Cloud Cottage Eungella - Family friendly in beautiful rainforest mountain town!
Exhale as you land in the 'Land of Clouds' ⋄⋄⋄
Eungella is perched atop the Clarke Range, home to crystal clear mountain streams and an amazing diversity of flora and fauna.
At ~700m elevation, you'll find a cool reprieve from the heat of summer here in the tropics!
With plenty of space for your kids, boat, toys etc, an edible garden, fruit trees and private access to a beautiful seasonal creek, you are sure to find peace here.
The space;
The Cloud Cottage is a humble and quaint space ⋄⋄⋄
~with lush gardens and plenty of animal friends both feathered and furred.
~where the experience of nature and peace is the focus, rather than the glam.
~set on a quiet dirt road in the township, this is a peaceful and convenient base to explore all that Eungella has to offer.
In this home you will find;
~ 3 generous sized bedrooms
~ A full kitchen to prepare delicious home made meals.
~ Food gardens where you can forage for your own salads, herbs and teas.
~ A bookcase full of captivating books about birds, trees, wildlife and nature.
~ A low tox space using only plant-based products for cleaning.
~ A private path to a crystal clear seasonal creek (surely occupied by fairies and gnomes!)
~ Crisp mountain air that invites you to breathe it in deeply, exhaling any tension or worries for your stay.
Parking;
- Our carport is 2.1m high.
- The flat part of the driveway can fit 2 vehicles, one under carport and one out in the open. The driveway is quite steep.
- We have a relatively flat grassed/gravel area at the bottom of our driveway that is approx. 4x7.5m and suitable for parking trailers, boats etc. Perfect for those wanting to bring their toys and explore the nearby mountain bike trails and incredible dam fishing. Please reach out if you need more info regarding this and to check availability of this space.
Wildlife notes;
~ Eungella is renowned for Birdwatching, and is home to the rare Eungella Honeyeater
~ Our pigeon pea trees in the front yard are visited daily by three species of parrots.
~ We regularly see over 30 species of bird just from the backyard.
~ A bird sighting notebook is on the table for you to record any sightings should you wish to contribute
~ We have installed a frog hotel next to the carport that is inhabited nightly by two beautiful species of frogs. You will find more information about this in the guest manual.
~ Living in such proximity to rainforest and national park means you will most likely encounter critters of some kind during your stay - please be kind to all creatures, big or small.
Guest access;
Guests have access to the whole property during their stay, minus locked outdoor sheds.

We moved from our respective popular coastal cities to this beautiful regional area almost two years ago and haven't looked back.
We love birdwatching, hiking, growing our own food, and connecting with like minded humans.
In 2025 we are working on implementing more and more permaculture principles into both of our properties so that we can continue to support our young family and contribute to the abundance in the Pioneer Valley community.
For us, hosting is a way to share the beauty of this area with people from all over, as well as demonstrate simple sustainability practices in action on our property. Earning a little bit of money from this space is merely a bonus to these things!

Darum fiel die Entscheidung auf diese Unterkunft
About 80km west of Mackay, Eungella National Park is high above the surrounding plains. This mist-shrouded and forest-clad mountain refuge is one of Queensland’s most ecologically diverse parks with 860 plant species and a wonderful variety of wildlife.
It's not too far from Mackay to enjoy all the conveniences but also feel seclusion and spaciousness.

Das macht diese Unterkunft einzigartig
Eungella does not have many family friendly/multi bedroom spaces available for rent - currently it is mostly small cabins/retreat spaces available.
We wanted to fill this niche and provide a cosy space that the whole family can enjoy, with private creek access, herb and tea gardens, and plenty of space to bring along bikes, kayaks, tinnie's etc to really make the most of what the area has to offer.
