Oceanfront duplex with beautiful sunset views

Top Notch West is a wonderfully furnished and fully equipped oceanfront duplex (West side). Located just steps from the beautiful sandy beaches and crystal clear waters of Emerald Isle, dolphins are frequently seen from this home. This lovely home comfortably sleeps 11 guests and is equipped with free wifi, cable, and TVs in all bedrooms.

This spacious duplex has ample room to spread out in the well appointed kitchen and open living/dining room space. The two dining tables seat 12 with additional bar seating for four. Also on this level is a full bathroom and a large soundfront bedroom with a twin and queen bed. Three bedrooms are on the second floor - 1 oceanfront king master suite and 1 oceanfront queen, both with deck access and 1 soundfront bedroom with 2 twin beds). The entire third floor is an oceanfront master suite with private deck.

A private, spray off area and outdoor shower (with hot & cold water) make clean-up easy. There is an outdoor charcoal grill with picnic table seating.

Stayed at Top Notch-West, early June 2026. It had a lot of great features. A number of items have room for improvement.Things we liked:Great location, views and beach access/accessories.Newer appliances.Cheerfully decorated, spacious rooms with very comfortable mattresses.Quick cooling HVAC. Items for correction:Hall light near kitchen out.Two deck high-chairs had broken seats, unusable.Electrical A/C outlet in dining area had broken cover, partially exposing internals.A/C vent cover in 2nd floor hallway ceiling, hanging loose.2nd floor Master Bath: window blind will not close, preventing privacy. Doorknob and toilet paper holder both loose.Only one bed blanket available for 7 beds.3rd floor bath towel rack completely loose. It’s unfortunate that there were so many deficiencies in an otherwise high-end rental. I am sure, as do other renters, we struggle with reporting certain issues while in-residence because then we become tied to a repairman’s schedule.

Pros:We loved the atmosphere of the rooms between the natural light and the beautiful blue walls. The location was perfect, quiet and relaxing. Comfortable beds, great shower water pressure and drainage. Relatively close to resturaunts, coffee shops, ect. Opportunities for improvement:Bathroom on 3rd floor toilet doesn't flush properly Battery in the kitchen clock is deadBaseboards, all white doors, and the stair banisters were filthy with obvious dirt marks and fingerprints. Bathroom on main living area was found to be leaking above trash cans outside under the car port.Nails on all the decks and walkway to the beach have several nail heads sticking up.04/16/26: A suprise visit from property manager shouting at our back deck, which was akward and felt a little invasive. A simple message on VRBO would have been sufficient. Both lamps in the room with the king size bed are burnt out. The bathroom (king bed room) hand towel rack kept falling off the wall. One of the kitchen stools is wobbly. Several of the screws holding it together needs to be tightened. My very least favorite thing was when my dog found a mystery pill on the kitchen floor. This leads me to believe even further that the place wasn't cleaned properly before our arrival, especially when renters are being charged 300 for it. Unfortunately, we would be reluctant to rent this place again just based on the simple cleanliness level and potential safety concerns surrounding the home and property.

Thank you for this helpful feedback. I have reached out to our local handyman and cleaners to address the issues raised. I did also speak to him regarding the visit you had mentioned. He was dropping off a new grill for the other side of the duplex. Since he saw someone outside on the deck, he decided to say hi. I'm sorry if this alarmed you in any way. We typically do give guests a heads up if we plan to make a stop at the property for any reason. Again, I am sorry this was your experience. If there are any concerns that come up during your visit, please do not hesitate to reach out as we would like to address them during your visit so you can have a comfortable stay.

This home is in the perfect location to enjoy the beach and peaceful views of the ocean (pictures are accurate). Amy accommodated our last minute reservation and provided helpful, prompt communication. The home was clean and had everything we needed. There was nobody staying next door so it was especially quiet - which we loved. We definitely look forward to visiting again and recommend this home to others.

Last Minute Trip - Top Notch!

Our last minute vacation at Top Notch West was wonderful! Our host, Amy, was extremely responsive before. during, and after booking. The house was in a great location, well equipped, spacious, and was perfect for our family of 5 and 2 dogs (room for much more). The views from all balconies were amazing, the spaces well maintained, and new/plentiful beach chairs a plus (even though we didn't use them- the dogs kept us on our feet)! We enjoyed the house thoroughly and will be back for sure!

AMAZING!!!

Excellent house, location and more!

We had five couples for my stepmoms 60th birthday weekend and we couldn’t have picked a better house! It was clean and had everything you needed, including outdoor furniture and beach chairs! The kitchen was well stocked and plenty of room for 10 people (we’ve could have had more). Amy was very responsive to questions and excellent check-in/check-out instructions! We are hoping to do a reunion weekend and everyone voted we go back to this house again!

Christmas at the Besch

We were very impressed with the property and the responsiveness when we had questions. It is a lovely light and bright duplex that has spaces galore! It is well stocked and very clean. We brought our dogs and found the property perfect for sharing this experience with the pups. We will definitely plan to return - cant recommend this highly enough!

Perfect for Families

We stayed in EI for my daughter's wedding and wanted an oceanfront home for the whole family. It was larger enough for us all to be together, but still have some privacy. The host responded promptly to all of our questions. Everything we needed was there, including some beach chairs. The kitchen is very stocked. The home was beautiful and the view was amazing!

Just Perfect!

My cousins and I rented the property for a weekend to celebrate my aunt’s wedding. The property was beautiful and the beach was amazing. So many nice touches. They had every pan/utensil that we needed to cook our own meals. Plenty of towels and the place was very clean. There were dolphins right off the beach as soon as we arrived. The sunset over the pier was stunning. Nothing but great things to say about this property!

Amazing stay

5 out of 5 starts on everything. The house is lovely and has everything, very clean and lots of room to spread out. The host allowed us to check in early and check out later which was very convenient and gave us a chance to relax and do a long walk in the beach before we left. Fiat time on Emerarld Isle (typically staying up the road at the Atlantic) and it’s a very nice area with hikes along the beach. While we visited during the off season, there were very few people of the beach, we basically had miles of a private beach. Really enjoyed every bit of our stay and will definitely be back next year!

Spacious oceanfront duplex for the whole family

We loved staying here- there were about 11 of us, and we enjoyed how large the kitchen/dining area was. Private ramp to the beach was very convenient. Beautiful decks throughout- lots of stairs, if that’s a concern for mobility. The home could use a freshening up- new pillows, some minor home repairs, wear and tear on furniture and upholstery. Other than that it was a perfect stay for a fall weekend on Emerald Isle!
