Guests enjoy full private access to the property, with accommodations for up to 22 people, daily housekeeping, and breakfast included. For larger celebrations, our lush tropical grounds can comfortably host over 100 guests, making it a perfect setting for milestone events surrounded by lush nature, with quick access to town.

Guest Access:
Calamocha is a fully-fenced, private resort located off a dirt road in the heart of Manzanillo, best accessed by a 4WD or equivalent vehicle (quad, motorbike, jeep, etc.) Private parking is available on the property, and we are happy to arrange pick-up and drop-off services whenever you need. In addition, we can assist in or arrange transport from San Jose to Manzanillo on the Nicoya Peninsula.

Nestled within a serene 30-hectare (74-acre) expanse of untouched jungle, the resort provides an oasis of tranquility and blissful solitude, a refreshing contrast to the bustling beaches further south. Enveloped by a rich array of wildlife and lulled by the gentle sounds of the jungle, Calamocha fosters a profound bond with nature, making it the perfect setting for a yoga retreat, a rejuvenating family holiday, or an enchanting romantic escape. Embark on a leisurely 1km stroll through the lush jungle or a brief 3-minute quad ride along the road, and you'll discover the unspoiled beauty of Playa Manzanillo beach. Additionally, a local supermarket (Super Campos) and a charming soda (Atardecer Dorado) are conveniently located nearby, just a short 2km drive away.

Getting Around:
To reach Manzanillo from San Jose, you can choose between land or air travel. The fastest route involves a 20-minute flight to Tambor (from SJO or Liberia), followed by a 40-minute taxi ride to Calamocha.

We recommend renting a car, ATV, or bike, ideally 4x4 for your stay.

BY AIR
* From San Jose International Airport (SJO), board a 20-minute regional flight with Sansa Airlines or Costa Rican Green Airways to Tambor Airport (TMU).
* We can coordinate a taxi or shuttle pick-up from Tambor (around $60) or arrange a rental car from Budget (advance reservation recommended).
* Calamocha is a 40-minute drive from Tambor Airport.

BY LAND

If you rent a car from Liberia or San Jose Airport, the drive will be about 5 hours. Otherwise:

Shuttle
* Both private and public shuttles are available from San Jose to Calamocha, costing approximately $250 and $50, respectively.
* The journey takes about 7 hours, with public shuttles departing twice daily (excluding holidays) and private shuttles scheduled upon request to fit your itinerary.

Bus
* A public bus, also departing twice daily (excluding holidays), connects San Jose to the Nicoya Peninsula.
* The 7-hour journey includes an hour-long ferry ride from the mainland to the peninsula.
* Departing from Terminal 7-10, a ticket costs $12, and the bus will drop you off at Playa Hermosa.
* From there, a 10-minute taxi ride (which we can arrange) will bring you to Calamocha.

Other Things to Note:
Although we embrace an open air concept at Calamocha, all windows and doors of our lodges can be closed for complete privacy. Please note that Check-in form & ID upload are required prior to stay.
