Perfect Waterfront Getaway With Covered Dock

A perfect 5 bedroom lake house on Norris Lake located in a private cove just off one of the main shorelines with year round water and a gradual grade, perfect for a year-round getaway. Safe and perfect location for swimming right off the dock. All bedding, linens, and furniture (sectional, coffee table, end tables, and rug) in main living room are newer for the summer. As part of this rental you also will have a covered slip and 2 jet ski ports to use. The deck and location is private and tucked back to allow for peaceful and calm evenings just taking in the views. The house has a family room / common space on the main floor as well as in the basement. The 5th bedroom has a custom built bunk room setup with four full beds. The hot tub on the lower deck makes for the perfect evening soak while relaxing and unwinding from a long day on the lake, or for a perfect weekend getaway during chillier weather.

NEW for 2024: rip rap across shoreline and a new oven for yummy family meals. We also upgraded our WiFi to Starlink so service is good! NEW for 2025: roof, HVAC and fridge.

Property is conveniently located to 3 marinas all of which have boat rental options:
Shanghai: about 33 minute boat ride / 15 minute drive to house (7 miles)
Whitman: 13 minute boat ride / 17 minute drive to house (8.5 miles)
Sequoyah: 11 minute boat ride / 1 hour drive to house (39 miles)

Property is also located near several boat ramps if you are bringing your own. One of quite a few includes Big Creek Ramp which is about a 23 minute boat ride to the house (less than a 15 minute drive from the house).

For the avid golfer who wants to also enjoy a quick 9 or scenic 18, Deerfield golf course is conveniently located about 15 minutes from the house.

The home is just under 30 minutes from Interstate 75 (exit 134 - 25W/63E/9). The main exit where you can find all that you need - Walmart Super Center, Lowe’s, Fast Food, etc. Walmart is about an 18 min drive to the home for those that need to pick up groceries and gear.

This is a very nice house that met my family’s needs perfectly. First impression when walking in the house was that it was clean and well kept. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare meals, the washer and dryer worked great! The living room was perfect size with a nice big tv to watch Ohio State football on and the Star Link WiFi worked great !! Short walk to the covered dock that we were able to dock 3 boats at, easy to get in and out. The cove is very quiet and there was deer everywhere!! You could almost walk right up to them! The dock has a nice swimming platform with ladder to swim right from the dock, several marinas in short boat ride distance. The host was very responsive in replying to our messages ( my wife sent several ) and answering all our questions. We definitely will try and stay here again in the future and share it with friends!!

Awesome stay in a great house/perfect location - we’ll be back!

We had a great stay at this house! The owners were accommodating and responsive. The location is perfect - close to the main strip where all the food/groceries are, multiple marinas close by and beautiful secluded cove with a private dock to keep our boat right at the house. The house was very clean and you can tell the owners just bought a lot of new items - bedding, towels, furniture, etc. The nights were a little cooler this time of year so the hot tub was a perfect way to end the night! We will def be return guests! Great home and owners!

Overall it was worth the stay.

We had a great time! The listing showed a hot tub but we could not really use it due the smell and lack of chemicals. Everything was clean and staying in touch with the owners was easy. There was almost no cell service even over the internet, the internet and streaming services worked well. Over all we had a great stay!

Perfect Getaway before School

We rented pretty last minute as we are building a house in the area and travel to the lake often. We decided to come back one more time before the kids go back to school. I was so happy to find such a nice place for my family and a couple of friends. The owners were kind and very responsive. Everyone had a great time and it ended up being one of our favorite lake trips this year. Beautiful house, very cozy, and well stocked.

A good time

The house was spacious, we had everything we needed to live for the week. Trip to dock is steep but you can find a less steep walk to water. As someone once told me, “lake living comes with the steep area”. The cove was a nice one for swimming. Beds were really comfy! Lots of space to spread out. Owners were quick to respond to any inquiries had. I’d recommend the house.

June stay

We enjoyed our stay. The walk to the dock was easy. The drive was steeper than we thought, but were able to park a pontoon trailer, 2 jet ski trailers, & 4 vehicles with space to spare in the driveway. Internet was limited. House had plenty of room for us all. Very nice equipped kitchen. Extra freezer space. Washer and dryer are older. Dryer took a couple of cycles to dry.

