La Grange Riveraine: Spacious lodge on Dordogne with private pool, sleeps 15

Welcome to La Grange Riveraine! Relax with the whole family at this peaceful getaway, with exclusive use of 5 bedroom gîte and the gorgeous heated pool (open May 15 through September 30). All with direct access to the Dordogne river!

15 guest maximum is legal and insurance maximum, and includes all children and babies, as well as day guests.

Newly renovated throughout, enjoy darts and a full-size snooker table inside, with table tennis, badminton, and even a children's climber on the extensive grounds. Meander through the private forest along the riverside, bring a fishing pole, roast marshmallows in the fire pit - perfect for large groups and family getaways!

La Grange Riveraine is our enormous, and recently renovated, 18th century barn, facing the gardens. Here a pergola provides a shady seating area next to the barbecue and pool. Three all-weather tables provide outdoor seating for up to 15 adults, plus the children have their own picnic table.

This patio leads to the private entrance, with a foyer equipped with a fridge/freezer for easy access to drinks, ice, and food storage. Accessible from the foyer is a Utilities and Games room with a convenient ground floor shower, WC and washing machine. The living areas are accessed up the staircase here.

On the first floor of La Grange Riveraine is the open plan living area. The dining table can accommodate 15, with two high chairs available. The well-equipped kitchen has two gas rings and four electric plates above the oven, a microwave, a dishwasher, and two under-counter fridges. The lounge area has a big screen TV with both French and English channels and a DVD player available. Free secure fiber Wi-Fi. A new 9 ft snooker table is provided and the dartboard is ready!

La Grange Riveraine beds are as follows:
• Master Bedroom is on the first floor overlooking the pool, with a king-size bed, a single bed, and a new shower room.
Bedrooms 2, 3, 4, 5, and the family bathroom are on the 2nd floor.
• Bedroom 2 has a queen-size bed and shares the family bath and shower room with 3 and 4.
• Bedroom 3 has 3 single beds and a bunk bed - great for kids!
• Bedroom 4 has two single beds and is very cute.
• Bedroom 5 has a king-size bed, wooden crib, and new shower room

The sofa in living room pulls out to a double bed, and two additional child travel cots are available on request. There is also a single bed on the 2nd floor landing. If any of these extra sleeping spaces are needed, please just request in advance so they will be made up and ready.

All bed linen and bath towels are provided, for indoor use only. *Please bring your own swimming pool towels.*

Adjacent to the pergola is a large charcoal-burning barbecue. The swimming pool (measuring 5 x 10 m with a maximum depth of 2 m) is fenced and gated with child-proof latches. The pool is serviced daily by the owner and may be used 10am to 8pm. A selection of poolside furniture is provided.

Garden
In the garden, there is a net to play either volleyball or badminton; balls and rackets are provided. There is a ping-pong table, too. A swing set and jungle gym are provided for the youngsters - parents must be responsible for their children's safety.

The garden leads down a path to a riverside meadow from which there is direct access to the river for fishing and wild swimming. In summer river levels are low and canoe hire (just up the road) is tremendously popular! The grounds also include about one acre of natural woodland, wonderful for experiencing nature and discovering wildlife, big and small. Sitting quietly on the riverbank you might see a kingfisher, heron, and possibly even an otter. You could discover an iron ring set in stone to which the rope ferry was anchored in past times.

Newly installed fiber Wifi allows for full connectivity, when you are not busy relaxing in the sun and soaking in all the green! If you need to work, an office space is provided in the master bedroom of La Grange.

Chris and Garland live in the cottage next door and will be available to welcome you and otherwise keep out of your way except when you need us. You might see us enjoying our private garden areas or working on the grounds.
