Verbesserungswürdig: Sauberkeit, Check-in, Kommunikation, Lage und Genauigkeit des Onlineauftritts
Scam? Or just terrible?
There is an extreme mismatch between the property listing photos and the actual property to the extent that we did not feel safe upon arriving at this property. The property is located down a rocky dirt road in Mauritius and has abandoned, unfinished concrete buildings on either side of it. Upon arriving, the host was nowhere to be found despite my WhatsApping with him a few minutes before our arrival as he requested in advance. The property had a group of men listening to loud music inside it, when we were supposed to be the only travelers. The property also did not seem to have walls - it had only concrete ceilings and support pillars that we saw. We were also followed while looking for the host by a pack of five wild dogs who were aggressive toward me, my husband, and our four year old daughter. Wild dogs!!
After about 25 minutes of trying to find the host and our accommodation, we ultimately felt so unsafe - between the lack of communication, the wild dogs, the group of unknown men, the absence of walls, the adjacent abandoned buildings - that we made the decision to leave and find alternate lodgings for our last night in Mauritius, at extra expense and stress. I informed the host via WhatsApp that we would not be staying the night and he did not reply.
I tried to request a refund via both VRBO and Agence Homerez for more than a week before publishing this review and no one bothered to reply to me from Homerez at all. I wasn’t able to get a response after my initial messaging with VRBO despite the agent’s assurances that I would hear back in 48 hours (it’s now been 11 days).
Do not stay here.
