A block once devoted to agriculture, today ensconced within the multicultural vibe of downtown. A modern-yet-historic, industrial-while-inviting, convenient-but-secluded (as cities go) kind of place.

When it comes to parking, 35 Carolina Lane could just as easily be name Easy Street: parking here is simple! And that’s exactly how it should be, when you’re on vacation.

You don’t need a car to enjoy downtown Asheville (our walk score: 93!), but if you bring one, here are your options:

Additional Parking Options in Parking Lots & Decks: Both the City of Asheville and Buncombe County operate safe, reliable and inexpensive parking decks. The first hour is free and the full-day rate is just $20, so feel free to leave your vehicle overnight. There are several parking decks, as well as a few paid parking lots – pay from an app, or by space / cash at the kiosk box (ask us for more details, if you need them) – within walking distance of 35 Carolina Lane on Rankin Ave; we’ll send all the details with your booking confirmation.

On-Street Parking: While the road just in front of the loft is a loading zone, shimmy just a few feet toward W. Walnut and you can find on-street parking (per availability). Additionally, there are more than 700 on-street metered parking spaces in downtown Asheville. All meters are for short-term parking (two hours or less, as marked), at a cost of $1.50 per hour. On-street metered parking is free on holidays, Sundays, and every day after 6 pm.

Loading Zones: If you’re arriving via taxi, Uber, or Lyft, feel free to unload in one of Asheville’s dedicated loading zones, limited to 30 minutes (or less, as marked).

This is an urban setting within sight and sound of busy bars, restaurants, breweries and music venues. If you are looking for a completely quiet location at all hours, this may not be a perfect fit for you. Carolina Lane is a one way alley, with very little available parking. There are is a 30 minute loading zone Monday -Friday, 9am-5pm parking spaces within 25 feet of the entrance to the loft. Vehicles should not be parked in a way that prohibit thru-traffic.

Came for the Biltmore but fell in love with the city of Ashville

The property was great and the location was very convenient to various shops, dinning, and entertainment. It took us a minute to find the designated parking place due to part of the road washing away from the storms but once we found it, we had no problems at all. I have saved the information because I would definitely stay here again.

Good spot in the heart of asheville

Walk everywhere downtown Asheville from this lost. Clean, cool style, good location … we did not notice any noise at night, but were warned it’s possible … sound machines provided in each bedroom did their jobs.

Cool loft- great location

Walked to Harrah’s Center for a concert. Stopped by a nice restaurant on the way and a cute bar afterwards- all within a 5 minute walk. Parking was a little confusing as was finding the place- but is was totally worth it!

Fun trip with my girls - 3 generations

The condo is super cute, clean, great location in terms of the downtown access, and full of little amenities, like ear plugs, night eye shades, toiletries, bottle of wine, shop local card, etc. The locale is shady...at night I was awakened by homeless folks going through the trash cans outside, standing in the alleyway by day, and loitering at the corner just watching. You can only communicate with property management by email, and it is not answered for hours, if at all. Claw foot tub is adorable and decorations are so cute, but definitely need a grab bar for getting in and out. Parking is a pain, especially if you have more than one car. But if decor and cleanliness and downtown access are the most important to you, you have a super cute winner!!!!

Great location and beautiful property

The loft is in the perfect location for walking around Asheville. Everything is within a few minutes walk. The loft is comfortable and stylish and has everything you need. We really enjoyed our stay. I will say that there is, as the listing acknowledges, some serious noise. Several times an hour between 9am and 11pm people walk down the alley talking very loudly and it sounds like they're standing next to you. Also, one weekday morning (maybe Tuesdays?) is trash day and at 6am you will absolutely hear it. The hosts have very thoughtfully provided earplugs and white noise machines in both bedroom areas. I think if you have ever lived in a city you'll be fine and will consider the location/quality of the property a fair trade off for the noise, but definitely go in knowing that it will be loud. We would stay here again happily.

Though far from Santa Fe and a different climate, I arrived in Asheville in the early 90’s to practice Chinese Medicine and felt some of the same elements at play. Asheville was not well known, but you could feel the energy building and the mixture of art, landscape, environment, history and community all coming together. It reminded me of my ‘early days’ in Santa Fe. One of my closest friends was Andy Brokmeyer, who I told for several years that he needed to come to Asheville, as it was a dynamic and exciting place. We were also avid kayakers, and Asheville has been a Mecca for kayaking since the early days of the sport so I knew I could lure him out with the promise of all the great rivers in the area.

He came out ‘for a visit’ and hasn’t left. That was 16 years ago.
Asheville has grown into the most happening place in the region, far beyond my expectations, and has sustained an authentic, community oriented and dynamic quality. Like my dad used to say about few places, it has ‘cultural energy’.

Though both Andy and I had done some residential real estate investment and development, Lexington Ave/Carolina Lane was our first move into the commercial side. It was an old building, greatly in need of repair, and was a bit removed from the core downtown commercial traffic. We scraped together what we could and fixed it up, with an eye towards something special in the future.

Now, many years later, North Lexington Ave area is hopping, with restaurants, breweries, bars, tea houses, coffee shops, galleries and wonderful, diverse retail shops right out the door.

And Carolina has been transformed into a blend of funky, hip, and industrial intertwined with lush, upscale design. A mix of style and comfort that is unique and authentically Asheville.
