Thanks for your kind words Amanda. I am glad you brought up these issues: inside cameras and heat unevenly distributed. As a host, it is my responsibility to make sure my guests are safe. Since guests have keyless access to the property, it is extremely important for me to verify the identity of persons entering. Interior cameras are for your protection. Have you ever entered a property and wondered if anybody is already there? You don’t have to worry about that at this property. I turn the interior cameras off when guests arrive and check in and; Furthermore, since guests have the code to the security system, they have the ability to verify that the camera is off. They can even just unplug the camera. Here are examples of how cameras keep guests safe. On one occasion a guest indicated she was booking to have a nice quiet evening with her boyfriend. Subsequently, the persons that showed up was not the guest that booked. Instead, 4 women with tons of food, suitcases, mirrors and other supplies entered. When they entered I noticed that the person that booked was not one of them. I called the person that booked and she verified it was not her. They actually worked with her and got her code somehow. So I had an emergency, I had to get the intruders out. What if they had harmed the guest that actually booked? The cameras are turned off once I verify that the right guests have arrived. Here is another example: Did you know scammers make fake profiles and actually trick people into paying them to stay in short term rentals they don’t manage. Well, that happened too. Two people showed up at the property, they put in a code that did not work. I saw them on the cameras, and actually talked to them. They told me they had booked my property and actually paid somebody over the internet to stay there. Bottom line: They were scammed, cameras alerted me and I communicated the bad news to them. So you see, cameras make things safer. Again, I have safety protocols in place. I hope guests can appreciate that. In regards to heat. I recently had the attic insulated, that insulation is working very well. Normally, in the winter it is not an issue, however, the weather has been really unpredictable. We have been experiencing some cold days, but mostly fall-like days even now in December, but the temperature is set for winter. The heat is set for December, which is usually anywhere from 0 to 30 degrees around this time. This is very unusual weather. The solution is to force the heat to the lower level and close the vents upstairs and make sure the vents down stairs are open. I also use very light linens on the beds for comfort. All but one room has ceiling fans and cracking the window does help. So I apologize for the heat situation. I always want guests to feel comfortable.
