Come enjoy the beauty of "Yellowhammer Hill" on Smith Lake! Located conveniently near Cullman, this house is only minutes from the interstate. This beautiful home features 4 bedrooms/ 2.5 baths in the main house and 1 BR and 1 BA in the garage apartment. It sleeps 17 in beds. Maximum occupancy: 17.
The dining room seats 8 and 6 more can be seated in other dining areas.

Amenities: Swimming Pool (depth of 5' and shallow end is about 3') , paddle board, Lily Pad floatation device, cornhole game, Smart TV, 80 inch television downstairs and Ms. PacMan video game. Outdoor ping pong table, lawn darts game, badminton set, and corn hole. There are also several board games.

The dock features 4 adirondack chairs and a table and 2 chairs. There is no electricity at the dock, however there is solar power for lights and the lift. You will have use of 1 boat slip and 1 PWC port. The covered boat slip measures 10x22 and has a lift.

Please be aware that the house is up on the hill and requires walking down a gravel drive to the dock. A golf cart can get you most of the way down but there is still a part of the drive to walk down/up.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE PRIMARY RENTER MUST MEET THE AGE REQUIREMENT OF 25 YEARS OF AGE.

Great stay for a big family

Great stay for a big family! Lots to do. Only down fall is the hill to the lake is steep so it’s a pain going back and forth to the house, other than that, definitely recommend!!

Yellow Hammer Hill

There was plenty of room for our family. Some brought life jackets and boogie boards and really enjoyed the lake. Some of us swam in the pool and really enjoyed it, too. There were lots of pool toys, and it was spacious for lots of swimmers. The grandkids enjoyed the arcade game, ping pong, corn hole, and board games, and watching movies together. The kitchen was well stocked with a spacious frig. It had easy access to I65 and was easy to find. Thank you for a nice home for our family to gather!

Pictures make it look better

We got there and there were some things wrong, We called the property manager. They came out and fixed it which they were great. The pictures that it looks much newer and better than it is it’s a little worn down, worn out a lot of wasps all over the place which one of our grandchildren got stung. The dock had wasps all over which we had to watch out for, we used it, but had to be very, very careful. Woke up to a snake on the deck one morning when we were gonna go swimming so we had to get it off the deck. before the price we paid it should’ve been much better and much more cleaned up. If we had paid less, I wouldn’t expect more but for a premium price I would’ve expected more.

We are truly disappointed to see this review, especially as our team was in close communication with the guest throughout their stay and responded promptly to every concern. We even welcomed their children to our family farm to enjoy horseback riding, hoping to make their trip extra special. From our perspective, they seemed to have a wonderful vacation, so it is unfortunate to receive this feedback. Our cleaning staff takes great pride in their work, and the property was inspected prior to the guest’s arrival to ensure it was ready. As with any home in a natural, wooded setting, occasional outdoor pests such as wasps are unavoidable, but we do our best to address them quickly if they arise. This is one of our most popular properties, and families come back year after year.

Great house.

We stayed here to be closer to the venue my son was getting married at. The house itself is massive, but it said 4baths and its really only 3.5. You have 2 showers in 1 bathroom which was akward, but workable so its still 1 bathroom. The decks need some work for sure. We loved the golf cart, but didnt go down to the dock because its quite the treck down there. If you're not physically fit, Id say dont try it. The inside is beautifully decorated and the view is amazing. All in all we had a great time and more than enough room. The owners could really make this place a venue for small intimate weddings. With more upkeep outside it would be perfect! For the price is was worth it and the location is fabulous. We would recommend this place and would rent it again.

