Lake James Country-style House - Deep Cove, Pool, Screen Porch, Kayaks & SUP!

Located in a gated communicate on Lake James, Newman’s Nook is a Farmhouse-style lake house on a calm cove, nestled in the Blue Ridge mountain foothills of North Carolina. It offers all amenities you’d hope for along with hand-crafted wood pieces from the property, including the fireplace mantel, shelves, mirrors and dining tables. Lake James is a stunning wonderland for adventure or relaxation. Take in picturesque views, smell fresh lake mountain air, listen to nature’s music and feel the cool, clean water of fabulous Lake James!

Living / Dining Areas:
Newman’s Nook is perfect to share with friends or another family, intentionally designed with two living spaces. Each living room has a large screen TV and lounge seats, ideal for different entertainment preferences. The downstairs living room has a stone, wood-burning fireplace, perfect for winter!

The spacious gourmet kitchen provides everything needed during your stay. For memorable meals, a large indoor dining area comfortably seats 10.

Bedrooms:
An energizing night sleep is everyone’s wish, and Newman’s Nook can sleep 12 comfortably. The downstairs master has a California king-size bed. It’s spacious with a full bath, walk-in closet and offers fantastic sunrise views!

The large upstairs master has a king size bed, full bath, walk-in closet and side room with two additional twin-size beds.

The third upstairs bedroom has two bunk beds with Tempur-Pedic mattresses, sleeping four additional people.

The fourth upstairs room is a game room with pull-out queen-size bed. It can comfortably sleep two.

Outdoor Space:
• Pool: Right next door you'll find a neighborhood pool, fire pit, showers, bathrooms and large shelter (pool typically is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day while the fire pit is available year round). Please treat this common area with respect so we can continue offering it to our guests.

• Screened porch: Seating for 10, this space allows you to enjoy nature’s sights and sounds. Two ceiling fans keep it cool and Edison lights add nice ambiance. Enjoy your morning coffee and breakfast or a fun meal with friends / family. Next to the screened porch is a grilling deck with gas grill.

• Cove and Dock: An easy walk down a gentle slope reveals a deep cove with dock. Have fun jumping off the dock, relaxing on floats, using lake toys or fishing. You can also set up chairs to chill, get some sun and take in the sights of the lake and mountains. If you own a watercraft there's easy navigation to moor your watercraft on the dock. If you’d like to rent a pontoon boat, rentals are available nearby.

• Boathouse: Steps from the dock, it’s filled with various size life jackets and the following to enjoy during your stay FREE:

Newman’s Nook is minutes from Blue Ridge Parkway, Pisgah National Forest, Linville Gorge, Linville Falls, Lake James State Park, Table Rock and Black Mountain. Silver Fork Winery and Whippoorwill Farm brewery are just minutes away! It's also an easy drive to Asheville, Biltmore, Blowing Rock, Boone and other State Parks.

Summer visit? Stay cool in the soothing waters of Lake James or rent a pontoon boat to explore the lake. Visit the lake islands and stop by Lake James beach. Fish from the dock or just enjoy the sun and scenery. Consider visiting multiple local waterfalls.

Fall or Spring visit? A perfect time of year! The water is often warm enough to enjoy. It’s also prime for fishing! Mountain biking trails are nearby and hiking trails are numerous. Popular hikes are to the top of Shortoff Mountain or into the Linville Gorge for majestic views. In the Fall, experience breathtaking beauty with leaves on full display. Enjoy a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Winter visit? A serene time to enjoy snow-topped mountains and the peaceful lake. Feel the warmth of the fireplace after a day of hiking, snow tubing or skiing. Sugar Mountain, Jonas Ridge and Beech Mountain offer these activities close by in Boone, NC.

Also make sure to explore the nearby towns of Morganton and Marion for shopping, micro-breweries, restaurants, antiquing and local arts & crafts.
