Step into the extraordinary at Camp Karibu, one of the few remaining historic cottages of the former Lake Placid Club, reinvented as a 6,000 sq ft luxury retreat with panoramic mountain views. Nestled on the 45-hole golf course, this four-level Adirondack lodge is just a 2-minute walk to Mirror Lake and 5-minutes on foot from the vibrant shops and restaurants of Lake Placid village.
Inside you’ll discover a chef’s dream kitchen — with a six-burner gas range, espresso & coffee station within the butler’s pantry and fully stocked with spices, cookware, all the essentials and beyond. Or grill on our deck while taking in full mountain views. Enjoy meals in the formal dining room, or better yet, on our screened, rustic dining porch.
Camp Karibu offers two elegant living areas, an oversized game room (ping-pong, foosball, board games, cornhole, badminton) and a seasonal enclosed sleeping porch that feels like being in a tree house. Newly installed A/C on the main level & in primary bedroom suite, and a large gas fireplace in the living room.
Five bedrooms and five-and-a-half baths span four floors. Bedroom on the lower level offers driveway access, easier access for guests with mobility challenges. Lodge includes two king suites, one king bedroom & queen bedroom that share a connecting full bath and one bedroom with two twin beds (see layout in pictures). All bedrooms include high-end linens, additional blankets and a variety of pillows to choose from. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash and other necessities are provided, with extras in the linen closet.
Designed for year-round adventure, Camp Karibu comes with sleds and lake floats, a fire-pit overlooking the golf course, radiant floor heat throughout, smart TVs & high-speed WiFi. Camp Karibu is proudly family-friendly, and bring your dog, they’re welcome too.

Wonderful home! It was well appointed, and the location was great-walking distance to downtown and the Olympic Museum.Megan and Scott thought of everything we could’ve needed, and they were a pleasure to deal with.We enjoyed the fire pit, cooked one night on the grill, and played board games, ping pong, and foosball.The only reason I put in 4 stars on the location rating is because VRBO wouldn’t let me proceed with 5 stars in that category for some reason.Everyone slept well and had a great time. Beautiful and comfortable house with the perfect location to town

The house is beautiful inside and out! The Perfect Week!

This was by far the best family vacation in a VRBO or similar type property. The home was perfect for our family and we felt like it was our home away from home. Our family is anchored in Washington, DC, but we spend as much time as we can at Camp Karibu. Megan grew up in Lake Placid, and the Club property is as much of a true home as any we know. We hope you enjoy Camp Karibu as much as us, our twin boys and our perfect pup Fritzy do!

5 BR, 5 1/2 Bath Fully-Renovated Historic Lake Placid Club Cottage on 45-Hole Golf Course. Camp Karibu is one of the few remaining and most spectacular of the original Lake Placid Club cottages. The primary bedroom level includes a main suite with a king bed, separate sitting room, large closet area and full bath with two sinks and a steam shower. Enjoy sweeping, unobstructed mountain views from both the bedroom and sitting room. Also on this level are two bedrooms (one king & one queen), which share a Jack-N-Jill full bath with two sinks and a shower. Also off these 2 bedrooms is a screened sleeping porch with a full bed. Think of the naps with treehouse vibes! This porched is glassed in but unheated during the colder months. Finally on this level is a bedroom with two twin beds and another full bath with a bathtub/shower combo.

The lower level features a king bedroom with a full bath with shower. This bedroom is accessible without climbing stairs, and there are driveways that access both this lower level and the main level of Karibu. There is another full bath on the 4th floor with a bathtub/shower combo and a powder room on the main level. In all, there is at least one bathroom on each of the four levels.

Karibu has main level and lower level living rooms and a game room with a ping pong table. The gourmet kitchen is well equipped and features a butler's pantry with a coffee station. There is also a gas grill on the balcony. The two queen bedrooms have desks to accommodate remote work or gaming. There's also a desk in the sitting room off the kitchen. At Karibu, we provide the highest-speed internet offered, Spectrum cable TV and 3 smart TVs.

Karibu offers the best of all offerings - cross country ski, sled or golf just outside the back door, walk 3 minutes to Mirror Lake, drive15 minutes to Whiteface Mtn. or easily bike to the Lussi and Loggers mountain biking trails on the other side of the course.
