simply that it was not a good fit for you as seniors. At that time, no concern regarding the quality or condition of the mattresses, couches, or any other furnishings was reported to me, nor was I given an opportunity to address such a concern during your stay. After your early departure, you requested a partial refund. Your reservation was already underway and was subject to the cancellation policy accepted at booking. Nevertheless, I offered to reimburse you for any remaining nights that I was able to rebook. Unfortunately, none of those dates were rebooked. I respect that mattress comfort and a property’s suitability are personal preferences, and I understand that this cottage will not be the right fit for everyone. However, I don’t believe it is accurate to characterize following the agreed cancellation policy as having “no sense of fairness,” particularly after I offered reimbursement for any nights I could successfully rebook. I take guest feedback seriously and always encourage guests to contact me immediately if there is an issue with the property so I have an opportunity to address it during their stay.
