Family Reunion

We had a very enjoyable time with our family. The location was wonderful - walking distance to most everything. The yard was great for the kids - their favorite part. Check-in was simple. The garbage situation was confusing at first. The kitchens were well stocked except for paper towels and kitchen towels. Wish the kitchen and gathering places were larger and together instead of separate. Some of the beds seemed to have dog hair on the covers and there were some dead bugs in the window sills. All in all it was a great time!

We had a wonderful time at Mama Bear! There was plenty of space for our big family reunion. We loved the big back yard, the games and activities for children. The teenagers and little kids loved the arcade room. We really appreciated the 4 refrigerators! This is a great place if you have a big family. Highly recommend!

Annual Family Reunion

Had our annual family reunion at Bear Lake. We’ve been visiting each July for 20 + yrs and always have a great time. This trip was no exception. Mama Bear is a rustic log cabin with plenty of room for a large family. The fully fenced yard is great! There is a great room to the north end of the house that is large with a massive sectional to gather in and visit or play games. There are two sets of stairs going to the second level, we thought that was overkill until we realized the north wing and south wing second level are not connected, this made it hard to share bathrooms and keep families together.This house is great in some ways for small children. The main floor eating area is packed with games, puzzles, dress up, crayons, books, scissors, markers, all kinds of Lego’s, blocks, etc. because we had teens, young adults and adults the stuff for children was not used and felt a bit cluttered. This house is overstocked, if you forget something I’m sure you’ll find it at the Mama Bear. We would definitely recommend for families with kids 10 and under.

Family Reunion at Bear Lake!

We had an amazing time at the Mama Bear property. Four brothers and their families got together for the first time in a few years for a family reunion and we had a blast! Our kids enjoyed having their own rooms with their cousins, tha backyard was huge with plenty of space to run around and BBQ. It was a great experience and the host was attentive to our needs, responsive and so very kind. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Highly recommend!

Best Family Reunion

We walked into the cabin and were absolutely thrilled and amazed. The online photos, though great, didn’t do it justice. We could eat together in the yard and there were so many things to do, both in the yard and in the cabin itself. The arcade room was a huge hit with our teenage boys. Cabin and property was awesome. We had an age range from 1 to 75 and everyone was entertained. The hot tub was kinda smelly and that was frustrating as we paid a pretty heavy fee for hot tub cleaning. And the fees and taxes were an additional 45% of the cost of the rental. This seemed a bit disingenuous. It's a huge nice cabin. Just tell me how much it costs up front. But overall a fun stay!

All that was expected and more

So many fun things to do in the cabin and yard. Nobody was bored. Fun things for every age. Wonderful big yard with lots of fun things. Only complaint was the wagon was missing a wheel and the cor hole game was broken and mildewed from laying outside. First impression was a little off putting because lots of debris was in front of the door. It would have benefited from a yard blower. But when we unlocked the door we were all excited to be there. Wedding weekend

We had a back yard wedding at mama bear the location is great, you can walk to get snacks/food and to the beach. The yard must not have been used much by previous guests we had to spend extra time cleaning up the porches and outdoor furniture. between the game room, games, toys and outdoor play equipment All the kids had something to do the entire time. The entire yard is fully fenced made the kids playing outside safe. The owners are easy to reach and very accommodating.

Family reunion at Mama Bear Cabin

Our family of 30 people, all ages, had a wonderful time at the Mama Bear Cabin. Our toddler loved the play area and young child toys. The children loved to watch vids in the little play area, and everyone liked playing arcade games in the game room. We all enjoyed the huge grassy back yard full of recreational equipment and shade trees. Beds were comfortable and the 2 kitchens had everything we needed. We also used the grill out back. The outdoor hot tub was roomy, with clean fresh water! The proximity to beaches and hikes was perfect. We could have used a few more towels, but we just kept washing them in the several washing machines and dryers provided. Everyone was amused by the bear decor found throughout the house, fun! All in all, it was the perfect place for our family reunion.

Cozy and fun stay!

Our group thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mama Bear! We had a large group that had singles, kids, and couples. The rooms accomedated us very well and they were super cozy. Lots of fun activities/games for the kids! We were within walking distance of breakfast (Ruca's) and all the food places! There is also water access really close and Bear Lake State Park is only 1.5mile away. Wonderful stay!

