The area around Place des Quinconces is quiet, dominated by opulent 18th and 19th century buildings. The area is served by tram lines B, C and D, which meet at the âQuinconcesâ stop. They provide easy access to the north and south of Bordeaux. The river shuttles also have a boarding pontoon opposite the square. The long pedestrian and cycle promenade along the Garonne is ideal for residents of the Quinconces district who want to adopt a more environmentally-friendly mode of transport, go running or simply take a stroll with the family. The exceptional size of the square, which makes it one of the largest in Europe, is ideal for organising large-scale events on a regular basis: the twice-yearly fair, as well as occasional concerts. The AllĂ©es de Tourny are the venue for the Christmas market and the Epicuriales in June.
