We absolutely loved our stay at Casa Gloria in Lisbon and can’t say enough wonderful things about our host, Doris. The apartment is perfectly located in the Príncipe Real neighborhood — an ideal home base for exploring the city on foot. It was spacious, beautifully appointed, impeccably clean, and cozy, with a lovely view that made mornings especially enjoyable.Doris was an exceptional host from start to finish. I had a great stay with my wife and 3 daughters (16, 18, 23). Plenty of room, well furnished and stocked. Doris was very helpful and attentive, and extremely easy to communicate with. She also provided a lovely welcome basket of food, wine and beer, which was much appreciated. We had never heard of Vinho Verde wine, and now we are hooked. Perfect location for exploring Lisbon. We'd stay there again.

This home and host SURPASSED expectations. Our trip to PORTUGAL was delayed due to Air Canada, and this host was extremely responsive and accommodating for our stay. The host is extremely prompt in responding to messages, and provided a great deal of info related to restaurants, things to do, and helpful tips.The home was extremely clean, matched everything in the pictures, and surpassed our expectations. The apartment was even better than expected. Very comfortable for all seven of us. A sunny, great place to be together. We loved beginning and ending our days around the corner at the Quiosque in the Praça da Alegria. Doris was a total pleasure to deal with -- accommodating special requests quickly with zero fuss. Super convenient to get to and from the airport with a quick metro ride. We loved our week there and would definitely come back.

Great accommodations!

We stayed for 5 days at this lovely bright and airy apartment, hosted by Doris. She was so helpful and welcoming. The apartment was perfect for our family group, lots of space and bathrooms for everyone to feel comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped for cooking meals. Doris was able to answer all of our questions and accommodate our arrival and departure times. The apartment location was very central, close to Metro and train station. We felt so at home and we would love to visit again!

Outstanding spot for five friends to have as a home base in Lisbon. Thoughtfully appointed, well equipped kitchen, extremely clean. The introductory YouTube video was a nice touch. I can only echo the comments of others; Doris is the perfect host, the attention to detail leaves nothing to chance, she goes out of her way to make the whole experience one to remember - it's all those little details that make the difference. This is a comfortable, well equipped, immaculately clean apartment perfectly located for a city break in Lisbon. We loved it and could happily move in and live there - in fact it is is so comprehensively equipped that you could do just that. Thank you Doris for your warm welcome and wonderful service. Excellent!

This is an excellent apartment. Very clean, spacious and well equipped. Very central location, but also quiet. On the first floor of a small block. Lots of nice touches like a welcome pack, lots of spare household basics like toilet paper, kitchen towel, cling film etc. There is a shower room, a separate toilet and also a bathroom with shower and toilet. Doris is very organised, both before the trip and on arrival and departure. Very friendly and welcoming. She organised a mini van to pick us up (and drop us) at the airport at a fair price, which saved queing for a cab (it was a long queue). We were two adults and three children, and we all thought this was one of the best places we had rented.

Fantastic home base for a longer stay

Our family, which included both a senior and 5 year old, found Casa Gloria to be a fantastic home base during a longer stay in Lisbon. The bedrooms are of a generous size with comfortable beds and good privacy. The bedroom windows all have tapparelle, allowing for complete blackout of the windows. This is so helpful when traveling with kids! The kitchen is well-appointed and easy to cook in. And Doris has set up an ingenious laundry trying system for drying cloths without draping them on every surface in the apartment (which not all flats are provided with). While there is a bit of a funky shower setup, directly off the kitchen, we made it work just fine. There are fans throughout the apartment to help keep it cool during warmer days, although it stayed surprisingly comfortable during the couple of days we had temps around 87-89 deg. F.The apartment has lovely views of the city, which we appreciated in the mornings and evenings, and it’s located close to most attractions and key transit lines. We even managed to pick up our car rental (Sixt) within a 10 minute walk of the apartment. I was worried it would be loud at night but it was quiet with the exception of some sporadic noises from the road below due to trash movements (but really not bad at all).Overall, I’d say this is a great place for families or larger groups to explore Portugal from and would recommend to other!

Perfect Lisbon Getaway with an Amazing Host!

Doris was an exceptional and communicative host. She was always available and responded promptly to all our questions. Her restaurant recommendations for both Lisbon and Cascais, where we took a lovely day trip, were fantastic. The apartment itself was spacious and very clean. Our group of 8—four adults and four kids—never felt cramped. We particularly enjoyed the charming breakfast nook and the quirky blue "kitchen shower," which everyone made a point to use. The location was ideal—walking distance to public transportation, numerous attractions, excellent restaurants, and grocery stores. Despite initial concerns about the apartment having no air-conditioning, we found the nights cool and the fans provided in every room kept us comfortable throughout our stay. In fact, returning to air-conditioning back in the States felt unnecessary! The kitchen was fully equipped, allowing us to prepare several meals with ease. I cannot recommend this apartment highly enough. My only regret was not having the opportunity to meet Doris in person. Hopefully, we can make that happen on our next visit!