Misleading Photos Terribly Dirty & Rude Owners

Misleading Photos! Inaccurate Descriptions! This is the kind of VRBO stay that you hope not to have. READ THIS BEFORE BOOKING YOUR TRIP! We had four families drive across the country to meet here for a week of fun and family reuniting. We were all very excited when we first saw the photos for this listing and we thought it would be the perfect place for our gathering for a week. So we were very surprised upon arrival to find the place in total disarray. The pool area was a mess, The pool deck had not been swept in weeks, the pool water was dirty and the pool bottom was full of sand and hadn’t been vacuumed. The outdoor tables were not wiped the outdoor furniture was full of bugs & the downstairs deck area was covered in dead bugs, stains and pools of dirty water. We then entered the home to find that it had also not been swept, wiped, cleaned or mopped. The toilet paper wasn’t even replenished nor were the soap receptacles. There were dirty towels stuffed in the tops of closets and sinks had not been wiped. The Grill had not been cleaned in what looked like a decade, The floors were filthy not even swept and definitely not mopped and the dishes had a rancid smell. We were extremely disappointed in the cleanliness of this home so I contacted the manager right away. The manager then proceeded to tell me that the cleaning crew had cleaned for five hours even though I sent her pictures of evidence of all of these things even the tables had not been wiped. She then proceeded to try to make me feel like the bad guy by telling me that I was upset about some “crumbs” when it was clearly more than that, nearly every single room was extremely dirty. Me and my family spent three hours cleaning the first night we arrived and I demanded that we have our cleaning fee back and they did give us the cleaning fee refund, however, all the while still denying that there was an issue. The windows of this house are all smudged and nasty as well as the walls and doors, the outside is in need of pressure washing there are dead bugs laying everywhere on the windows on the deck and on the downstairs deck. We also had to clean the pool ourselves because our kids did not want to swim with all of the dead bugs. Manager promised us that a pool maintenance man was coming on Tuesday & he did come however he did not vacuum the pool!! All he did was clean out the filter and left. Do not waste your hard earned money on this misleading house!

Please do not make your decision on this review alone. We at Smith Lake Rentals manage this property and think the guest came in with very high expectations which we have found are sometimes impossible to meet. Couple of things: 1) bugs at the lake constant. The owner has pest control but they will be outside around the pool and on the dock. You knock down a spider web and it is back in an hour. We have cleaning standards that the cleaners who clean there makes sure they meets. She has been cleaning for us for 5 years and I assure you the house was not as dirty as described. The storms and bugs at the lake will get some leaf trash and bugs in the water. Pool companies come once a week. I am not sure what was expected here but any pool at this lake cannot be kept 100% all the time. I also do not know why she says the pictures are deceptive. Again, do not rely on this review exclusively, it is also deceptive.

House and pool were good. House is much too high of a climb for all except people in excellent shap

Excellent place to stay. House is too high above the lake to be useable even using the golf cart part of the way. Two trips down and up and you are done for the day. House was good and pool saved the day .

Girls Getaway

We had a wonderful time. The house, pool, and lake were beautiful with all the amenities. It was very nice to have the golf cart to drive down to the lake area. The dock was beautiful with lots of space. We had a wonderful time in the pool and on the deck area. We had a couple of issues with the pool and the garbage which were corrected quickly by the property manager. We only had 2 other issues which would be of benefit to the next guests. We did not realize there were 2 other beds and full bath above the garage until the next to last day. We could have used the extra space. The biggest issue was the road leading down to the lake. The GPS doesn’t show the exact place to turn in the driveway and actually shows it to be slightly past the actual gate. It might be good to have a sign or a chain across the road to prevent people from missing it. Or at least to warn them of the severe ruts on the gravel portion. We had 2 people have trouble turning around and coming back to the entrance due to the deep ruts. We had one car actually sustain some damage due to this. Overall, very nice place and would definitely come back to this lovely property.

Beautiful Property!

Our family stayed at Yellowhammer for Thanksgiving. We were blown away at the property and the views. The home has aged a little but all of the appliances and electronics are brand new and top notch! There is plenty of space inside and out which worked very well for our large and loud group. However, there are a lot of stairs so for the toddlers and the grandparents it was not ideal. The dock is quite a ways down from the property and is not easily accessible but once you get there it makes a great spot for fishing, relaxing, and swimming/boating in the warmer months. The property does have a golf cart which is needed to get down to the dock. Andrea communicated with us very well and professionally. Overall, it is a nice place and we had a wonderful time.
