Great property and beautiful old farmhouse! The amenities were perfect for our stay, we had everything that we needed. Since we visited in August, the humidity was high and the AC unit was a life saver in early 1900’s farmhouse. Communications with the owners were smooth and they helpful with any questions we had. Great stay and we would definitely book again!

We had a wonderful time! It was close to the towns of Davis and Thomas. They are very charming little towns. There are additional places somewhat close too. The mountain roads in the area feel comfortable to travel for use height scared individuals The property trail up the mountain was worth the trip!!! The fire pit up there is not used however. The yard was a wonderful place to lay a blanket and stare at the stars! They were amazing The farmhouse was like stepping back in time with a few new features. Worth the money and the travel time!

Very nice old farmhouse with nice updates. Once we figured out how to keep the wood burning stove working to keep it warm we were comfortably warm the rest of the time. We liked the location for dark skies for a telescope at night and close to trails for hiking.

Lovely rustic country farmhouse

This quaint but well-equipped farmhouse was a delight to experience for our week’s stay. We wanted quiet and distance from city life and got exactly that. Close to many small towns and great hikes too.

This little historic farmhouse is in such a lovely setting! It is surrounded by peaceful scenery in all directions. The wood stove was wonderful and kept the house warm and cozy. The host responded quickly when we had no hot water and was able to turn on the hot water heater remotely. Apparently there was a power outage before our arrival.
The house at night. The sky was clear and filled with stars our first night and we enjoyed some stargazing.

We loved this Pet friendly, rustic restored farmhouse set in the mountains of west virginia. So quiet and peaceful. Very well appointed with the modern convieneces of home: lovely tiled shower with plenty of hot water. Well equipped kitchen with everything you need to prepare a great meal. We enjoyed relaxing and reading a couple of books from the bookshelf on one rainy day and played scrabble from the selection of games available. The TV was set up with prime movies and Netflix, and we streamed music from the Bluetooth speaker. We loved sitting on the back porch In the morning, listening to the sounds of nature and watching a.couple deer feed at the apple tree. Close proximity to dolly sods, blackwater falls, cannan valley. Several great places to eat. We recommend the Ish Kitchen at the Billy Motel. Delicious global food, deserts and drinks. Reasonably priced. The purple fiddle and Happy and More in Thomas by the river. Cannan Valley Barbecue was great as well. The Harper Place is wonderful for just relaxing or adventure.

Lovely rural setting

My family loved staying at the Harper Place. We used the fire pits most evenings and walked on the trails on the property. The farmhouse was conveniently located close to Blackwater Falls, Canaan Valley, and Seneca Rocks. We hope to visit again and go visit Dolly Sods.

Wonderful, Relaxing Gals Getaway!

This farmhouse is the perfect place to slow down, relax, and soak up natural beauty. We hiked 9 miles at Dolly Sods, had another great hike at nearby Canaan Valley, drank wine on the porch, roasted s’mores, napped in the sun, and took long walks on the property. It could not have been more perfect! Thanks for a great getaway!!

Beautiful and Relaxing

My husband and I stayed at the house for a week and loved everything about it. The property is so beautiful, and the house has everything you need for a comfortable stay. We loved sitting by the wood stove, eating diner on the side porch, and having coffee on the front porch. The roads were so beautiful and winding to get there, and we saw lots of wildlife. We hope to make it back soon!

Very enjoyable stay at the Harper House. Wonderful hundred year old farm house with tons of charm. Even our one rainy day was great as we spent it lounging on the covered porch, reading and just enjoying the countryside. Thank you for being pet friendly as our dog loved exploring the area with us as well. We had our home base here while spending our days hiking all the various surrounding national forests, wilderness, and parks. A thoroughly enjoyable autumn week in the mountains. Thank you for sharing your property with us!

Beautiful property combining the best of old and new

We were looking for a place that we and our teenage boys could unplug -- literally and figuratively -- for a few days and enjoy outdoor activities. The house and property exceeded our expectations for comfort and peacefulness. We enjoyed family game nights on the back porch and a fire in the woodstove on a chillier night. Thank you for the lovely getaway!

Perfect modernized farm house!

Perfect home with amazing views! We enjoyed every part of our stay and would love to come back someday. We explored the nearby town and were blown away by Hellbenders Burritos! What a great little spot with delicious food. We took the kids to Canaan Valley for snow tubing and then did a one day drive to Snowshoe for horseback riding. The home had everything needed for our stay. It was the cutest modernized farm house, with exceptional attention to every detail to keep the homes history. Thanks for letting my family be your guests for an extended weekend stay!

Lovely views

The property itself was wonderful. There are private trails and spectacular views everywhere you look. Unfortunately, the house was not cleaned prior to my stay, so I had to spend a couple of hours doing that myself on my first day there. The hosts seem like very nice people and this is not a reflection on them personally, but my experience with the cleanliness of the house differed significantly from the other reviews and I wanted to share my experience.

Fall getaway

We spend Thanksgiving at the farmhouse. The kitchen is very well equipped, so we had a lovely Thanksgiving Dinner. We made great use of the wood-burning stove in the house since it got a bit cold at night. The farmhouse is very close to some great hiking and even has a few short trails on the property as well. We greatly enjoyed our stay. It was a lovely and relaxing long weekend.

I hope to get back

This was great place to get away. You could stay there and not need anything or take a short trip to the Davis shops, Blackwater Falls, or any other many trails. The house had everything you need, kitchen was nice and big to cook, and all the living areas were comfy. We saw a lot of wildlife. The crab apples would fall during the day with the squirrels and chipmunks running around, then we would have a bunch of deer in early evening, and then possums and raccoons late evening. Eventually the deer would come back after midnight for more apples. We tried to get to Big Rock Point but two trees had fallen across the trail, one from each direction and we saw very big bear scat the higher we got. It started out dry and was very fresh when we hit the trees so we felt it was time to turnaround because he was probably hanging out on the other side somewhere. This was very far from the house, about 600 feet up in elevation and at least half mile or more. Most probably don’t go that far and was very far from the upper campfire and overlook. It was an awesome place and hope to get back at some point. Thank you!
