A taste of history! If you love log cabins, The Lookout is a serenely beautiful, 100-year-old restored cabin immersed in nature with breathtaking views. It's like stepping back in time into a secluded mountain haven.

As you enter, you'll notice the rustic décor with exposed log walls and all the comforts of home. The living room features a big comfy couch, fireplace, flat-screen TV and the cutest window seat ever …perfect for reading a good book.

The combined galley kitchen and breakfast nook is efficient for preparing snacks for your hike or enjoying your morning coffee — but don't forget about the deck with its custom raised deck chairs! The views are enough to make you want to spend all day outdoors.

The outdoor hot tub is ideal for relaxing after a day of hiking or sightseeing, with the mountain air to refresh your soul. Imagine just letting time drift by from your seat on the porch swing…such peace in a natural setting!

Share memories around the fire pit… roasting marshmallows or hotdogs to get that smoky taste. Surround yourself in nature and create new memories to last a lifetime.

The loft bedroom features a king bed. A bath/shower is on the main floor. If you have additional guests, a sleeper sofa will accommodate them. Perfect for a weekend lover's getaway with a cozy feel, this historic log home awaits you for a relaxing retreat with its own mountain majestic views, surrounded by natural beauty.

Amazing trip!

We had the BEST time visiting Mentone and The Lookout at Mentone was the PERFECT cabin. We had everything we needed and we were very comfortable. Holly was only a text away and answered all of our questions quickly. Will definitely be back!

Perfect Getaway

The Lookout at Mentone exceeded our expectations. The views were phenomenal and the hot tub was perfect after a long day of hiking. Cabin had rustic charm, it was clean, and had everything we needed. Will definitely stay here again!

Incredible!

'The Lookout' is a perfect spot for a couple's retreat. We affectionately call it "the bubble" and love coming out here to get away from absolutely everything. This was our second time staying at this property and I cannot recommend it more highly. The cabin has everything you need, the bed is sooooo comfy, and the porch, porch swing, and hot tub are just divine.

Beautiful!

Great little place to stay. Absolutely gorgeous view! Inside stairs are a bit steep and slippery and the products they cleaned with were a bit strong for asthmatic ~ other than that, no complaints. Would definitely recommend.

Perfect weekend getaway

We enjoyed our stay at The Lookout in Mentone! It was a first visit to Mentone and definitely will be back in the future! The cabin was everything we thought it would be, very clean and decorated nicely with an amazing view. The bed swing was very comfortable and the perfect spot to sit and relax while watching the sunset. If I could give more than 5 stars I certainly would. Loved our restful stay at the Lookout at Mentone

We were blessed with four nights staying at this wonderful log cabin retreat perched on a bluff with the most gorgeous view. Just soaking up the view made me heave a deep relaxing sigh! My husband and I are working independent musicians and getting the chance to have some days off was so needed and a real treat. We mostly self-catered but did treat ourselves to a meal at one of the many fantastic restaurants in the area, we went for walks, and visited the lovely gift shops in downtown Mentone that are just minutes away. I highly recommend The Look Out at Mentone. The hot tub just iced the cake! We really relaxed and slept better than we had in ages! I hope to be able to visit and stay here again.

Amazing get away

We came to Mentone for our 38th anniversary. This was the absolute best trip we have ever taken. The cabin was wonderful and well equipped. It had everything we needed. The back porch was close to Heaven. We truly enjoyed the sunset view from the hot tub and the bed swing. We only went out to eat one evening and then we wished we would have stayed at the cabin. To top it all off this cabin is pet friendly and our fur baby loved it just as much as we did. Can’t wait to come back and enjoy the peace and tranquility very soon.

The view!

The first thing you notice, when walking into the cabin, is the view. The second thing you noticed is how efficient the space has been set up for guests. The third, and final thing, is the king size bed! There is very limited traffic on the road outside the cabin, making the hot tub a relaxing destination in the evening. Be sure to bring ALL of your sundries, as there are limited grocery options prior to arriving at the site. Since we are season travelers, we were prepared, but for a novice, make your grocery list and bring everything. We will definitely return, and recommend it for a future relaxation destination. PS the customer service and communication from the host agency was excellent!

