Welcome to Bearfoot Retreat where you can enjoy the comforts of home while visiting the Great Smoky Mountains of western North Carolina.
We recently opened up our cabin to being dog-friendly. We do have weight limits and breed restrictions (requirement of our insurance). We will require additional information from guests bringing their furry friend.
• Great WiFi (25 Mbps max speed, no data caps, no throttling) – capable of accommodating remote work
• Each bedroom (3) features a king size bed and floating nightstands with outlets/plugs
• Basement features a separate bathroom with bunk beds
• Less than 10 minutes from downtown Franklin – great for families, couples, or getaways with friends.
• Beautiful view of the mountains from the main living space. Rocking chair back porch and enjoy the beauty of Western NC. For cold evenings, cozy up indoors on the large leather couches and fire up the gas fireplace.
• Fully stocked kitchen with butcher’s block and new appliances. Large gas grill on back deck. BYOB/F (bring your own food and beverage)
• Many great restaurants in Franklin (see our guidebook for recommendations)
• Private circular drive – basement is accessible from the driveway for a terrace level entrance.
Activities:
• Many great activities right here in Franklin: Gem Capital of the World, local breweries, abundance of hiking, waterfalls, trails, tubing/kayaking, fishing
Plenty of fun at the cabin:
Relax on the huge back porch overlooking the mountain range or in the 6-person hot tub or enjoy Dish satellite TV on our 55” Roku Smart QLED TV. Or log in to you Netflix, Hulu or other streaming service.
Ping pong table and foosball table in basement
Personal library of books and games
Digital piano for those musical folks
Fire pit
Raised bed gardens available for guests to use and enjoy. Feel free to use herbs or cut flowers when in season. Many large butterfly bushes and it is a haven for birds, butterflies, and other wildlife.
Nearby off-property creek that you can hear after a decent rain
45 minutes to Highlands and what a view from either direction you take
Perfect day trip to Biltmore and the many breweries of Asheville
Our goal is to make this cabin your home away from home. We’ve included hair dryers, washers, corkscrews, cookware, and much more.
We hope you enjoy our hand-crafted table and bench using wood from our family farm.
Cell phone service is spotty (1-2 bars depending on provider).
We provide linens and a starter pack of consumables (toilet paper, paper towels, detergent, shampoo, body wash, and trash can liners).
The cabin is approximately 8 minutes off Georgia Road (Highway 441). 4WD is NOT required; however, please note that roughly 0.4 miles of the road leading to the cabin is gently sloped hard-packed gravel/dirt road with exception of the last 50 feet which starts to climb the mountain. The road then transitions to asphalt.
As with many short-term stays in this area, there is no on-site trash collection. Due to some furry friends that roam the woods, we ask that you dispose of your trash/recyclables at the nearest Macon County trash and recycling center. We provide addresses for several centers in the house manual. The nearest location is 2877 Addington Bridge Road, Otto, NC 28734 (5.1 miles from the house and on the way out of town).
All renters and their guests of Bearfoot Retreat agree to release the property and the owners from any and all liability associated with any personal loss or injury occurring at or near the above property.
Note: We have 2 exterior cameras to help us monitor deliveries and prevent any unwanted guests at our cabin. These cameras face the driveway entrance and exit and do not monitor any of the amenity areas.