Norris Lake 2025

We come down to Norris Lake every year and stay at different rentals each time to get a better feel for the area. We started our search process back in January and chose this property over 5 others because we thought it would be a good fit. We were very disappointed upon our arrival with the condition of the house and for the amount of money we spent (this property was the most expensive out of the 5 we vetted). When we parked in the driveway we found pieces of the stone retaining wall all over the pavement. The inside had dust bunnies in every corner and coffee grounds left in the coffee maker. Door handles were missing from bedroom doors and the toilets did not properly flush. The basement flooring was uneven and we kept stubbing our toes while walking on it. There was no easy way to get down to the dock because there was no clear path from the house. Several of us slid and tripped on the rocks leading to the dock. Young kids and elderly would have a very difficult time accessing the dock. The railings on the dock were broken and all rubber trim was coming loose causing damage to our boat when tied up. Both the fridge and the A/C went out during our stay in 90 degree heat. We found food in the fridge from July of 2024 when we had to relocate all of our food items from the broken fridge to coolers filled with ice. Norris Lake is beautiful and we will be back but renting from a different property.

Dissatisfied

Unfortunately our experience with this house was awful. The descriptions of the area and home are not accurate. There is no access to a boat ramp at the dock. The hill is extremely steep. When we arrived almost all the bathroom sinks did not drain. We all had to share a bathroom because the toilets were clogged and weren't fixed until the day before we left. We had no air conditioning for 2 days it was 85 degrees in the house where my 77 year old grandmother and my 1 year old daughter were stuck inside dealing with the heat. They also do not inform you that you must share the dock with the neighbors which was very uncomfortable and they were extremely rude and blasted music at 7am so loud everyone had no choice but to wake up. The owner is trying to charge me for issues that were not caused by us. This is the first time ive ever had to leave such a bad review about a place. My entire family was there for a relaxing vacation and the place ended up being nothing but inconvenient and stressful.

Hi Megan, to address your comments: -our description states there are multiple boat ramps nearby, not at our home. -we’ve not had any complaints on the grade of our driveway esp. in comparison to most Norris homes. -you had two operable bathrooms the whole time. The one sink and toilet that had issues were operable upon arrival. The plumber that fixed the issue while you were there informed us it was due to something being flushed that shouldn’t have been or clogged by the group. -you informed us Friday afternoon that the AC wasn’t working properly and we had the issue fixed Saturday. -we were prepared to offer you money back which we informed you of for the inconvenience of the AC issue that was fixed the next day but due to the damage that the group caused to furniture as well as the marijuana smoke that needed additional cleaning, we decided to use those funds for those two things which we never said we’d charge you for. -we do not share a dock nor have neighbors that use our dock.

Awesome lakefront property!

We loved this house! Plenty of room for everyone! We took a ski boat and a fishing boat and several big floats/rafts and the dock accommodated all nicely even though the second slip with the lift wasn’t working. The basement was great for the kids with the bunk room and large family room. All the appliances worked well. The only drawback was the walk down to the dock. You may want to bring your hiking boots to get down there. I think the owners may be in the process of fixing this issue. All in all it was a great place! And the lake was so amazing! It really is beautiful! I would recommend this property to friends and family and hope that we can come back again.

Go Buckeyes!

My friends and I go to Norris every year, but got a late start to booking this year. We were getting desperate with the only available listings until fait intervened and this property became available. We thought it was too good to be true because of the beautiful pictures, open availability and it’s affordability —let me tell you it was not! The home is absolutely lives up to the expectations! It’s beautiful, extremely spacious, and is the perfect location right on the lake. We had 12 adults in our group and we all slept comfortably (seriously the beds are extremely comfy) and had plenty of room for luggage and our big personalities. There is a huge private dock, a fire pit, and a big deck so we never ran out of places to hang out. The location is perfect and you can get to several marinas in a short boat ride. My only caution (besides having too much fun) would be to walk extremely slowly coming up and down to the dock. The house is on a big hill and there is a trail leading to the dock with small stones that proved treacherous for my friends and I after a day drinking on the boat. Lastly, not enough good things could be said about our hosts, Lindsey and Matt. Not only are they Ohio State fans, but they were both extremely communicative and 20/10 friendly. They kept me in the loop during everything and checked in to make sure we got in okay and afterwards to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Thank you both for letting us stay in your beautiful home and making this vacation one to remember!

Everything we needed

We had great experience renting this property. As one of the first occupants of this new listing, we had lots of questions for the owners before we booked our stay. They were incredibly responsive, and you can tell they care for the property. Upon arrival, the home was immaculate and our young children LOVED the bunk bed room. It was great being located on a quiet cove. Our children spent every morning swimming near the dock while we got the boat ready to take out on the water. It was incredibly convenient having a home with a private dock, however the accessibility to the dock may be a challenge to some individuals. The path to the dock is not fully paved, and involves stepping over small tree roots and some rocks. It is also a big step up/down from the edge of the grass to the dock when the lake water level is low.

Great family spot!

Accomodating and responsive owners for sure. Could see the TLC put into the place and it was very clean. Great spacious kitchen to accommodate prepping/cooking for large groups. Great location too!