Reunion for family fun and Unity

Mama Bear was perfect for the 12 adults and 16 children who were present. Each family had plenty of room for their their own privacy. There were plenty of places for the cousins to interact and take part in activities that were perfect for several age groups. Oldest loved the game room and big tv for playing video games. Tweens also loved playing in the game room and outside when the weather cooperated. Younger children loved the under stairs play area and enjoyed serving pretend food from their restaurant to all in attendance. With the craft supplies supplied, we had many homemade menus crafted and our food options were many😊. Adults enjoyed the games and cards that were there along with those they brought. Early to bedders became late to bedders as we didn’t want to stop our fun times together. A trip to the lake was enjoyed even though it was cloudy. Access to the lake was an easy 5 minute walk

Best family hide away ever

I booked the mama bear cabin to combine my daughter's college graduation with a long family weekend. I thought we would rent a boat and spend most of our time on the lake. Nope- it was still partially frozen. It didn't matter at all. The mama bear cabin had plenty of space and activities to entertain everyone. It had plenty of space for my very large family and some of our friends. We all loved how well stocked the kitchens(2) were with every gadget one might need. It was decorated so cute with bears everywhere, but not overdone.The owners were very helpful and accommodating and check in and out was a breeze. Thank you so much for making my daughters weekend a total success!

10 stars! Amazing cabin and wonderful host

I would give 20 stars if I could! The cabin is so welcoming and has everything you need and more! The location is superb, within walking distance of a beach, and several restaurants and shops. We enjoyed the game room and hanging out in the great room together. The hot tub is amazing and a great fire pit area. We cannot wait to come back!

Fantastic Hidden Gem

Our stay at the Mama Bear cabin was wonderful. It is a great place, and while it was just our little family of 5 it has space and beds for many, many more. Our kids had a great time playing in the backyard, arcade room and singing in the karaoke machine. Janice was a fantastic host, and it is clear she loves this property. She leaves her personal cellphone number posted in a few places and when I sent a text asking if our kids are allowed to play on the neighbor's playground (they aren't, but the playground in the cabin's yard is great) and if there were fire restrictions with the drought (campfires in the fire pit are fine) she called me back and not only answered those questions, but also made sure we had seen the popcorn maker, popcorn and array of seasonings (we had) as well as the snow cone maker and flavorings (we hadn't) and a few other hidden gems in the place. We'll definitely be coming back and bringing more of our extended family with us!

Living the life.

We found this cabin and invited some friends up to join us for the weekend. We just had the best time, there was plenty of room for all of our friends, the extra kitchen is so nice to have. The yard is spectacular, very private and spacious. This cabin is so close to everything in Garden City and many of the restaurants are with in walking distance. The arcade room was such a fun addition and we all had a blast playing some old nostalgic video games. It was cooler but still the beach is really close. All the rooms are themed and so well decorated. All in all it was a blast. And we are looking to re-book for next year for a bigger family event.

Great Family Reunion Place

Our family's stay at the Mama Bear Lodge was prefect. There was so much to do we only left the cabin once to the state park to rent equipment. The beach that was walking distance from the cabin was peaceful and not crowded. The arcade had a great variety of games for all ages. The Frisbee Golf, batting machine and play ground were in use constantly. We walked to get raspberry malts. The two kitchens were well equipped and we loved the 4 refrigerators. The beds were comfortable, plenty of towels and two laundry rooms to accommodate our needs. The large gathering room was perfect. The patio and grills were great. I would definitely have another family reunion at the Mama Bear Cabin. Also, the owner responded immediately every time I had a question. She was very helpful and accommodating.

I bought Mama Bear Cabin in the fall of 2020 and began doubling it in size. It was originally 2300 sq feet with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. I have over 50 in my immediate family so I decided to expand into the attached two car garage and add an upstairs. Additional bedrooms were added in the main cabin as well by rearranging the floor plan to better accommodate a large group.

Two years later Mama Bear Cabin has more than doubled in size with 11 sleeping areas, (10 bedrooms plus a common area with 2 narrow twin beds, 6 bathrooms, 3 kitchen preparation areas, 3 laundry areas, a main gathering area for eating, playing games and having time together.) There is an ARCADE room plus a Great Room for large groups mingling, visiting and relaxing together. It is designed with you in mind...families needing areas to eat together, play together, spaces to be alone when needed, a work station for those working from home with free internet access and many opportunities to have time making memories together.
