I have never had a guest like this one. It was numerous messages and a phone call before arrival about information in the listing. I was on the phone with her for over an hour listening to how she doesn't get along with her husband and other personal matters. She requested balloons be left for her grandson, and I obliged. I let her check in early at no extra charge. Her first complaint came at 12:30 am, full of racial slurs and complaints about children playing in the common area. I responded that I had never heard these complaints. The second message was replied with "What would you like me to do?" and "I can send the cleaning service over." I got no reply. I was not sent any pictures or videos of her complaints. I have a Wildwood Crest rental license so my condo is inspected yearly. I have a maintenance person who I call for our condo. In return, I received many complaints about the guest continually cigarette smoking, drinking, and marijuana smoking in the common area around children, I understand it is legal in New Jersey but use discretion. They called VRBO and said they were leaving a day early, requesting a full refund. They didn't go, stayed past checkout, and left the place a mess. There was trash, and food in the refrigerator, on the stove, and in the sink. The back door was left open and a screen ripped. They smoked inside the condo and the smell was awful. VRBO was sent pictures and I was told to add a charge to their stay. I am a Premier Host with VRBO and my other reviews support that. I have guests who come yearly to our place. We have a second personal home in the Crest and are around most of the summer.

Yes, our building was built in the 1950s but it has been well maintained. Most buildings at the Jersey shore were built during this time, it’s part of the charm. As far as dust it was mid season at the Jersey shore, and our cleaning team does a full day of turn over cleans and might of missed some dust but it wasn’t dirty. I have it deep cleaned at the beginning and end of the season. Our kitchen cabinets do not have handles. Hmmm. None of this was communicated with me upon arrival, if it was I could have sent the cleaning team back out to address their concerns. As far as the door entry, when they entered the door lock batteries were almost at a 100%. They were replaced the week before their arrival. It was a user issue as every time they entered or left our condo it took a minimum of three or four tries to unlock or lock the door. I have never had a guest have this many issues with our door lock. Many places at the shore use the same system. When you try the lock too many times you do have to wait a period of time before you are able to try again. It simply wasn’t necessary to remove an air conditioner to go in through the window, if it was communicated with me I could have unlocked the door remotely. As soon as I received notification of low battery I sent property management out to change the batteries they never went dead! As a point of reference, new batteries were installed Memorial Day weekend and replaced the week before their arrival. Communication is key unless I know I can’t make it better or correct.
