Searching for a quiet escape you and your furry friends can enjoy? Zig Zag Retreat, brought to you by Mountain Vacation Lodging, is the perfect pet-friendly getaway, where relaxation comes easy. This cozy retreat sits on an acre of land and is surrounded by Evergreen trees, making the home feel private and peaceful. Located near Shadow Mountain Lake, Lake Granby, and Grand Lake, this home offers endless opportunities for adventure.

The Property:
As you enter the home, you'll step into the open and bright living area. The large windows in this room allow for plenty of sunlight to shine through, bringing in lots of natural light. The ceiling fan adds a nice touch, providing a refreshing breeze on warm summer days. After a full day of adventure in Grand Lake, kick back and relax on the comfy couches while enjoying a movie on the Roku TV. The futon folds down to provide additional sleeping space for up to two guests. Just off the living room, the open kitchen offers everything you need to whip up a delicious home-cooked meal. Just behind the kitchen, a door leads to the spacious deck, where a cozy outdoor table and chairs create the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee or dine al fresco. Fire up the grill and enjoy burgers, hot dogs, or whatever BBQ favorites you're craving! After dinner, hang out by the outdoor wood-burning firepit to enjoy a sweet treat or swap stories around the fire.

Bedroom 1 is down the hall and features a King sized bed. A ceiling fan and large window keep the air flowing on warm days. The room comes complete with its own ensuite bathroom, offering added comfort and privacy. Inside the bathroom you'll find both a walk-in shower and a large soaking tub, perfect for unwinding. On the opposite end of the home is bedroom 2. The two twin beds provide a flexible sleeping setup, ideal for families or friends. Bathroom 2, found on the same end of the home, comes with a shower/tub combo.

Location:
Zig Zag Retreat is just a 15-minute drive from Rocky Mountain National Park and the town of Grand Lake, where you'll find shopping, dining, and entertainment. Located minutes from US Highway 34, it's easy to head out in any direction for adventure. Explore the Arapaho National Forest with its many trails for ATVs, hiking, biking, and snowmobiling. Spend time on the nearby lakes (Lake Granby, Shadow Mountain Lake, and Grand Lake) perfect for kayaking, boating, and paddleboarding. In winter, enjoy skiing and snowboarding at Winter Park Resort, just a 45 minute drive away. Golfers can play a round at one of four scenic courses: Granby Ranch, Pole Creek, Grand Elk, and Grand Lake.

– Accessing the property: From the driveway to the entry for the home there are 5 steps.
– Parking: There is parking for up to 3 cars in the horseshoe driveway, plus room for a trailer, camper, or RV. Please reach out prior to booking if you have a trailer so we can confirm that it will fit in the driveway.
– 4WD vehicle information: The roads to this property are maintained. However, please note that your route to the area may include a mountain pass. The roads in Grand Lake which lead to and from this property are generally easy to navigate and well maintained. However, please note that your route to the area may include a mountain pass. When traveling during snow and winter weather conditions, 4 Wheel Drive or All Wheel Drive and tires with good tread are recommended.

** Rental Agreements, Security Deposits, Rental Requirements - All hotels and rental properties have some rules and are subject to some amount of laws or regulations. After booking, a Vacation Rental Agreement will be provided. All guests are required to sign the agreement within 72 hours of booking, and prior to occupying the property. There may be other requirements. For example, Guests may be required to provide additional information about the group that will occupy the property and or identification documents. Background checks may be performed, and in some areas are required by local law. A Minimum Age Requirement of 30 years or higher may apply. Guests may be required to provide a credit card and or a refundable security/damage deposit. We will be in touch after you book to gather additional information and to email you the rental agreement, which you can sign electronically - no printer required. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us before booking.
** Amenities - Some private or shared amenities may not be available for guest use during certain periods. Some amenities, when part of a property, may close daily, seasonally, or for maintenance. ** Air Conditioning - Most mountain resort properties were not built with air conditioning. During most hours of the day and weeks of the year, AC is not needed. Summer nights are cool and fans are provided at most properties. Check the average high and low temperatures and weather forecast for your dates of travel, and look at the list of amenities to see if AC or fans are part of the rental property and look for ceiling fans in photos.
** Pets & Fees - “Pet Friendly” means Dog Friendly only. If a property is pet friendly, then a per pet, per night fee will apply. Some online booking sites, such as VRBO, do not allow us to list the maximum number of pets per property. If you are renting a pet friendly property, and will have more than one dog, please reach out prior to booking to verify if the home will allow more than one dog. Additional fees will apply for more than 1 dog.
** Group Sizes, High Occupancy Fees, & Maximum Occupancy - Some properties use a “High Occupancy Fee” to “raise the rate” for larger groups, and are thus able to list a lower nightly rate for smaller groups. Each rental agreement and associated rates are for a specific group size. Guests must enter the correct and maximum group size at the time of booking. The agreement requires a guest to confirm the group size and subsequently, to disclose any changes to the planned group size, which may result in an increase, or decrease, to the total cost, and may result in a security deposit becoming required.
** Video & Noise Monitoring - Please note that noise monitoring devices, and security cameras, do exist on the exterior of the property. Cameras are positioned to cover all entrances and exits of the home. Cameras are present to ensure the property remains secure and safe, as well as to ensure that guests are honest and upfront about their planned use of the property. If you plan to bring more people than you've indicated, more dogs than indicated, to host a party or event, or do not intend to respect neighbors or the value and quality of the property, then this is not the place for you, and you should not book the property. For normal, respectful groups, we are sorry that these statements and measures are necessary. Security cameras and noise monitoring devices are an example and demonstration that the property's owners are taking steps to ensure the home remains available for rental, and in good condition, for your benefit. Please let us know if you have any concerns.
** Lengthy Rental Periods, Cancellation Policies, & Cleaning Fees - Long Term Rentals (28 nights or more) may be unacceptable under the standard cancellation policies listed online, which are designed to be only for short term rentals. Long Term Rentals must be discussed and approved prior to booking online. A long term rental / lease agreement may be required. A Security Deposit will be required for all long term rentals, and mid-stay cleaning(s) / inspection(s) may be required. The standard cleaning fee quoted as part of any booking is for the final cleaning, which is to be performed after the rental period has ended. Nice place, but not for us.

The place was nice and clean. However, we are in our 70s, and the tall dining room chairs were difficult for my wife to sit in, and the large bed was too high for her. Even the twin beds were difficult. We should have looked closer before renting it. The property manager helped when we had issues finding the property and with the keypad.

Perfect for our needs

Great location, perfect for what we were wanting to do- hike and enjoy the outdoors with our dogs. Kitchen is well stocked for cooking, Bathrooms were nice and clean. Second bedroom is a bit tight for adults but perfect for kids. Deck and fire pit were nice to relax and unwind after a day of adventures. We would stay here again!
