Escape to Deer Lake Lodge, a historic and cheerful farmhouse where you’ll relax in nature, reflect on life, and restore yourself.

Deer Lake Lodge is a three story, four bedroom farmhouse started out life as a hunting lodge in the 1920’s that has been lovingly restored over the past three decades while maintaining its rustic charm.

A large eat in family kitchen comes with everything you’ll need to prepare a meal including stainless steel appliances and a dishwasher. The dining room table can comfortably seat eight people making it the perfect way to come together for meals. The homey living room features a massive corner sofa and Smart TV. An additional sofa surrounds the wood stove at the far end of the living room for larger groups. Two large outdoor porches provide quiet corners to enjoy a quiet cup of tea or coffee while taking in the magnificent view. In the summer gather on the outdoor deck while you cook up a feast on the BBQ or fire up the wood-burning pizza oven. Connect with family and friends as you sit around the campfire escaping from it all while watching “nature’s tv” under the stars.

There are three bedrooms on the second floor (two doubles and a queen), a home office, and a bathroom with a shower and heavenly claw foot bathtub to soak in. The toilet is in a separate bathroom which makes sharing this house very functional. The third floor master is tucked snuggly into the rafters with a comfy king size bed and an ensuite loo (British slang for toilet only).

Explore the amazing Almaguin Highlands where there is plenty to do all year around. In the winter cross country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling are available at your doorstep and dog sledding is just one hour away. In summer enjoy water sports, biking, hiking, artist galleries, shops, restaurants, ATVing, horseback riding and golfing. Deer Lake Lodge is not directly on the water but with your summer rental you’ll get a free day pass to access the provincial parks in the area such as Algonquin Park (40 minutes away) and Mikisew. Mikisew is located on Eagle Lake and is just 10 minutes away. It is a great spot to hike, play frisbee golf and spend time at the lake swimming, relaxing on the beach, fishing, kayaking and canoeing.

Deer Lake Lodge is a 20 minute drive from the town of South River where you’ll find your essential needs including a grocery store, LCBO, craft brewery and pharmacy. The Crystal Caves and its surrounding artisan village just south of town is a spectacular way to spend an afternoon. Sundridge is just 10 minutes down the road with its quaint Main Street featuring several shops and restaurants.

PLEASE NOTE: There are three other sites on the premises (known as DEER LAKE WILDERNESS RETREAT) but they are spread out across the 10.5 acre property. You will have your own driveway and private outdoor space which is completely separate from the sites. As a guest of DEER LAKE WILDERNESS RETREAT you are welcome to use the trails and communal barn which oozes with rustic charm. In the communal barn apartment you'll find a kitchenette with a stove, microwave, air fryer, coffee maker, tea kettle and all your cooking basics. There is also a sitting area and farmhouse table for your use, connecting at the end of the day in the candlelit barn is a magical experience.

Your rental includes duvets, duvet covers and pillows, but if you want us to provide you with sheets for the beds and towels there is an additional $75 linen fee.
