We loved this sea cottage!! We had the most relaxing, cosy beautiful winter getaway, loved the fireplace and overlooking the harbour :) The views from the house were amazing, it was super easy to get to and only 10 mins from the hot water beach. Thanks so much, would recommend to anyone!

My husband and I had a lovely Anniversary stay here. Super little property with nice view to the bay. Kawhia Hotel does a mean steak sandwich and pool!

Highly recommended

Cute cottage with loads of character. Amazing views over the harbour and town, nice spot for a wine on the deck watching the sunset. Perfect place for our wedding anniversary, and enjoyed digging for hot pools on the beach and quirky little Kawhia town.

Was a great place to relax on a rainy few days with warm fireplace going very old school kiwi nz beach vibe bach , great full view of Kāwhia Bay and whole town from bach,everything is walking distance don’t really need to drive anywhere in kawhia just walk across the road and your right in town,also a lot of history in Kawhia since the 1300s,Chris and Shannon were really nice welcoming couple

Kawhia with a view

We totally enjoyed our stay in the bach at Kawhia, the track up to it was a bit daunting (but we did well for a couple of oldies), and once up there and settled the view made it very worthwhile. Watching the harbour from the bedroom window just a treat. Very comfortable to stay in, had some very nice walks and some lovely relaxing time too.

Just what the Dr ordered

A superb little bolt hole for a rest & recovery break. Views forever over Kawhia harbour and just over the road to the store & local pub with the great locals. The cottage has everything you need and the fireplace was lovely on the cooler nights. Shannon was a great communicator and everything was how it was written. We will definitely be back.

In response to our guests review re the access. It is clearly stated on our website that there is no vehicle access up to the Bach at the top of the hill which is why we always email very specific directions & details prior to the stay & also do not recommend for anyone with mobility issues. It is very disappointing to get a 3 star review as we try very hard to accommodate our guests & many of our previous guests who have loved the Bach have never found this an issue.

Great location

The property is a true NZ bach. It is wooden and a bit creaky but had everything that we needed. Well equipped kitchen and a lovely shower (bit low for taller people!) The bed was comfortable and plenty of duvets, pillows and blankets. Great that some of the opening windows had insect screens. The best thing about the property is the view over the town and water. However, it should be noted that you need to walk up 50 steps from where you park your car to get to it!

In response to your review. In regard to the comment about the house being creaky, it is a Lockwood A frame so anybody who has lived in a Lockwood home would know they creak at times as it’s the way they are built & part of their charm. In reference to the 50 steps up to the house. (The steps are not the main access to the house.) On the email we send our guests with the instructions prior to their stay it states, “To the left of garage is a grass walkway that takes you up to the house.” It is also stated on our website listing “There is a reasonable walk up to the house.”

Close to township.

Unfortunately we did not realise it would be a walk up the hill to access. It was raining so it wasn't good for me with a sore leg. We also couldn't see our vehicle down the hill so I was a bit worried about that. In saying this the house is cosy, tidy and has everything you need. Communications good but probably should let everyone know a $100 bond is required on top of the service fee that you pay on top of having to clean.

It clearly states on our website listing quote “ there is a reasonable walk up to the Bach which would not suit anyone who has health or mobility issues”. We cannot unfortunately control the weather. Re the vehicle parking we have never had problem with vehicle security in the past 20 years. In the special conditions on the website it is clearly stated a $100 bond is required & is fully refundable when all is left as found in a clean & tidy condition. The Service Fee is an admin fee charged by Vrbo which is nothing to do with us & also not a cleaning fee.