Lives up to the name

We arrived for a long weekend getaway to celebrate our 25th Anniversary. We usually stay at Just Bluffin' (another cabin nearby) but it was not available, but fortunately for us, the Lookout was! The old cabin on the mountain's edge certainly deserves the name, The Lookout. We spent over an hour one afternoon looking out over the valley as the rain clouds rolled down the far hillside before finally reaching us. We then moved to the spacious front porch where we sat in the rocking chairs and listened to the raindrops on the metal roof. The large rear deck allowed us to grill, dine out, relax in the swing bed, lounge in the deck chairs, and spend time in the hot tub with room to spare. Of course, the views are fantastic; morning, noon, or night with sundowns being especially colorful. Perhaps the best feature is the loft bedroom and the King-sized bed when the day is through. Modern conveniences with rustic charm. We will most definitely be back.

Isolated property with amazing views!

This place is so clean and quaint! We were afraid since it was pet friendly that it might smell or have traces of a dog, but that was not the case! We had no idea any pets had been there at all! We were also glad that there were no other homes near this one. There were trees on each side- very secluded, however the main road is just a few feet away from the house. This did not pose a problem as there wasn't much traffic anyway. The pictures show exactly how everything is inside and out! We didn't get to enjoy the fire pit- it rained the whole time, but that only made the view more picturesque with the clouds rolling through the valley. The bed is pretty firm, but it was comfortable and there are plenty of really nice pillows. The bathroom is downstairs and the shower is a small stand-up. The house is just about 8 minutes from downtown Mentone and about 30 minutes away from DeSoto park and Little River waterfalls. You will LOVE staying in this location! We hope to go back during the fall next time to really enjoy the colors in the valley.

Highly recommend. Yes, it has the view you are hoping for and it’s absolutely amazing! Back deck is perfectly set up to enjoy the view and has the bonus of being fully enclosed allowing our dog to be unleashed. Deck has a dining table, charcoal grill, big porch swing, adirondack chairs and a hot tub. The cabin feels isolated. You don’t see or hear any other cabins. There are a couple cabins down the street but blocked by trees so you have total privacy. Close to the road but there is almost no traffic since the cabin is about 5 miles outside town in the opposite direction of the state park. Inside is nice and comfortable with all the modern amenities in good working order. Perfect couples retreat. We will be back.

About as good as it gets!

Pictures can't really do the view and the property justice. It's really an incredible scene as you pull up, with a wrap around deck well appointed to enjoy it. The cabin is a great mix of modern where it makes sense (kitchen, bathroom, appliances) and rustic everywhere else - it's super charming while still being functional and practical. Another factor that is hard to get across in the photos is that it's very private! There are other rentals a couple hundred yards down the road, but you can't see or hear anyone else so it's quite peaceful. The hot tub was great (and hot on arrival), there were plenty of towels, kitchen supplies, and even sugar and cream for coffee. Very well appointed for this type of cabin rental, in my experience. Communication and check-in/out were all great, no friction no issues at all. The market and other shops in Mentone are barely a 5 minute drive down the ridge, and some really great trailheads are within about a 10 minute drive as well. This was our first time in Mentone, and it's hard to imagine a better first experience.

Wanderlust and Everything Else You Need

If you’re looking for an escape that offers breathtaking views, close vicinity to local attractions, quiet and relaxation, along with little touches like extra towels (for hot tub), cream & sweeteners, and fire roasting sticks for those smores you’re sure to crave, this is the getaway for you! Beautiful view and cozy cabin

The view is gorgeous when it's not foggy/rainy. Unfortunately two of the days we were there it was like that. But we did see it on the first day. The cabin is cozy and relaxing. There are neighbors, but they aren't very close and we couldn't see them, only could faintly hear them. It's far enough away from town where you feel alone with nature. The area is really nice and quiet.