Charming Flat in Ideal Lisbon Location

Our family of 7 had a wonderful stay at this charming flat. Doris was a great host and very easy to communicate with. The self- check-in process was a breeze and once inside the flat we were treated to fresh bread, fruit, beer, and a fully stocked coffee bar. The photos of the flat are accurate with a couple of additional comments. First, the windows have been changed to a more energy/sound efficient style (better in our opinion since they enhanced the amazing views from the main living space). Second, we were surprised to find the second "shower room" was a closet like space off the kitchen next to the breakfast table. It's very nicely done and efficient with plenty of hot water. We found it only added to the quirky charm of this lovely flat. There was construction going on next door. We liked being up and out early so it didn't bother us. However, if you love to sleep in it would be an issue. We would definitely return to Casa Gloria!

An apartment jewel in Lisbon

Our family group of 7 adults felt perfectly comfortable in this wonderful 4 bedroom apartment. It is large and spacious so that we never felt crowded. Furnishings and bedding were first rate. It is bright and very cheerful. It seems more like a home to live in rather than a place for a short term stay. It is hard to imagine that there is a better, more thoughtful and considerate host or hostess anywhere. Doris thinks of everything. On checking in, it seemed as if we had already gone shopping for all the basic needs, and then some. Doris always responded quickly in our communications. Doris arranged our transfer from Lisbon cruise terminal to the apartment with another 5-star operation. We appreciated their service so much that we booked them to transfer us to the airport for our departure. Alex, our driver went far beyond just driving us. The location of the apartment is as good as it gets. Lisbon is a city that needs to be experienced by walking and the apartment is very central. We felt very safe and secure. Compared to other places we’ve stayed in, 5 STARS somehow seems a bit inadequate. Thank you Doris. We recommend you and your terrific apartment without reservations.

Beautiful apartment, great location, lovely owner

We stayed in this first floor apartment for 2 weeks in July 2016. We were delighted when we were shown around the apartment as it was just as lovely as the photos suggest. The rooms were spacious, clean and very nicely decorated. There is decent wifi, TV, DVD player, CD player and an intriguing selection of books (including a few kids' books). There is no air-conditioning but there are plenty of fans and even in the sweltering heat this was perfectly tolerable. The owner provided a travel cot and high chair for our 20-month old daughter, for whom the flat was completely suitable. Towels etc were provided. The location was perfect for us - just off the Av. da Liberdade so within easy reach of lots of interesting sights and areas and easy to catch taxis too. There were half a dozen decent restaurants within a couple of hundred metres of the apartment. The area felt safe and friendly. The owner was professional and prompt in all her dealings with us before and during our stay. She kindly booked us taxis to and from the airport. We had a small problem with the washing machine during our stay and it was dealt with very quickly. The welcome we received from Mark (Doris' husband) was warm and we were also given some milk, bread, fruit, butter, wine and homemade jam to get us started. The advice we were given regarding restaurants etc was spot on. We met Doris when she came to change sheets/towels half way through our stay and she was very friendly and helpful. In all we had a really wonderful stay in Lisbon and this was due in no small part to Doris and her lovely apartment. Highly recommended.

Wirklich gute Unterkunft

Eine wirklich gut gelegene, sehr schöne Wohnung im Herzen von Lissabon mit guter Erreichbarkeit zweier Metrostationen. Bestens geeignet für Gruppen bis 8 Personen. Sehr zuvorkommende Gastgeberin, die auch kurzfristig auftretende Probleme sofort beheben ließ. Hut ab.

Zentral gelegen, groß, voll ausgestattet

während der sechs Tage, die wir in Lissabon verbracht haben, hat es uns in der Wohnung an nichts gefehlt, sie war uns ein gemütlicher und - gemessen an den Verhältnissen in der Stadt - ruhiger Ausgangspunkt, um Lissabon zu entdecken. Von Waschmaschine, Geschirrspüler, Kaffeemaschine und Gasherd mit Backofen bis hin zu Bettwäsche, Hand- und Duschtüchern sowie Seife, Toilettenpapier und sogar Regenschirmen war alles vorhanden. Nur eine Straße weiter hügelabwärts gibt es mehrere Restaurants, von denen wenigstens zwei günstiges Essen in guter Qualität anbieten. Die angrenzenden Stadtteile bieten darüberhinaus eine Unzahl weiterer kulinarischer Angebote, die in einigen Minuten Fußweg leicht zu erreichen sind. Für Ausflüge nach Sintra liegt der Bahnhof Rossio nahe bei, nach Cascais der Bahnhof Cais do Sodré wenige Kilometer entfernt. Ein wenig schwierig ist die Versorgung mit Lebensmitteln, wenn man selbst kochen will, denn wir konnten nur einen einzigen kleinen Supermarkt in der Umgebung in ca. 750m Entfernung finden - deshalb ein Stern Abzug in puncto Lage und Umgebung. Fazit: Sehr gute Unterkunft.

Es war eine wunderbare Woche. Die Wohnung hat uns allen sehr gut gefallen. Die Vermieterin ist sehr freundlich und herzlich.
