We have truly enjoyed ourselves at the Hale Romantik. Kirsten was a very responsive and understanding host, the home is lovely, the views of awesome, the daily sunset is fantastic, and the location is quiet and welcoming.. We had a few issues when we first arrived and let our host know. She did not hesitate to resolve the issues immediately. We always appreciate this in a host. We'll certainly return to relax when we can. Mahalo Kirsten!
Aloha Esther & Christopher,
I'm glad you enjoyed your stay at Hale Romantik'. Mahalo for your suggestions on improvements. I will be working on them. I look forward to your next visit!

Aloha in Miloli'i
First, let me say that we will be back to this VRBO in the future. This is a place to relax! It is relatively remote, so don't plan to rush out for dinner or breakfast at a local cafe or restaurant, there aren't any. But, we were greeted on our first morning with a large pod of spinner dolphins frolicking 40 feet from the lanai (which by the way is spacious and the best part of the home). Coming from either Hilo or Kona, stop at Safeway and get provisions. The house is well stocked for preparing and cooking just about anything. Prepare to relax here! The lanai is so nice there is never a reason to turn on the TV. One note, there is a live-in neighbor to the south whose house is about 20 feet away. They're friendly, just be cognizant that they are there. Nights are super quiet and such low light pollution that you can take pictures of the stars with your mobile phone. You should be aware that the drive to/from the house up to Hwy 11 takes 10-15 minutes. The house has a classic design, such that, with all the windows open the cross breeze through the house is wonderful. The roll down shades provide enough privacy. On that subject it needs to be noted that the bedrooms (2) share a common ceiling, which is to say the separation wall ends at 8 feet and is open above that to peak of the roof, so there is no sound privacy between the rooms. My wife and I were there alone so no problem. It's not bad if you have guests staying over for a night.
The home is so well equipped that you don't need snorkel equipment, boogie boards, beach towels, or kayaks, it's all there. And there is an outdoor spigot for washing off. We also enjoyed the lower patio that brings you closer to the shoreline. There is great hiking on lava fields just 100 yards south of the house. Make friends with the locals that fish there and you may get some fresh fish delivered to your door for $10. But know your fish, some reef fish you don't want to eat. We've been coming to the Big Island since 2002 and this was without question the most relaxed it has ever been.
Also, any issues or questions and the property manager responds almost immediately. Great communication.
As I said, we'll be back!
Mahalo Jeff for the nice review! I'm so glad the dolphins welcomed you to the neighborhood and you enjoyed my home! I look forward to your next visit!

Awesome 4th of July
Our stay at Hale Romantik' was an awesome experience. From the moment we opened the door, the home was emaculant, there was alot of room, and most importantly, our dogs were very comfortable. It was more then we expected. We fished from the cliff everyday and a couple of nights. The best staycation we've been on in a long time. Mahalo nui loa! We definitely will be coming back to Hale Romantik'!
We had an unforgettable vacation at Hale Romantik.
The beach front location is perfect. we enjoyed the view from lanai in the morning, afternoon. and at sunset.
Night stars were beautiful, too.
We even enjoyed fishing from backyard, and made Sashimi
from catch of the day!
Tried kayak at a Milolii beach park. We could find every thing in the utility room. what a FUN‼︎
Mosquitos bothers us a bit, but
they are part of nature.
We definitely want to stay here

Amazing views and amazing quiet!
Far away from everything - you have to drive to get anywhere - but we knew that. Beautiful sunsets in perfect accommodations!
Thank you for the review! Hale Romantik' is a pretty special location. I'm glad you had a nice relaxing time at my home. Warmest Aloha, Kirsten
Quiet neighborhood, surreal landscape, whales at your doorstep
Spent a wonderful 5 days at the property which is literally on the edge of a lava cliff with unobstructed views of the Pacific. Saw countless whales feeding off the deck and would even hear their blowholes at night as they passed close to the cliffs. The property is quite a drive south of Kailua-Kona and the main resort areas but closer to Volcano and Hilo so it all depends on what you want to be nearer (everything is a drive to get to on the Big Island). It is a good 15 minute drive just from the main road down to the property given the elevation from which you start and the switchbacks, but the views are spectacular and the drive easy if you take it slow (also various farm stands along the way to stop and get fresh bananas, avocados and other fruits). The town of Oceanview is only 25 minutes away from the house if you need groceries/gas or want to go to their farmer's market on Saturday morning. You do need to bring in your own drinking water to the house since its on a catchment system (as are most houses on the island). Milolli state park is just 5 minutes drive down the road from the house where you can do some great tidal pool exploration. If you hike out to Honomalino Bay from there you will likely have the entire black sands beach and bay to yourself (the trail is now well marked, about a mile hike through very surreal landscape and forest). Unfortunately we didn't get to kayak or snorkel there or at the house as the seas were too rough (an unusual storm passed through leading to a lot of unusual wind and rain while we were there), but the sunsets, whales and quiet were wonderful. Definitely a great place to unwind and get away from it all. Kitchen is also well equipped so if you like eating in you'll have no problems doing so and then enjoying the view from the lanai or patio.
I'm glad you enjoyed your time at my Oceanfront home. It is a very special place. I look forward to your next visit! Warmest Aloha, Kirsten
